New ReviewerMy fiancee and I have in this last month purchased 1 air conditioner and over 60 bags of mulch from your store in here in Toledo Ohio. Still needing one more ac and 10 bags of mulch my fiancee went back today and got the 10 bags of mulch and air conditioner and took it to the register.
I presume this is all on camera. If your cameras have audio you will hear him inform the cashier of the air conditioner. He pays the total and walks out of menards and loads his car. He is then approached by the police and taken back inside where he is then accused of stealing the AC.
Your cashier neglected to listen and then charge my fiancee which has resulted in being banned by the police and a $200 fine for YOUR CASHIERS MISTAKE. As a long time paying customer who literally just spent $400 in one trip at your store a week ago I am outraged at the way this situation has been handled and would like to speak to someone from Menards corporate office immediately to review the audio and video footage of this unacceptable behavior displayed by customer service.

You need to just admit this was a scam on his part
How much more was it on top of the 336$ that needed to be paid?
The police didn't ban him, Menards did. He didn't pay a fine either.
He paid Menards a $200 "restitution fee" to cover their security expenses in stopping him.
Doing this kept the police out of the situation. If he hadn't paid the $200 they would have called the police and filed criminal charges.
Youre still not explaining how the receipt showed $336.00.
My reply about the 336$ was meant for the OP
No need to review any video. How stupid is your fiancé to not question the total?
Ten bags of mulch probably only cost $50 plus tax.
He should have known something was wrong with total. You don’t cross your fingers at the register and hope the cashier misses an item and claim no responsibility.
Thats the point the total she gave him was 336.00. For 10 bags of mulch?!
You need to post pic of the receipt then and show why the total was $336. No way the police would charge him if he had a receipt with a $336 total.
I agree! The customer held all the cards over the store and the police if he was truly charged $336.00 and the receipt showed that amount.
