You should have electric scooter for disabled customers. I am on short term disability and I can't shop because I can't walk. I was very disappointed because I couldn't shop.

Electric scooters cost money to buy and to repair. I work at a *major grocery store chain*, and I have seen electric scooters abandoned in the parking lot, inside the store, and across the street.

These electric scooters are then outside in the elements. So these electric scooters are rained on, etc.

I have also seen customers literally steal these electric scooters. So part of your complaint could very well be with customers who do this.

This is Menards culture! Culture is built from how owners, operations manager, and GM;s behave.

Your employees learn from you. Is this the type of behavior you model? Change today because it has already happened. You are not the top home improvement store.

Why? You do not hire innovators, visionaries, and you are old school business. You can do this though Menards.

You just have to start at the top and change the way you do business. I would start at appreciative inquiry with employees and customers:)

It's interesting how employee behavior differs from store to store. Our local Menards has excellent staffing.

The last time we were in the lumberyard a few weeks ago, no fewer than three individuals came over separately while we were loading to offer assistance. By contrast, I've had to track down employees in Home Depot and Lowes when I've had to ask questions (often the answer is "we don't carry that", so we always end up back at Menards).

Well you were luckier than me - I used their kiosk in a Lowes and within 3 hours after using it to pay for the keys - my credit card was fraudulently used multiple times for on-line purchases --- even though I had it in my wallet and it was never left my wallet after it was used in their kiosk. The CC company alerted me to the issue and now I have to change all my automatic payments to my new card.

What a mess. I will never use them again.

As an African American electriction and general contractor for home remodels I personally have been a victim of "swb" AKA shopping while black 3 times over the past 7 years at menards stores. All of which were short tempered security and store staff as well.

The most recent was for bringing in an old rusty tape measure with true value label on the side into the store. The clown security man spent 10 minutes trying to find a stock number for my beat up 15 year old tape measure before the store staff told him to "buzz off" and apologized for his actions.

Unfortunately as a minority race you are prejudged as guilty until proven innocent and even after being proven innocent due to common sense you are then are seen as guilty just for the "h" of if. Hopefully someday everyone will be equal.

What you should do is speak to the head manager about this matter. I have an adult mentally handicapped daughter working in a fast food place and she overheard one of her co-workers telling another employee that she couldn't do a lot of things because she was a "retard." When my daughter came home and told me about it, she stated that she had started to cry when she overheard it, and one of the managers took her her back to the kitchen to comfort her.

I emailed the head quarters about it and received a phone call from one of the higher ups, who stated he had talked with the head manager of the business and all the employees were going to have to be retrained in how to work with all types of people, etc. Within a short period of time the worker who had made the comment ended up being fired along with her boyfriend. The funny part is they were both on the slow side(mentally,) however not enough to be called mentally handicapped. A lot of people don't think before they speak.

This incident should definitely be reported to the head manager and then if nothing is done about it, take your business elsewhere.

Menards in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Twinkling LED Tree Lights are a Total Rip-Off

Last year I purchased a twin pack of LED "Stay On" tree lights (total of 360 lights) from Sams Club for $22.95. Wanting a little sparkle, I purchased 2 boxes of "Twinkling" LED Tree Lights (70 lights per box) from Menards (the exclusive distributor of those lights) for $14.95 per box. This year when I setup the tree I discovered that only 15 of the 70 LED bulbs actually twinkled. According to the Menards' Customer Service that is exactly how many LED lights are supposed to Twinkle. Nowhere on the box does it indicate that 55 LED lights will Stay On while only 15 will Twinkle. Either it was deceptive marketing or fraud. There is only 1 item I will continue to purchase from Menards, otherwise the rest of my business will go elsewhere.

As a former employee of Menard's with no axe to grind whatsoever, I can unequivocally state that they are a horrible company to work for. They are very, very aware of their size and how much money they pull in and this equates to an unbelievable air or arrogance by Manager's that are more than happy to make your life miserable as an employee.

Want to climb that so-called Corporate ladder here? Then prepare to be a back-stabbing weasel with sickening levels of entitlement, and have little concept of even the idea of common sense in treating Customer's like priority #1 as they should be--contrary to the ridiculous signs everywhere about so-called Customer Service at Menard's. The turn-over rate at this particular location even though it only opened a few months ago is just unbelievable. So do yourself a favor if one of your loved ones is considering applying at a Menard's--talk them out of it.

They'll be worked like dogs and talked to like one. They'll be much, much better off someplace else. Trust me.

I know. And really wish I didn't :sigh .

Easy to believe, everything at Menards is the lowest quality that can be obtained from China. I would never buy anything at Menards except insulation and ducting.

Everything else they can keep.

Couple that with the pond ***, money grubbing ethics of the ruthless Owner and you may understand why we hope everyday for their failure. Death to big box greed.

Special order items may be refunded at Menards® sole discretion with a 25% restocking fee.

That means they MAY take it back, and if they do it will probably have a 25% fee. I work the service desk, and usually if we stock it we don't even charge the 25%. But again, its the manager's discretion
