Miserable experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I ordered 3 pairs of work pants online from Menard's. The next day, my card was charged, and I received a confirmation email that my order was shipped in full. A week later, no delivery and the tracking number still just said label created. Two emails to customer support got no reply other than a confirmation. It has been over two weeks. Tracking number still just says label created. Contacted the local store. Some kid said he had to get to a computer and put me on hold. Still waiting. Going on an hour now.

Local stores don't have access to online orders being shipped to you. Why didn't you just go to the local store and make the purchase in the first place and avoid their shipping charges?

Michael P Wej

The order was to come out of a local branch. Order numbers what begin with WCHW come out of West Wichita, WCHE is East Wichita. I called the branch it was supposed to come out of, and I was taking advantage of a sale.

Bird Seed Quality

Menards - Bird Seed Quality

Menards - Bird Seed Quality - Image 3

On November 11, 2023 I purchased 2ea 50 lb bags of ADM Black Oil Sunflower Seed. Both bags were full of ground up limbs up to 2" long.

The second bag also had pieces of the sunflower seed heads the size of my thumbnail.

The limbs and chunks of sunflower heads plug my feeder and it is necessary to clean junk out of the openings a couple of times each day.

Below is a picture of the junk regularly removed from seed to fill the feeder one time. I emailed ADM customer service in early January describing the problem, received an automatic response that the that the message was received, but no further word.

Any suggestions?

Menard's may want to

Phoney rebates, 4 mos to wait

Menards - Phoney rebates, 4 mos to wait

Sent in rebate form in September 2023, from an online purchase. I was happy with pricing when factoring the rebate.

We reside in NY state. After 4 months of waiting for the rebate it finally comes.now read the tiny print and it says only good for in store purchases. At time of purchase I was under the impression it was either a prepaid gift card, of a refund check. Not either one, just a bar code good for their store.

And no good for the online store/ .com So if I want to take advan5 of the rebate I'll need to drive 45 hrs to one of their stores. Mr Menard go *** yourself.

Since sending in the rebate ive spent an additional 3850.00 in merchandise. Well that's heading back for refund, I've notified my cc agency of the scam.

And they assure me of complete satisfaction. Goodbye,,menards I'll pass the word on down the road on the scam company you are.

I take it that you didn't look at the rebate form you sent in. The top of the form Says "Menards Rebate Form" Directly under that the first line reads "*Mail-in Rebate.

Rebate is in the form of a merchandise credit check, valid in store only." They are pretty clear what the rebate is. The only thing you should be complaining about is your failure to read the rebate form.

As far as returning thousand of dollars of merchandise you ordered online my guess is that you haven't looked at the restocking charges you would incur. Don't expect your credit card company to help as they clearly spelled out the details of the rebate.

I bought a large item

I asked if they would load and tie it down for me and was told yes. I go around to have it loaded in my truck and asked the guy if it was secure and he said yes.

I go 2 minutes on the highway and it blows out cause 1) he left the pallet under it 2) did not push it forward to the cab for a wind block and 3) did not secure it down.

I called them up and told them and they said that's too bad but not their problem.

I spend thousands of dollars I. Menards every year but I will never step foot In another one again.

So it's someone else fault you didn't secure something in your vehicle and you lost it after you weren't even on their property. I think you need to accept that transport things safely is your responsibility. If you weren't capable of know if it was safe, they have a delivery service you could have paid to have them bring you the chair.

Guest

When I asked them if they would load it and secure it and they said yes and then I asked the guy that put it in if it was ok amd he said yes then I guess I took their word for it when I shouldn't have. They didn't have to lie from the beginning and at the end. Why lie ???

Guest

Having worked at Menards in the past I know that their employees are not allowed to tie down or secure Merchandise for a customer. They can help load it in your vehicle but securing it is up to the customer.

Your situation is a perfect example of why they aren't allowed to secure a load.

If they had secured the load and it got loose they could be held liable. As they do not secure the load, leaving it to the customer to secure the load they have no liability if it comes loose.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2437606

Then they needed to tell me that and not lie to me. I called the store and asked if they would load it for me and tie it down and the guy I talked to said yes.

And then after he loaded it into my truck with the pallet left underneath it which shouldnt have happened I asked him if it needed tied down and he said no it was good. So if he would have told me different then I would have double checked his work and done what he said it needed before I drove away for it to blow out onto the highway 2 minutes later.

So they should not tell you what they want to make a sale then not follow through. If I would have been told the truth then I could have went to Lowes or Home Depot where they seem to be more trained then this guy was and then I would not be writing this and I would have a recliner right now Instead of being out almost $400

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2437614

Another option would be since you had a oversize load bungie corded to the exterior of your vehicle perhaps you should have considered driving home using city side streets where you can drive 25 mph or less and pull over immediately should your load shift or notice play in your securing straps as well as having minimal wind disturbing the load as you drive. Instead you decide to hit the highway wide open throttle at 70 mph + and ill regard people around you in other vehicles...........

sounds like a scene from a car insurance commercial. You must be the same guy who holds the mattress on top of your car with 1 hand while driving with the other.

Guest

Maybe they need to be held accountable for the way they placed it in my truck then.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. I told them I didn’t understand what the problem was since the posting in their website gave a drop down box to choose the scent I wanted.

The “team” reviewed the posting and realized I was right.

They are revising the posting and have issued me a full refund. No need to return what I received.

I’m glad your spy camera stopped working. It’s a *** feeling walking down the city owned sidewalk with my dog knowing I’m being a victim of audio and video voyeurism by random people just waiting to blast me all over youtube and neighborhood websites just because I sneezed without covering my mouth or the heel of my shoe bushed against the lawn edging of the sidewalk while I’m walking just before sunset and not a soul to be seen.

Unfortunately one of the major uses for these “ insecurity “ cameras is to discretely record people then make false accusations about their actions on social media. It’s a very uncomfortable feeling walking down public sidewalks and knowing 5 neighborhood Karen’s are watching you from 30 miles away waiting for the split second decision to call 911 based solely on their suspicions.

Walking while black is automatically a felony in the eyes of the neighborhood watchdog.

Imagine being a ups driver realizing you accidentally took a package to the wrong address but when you go to retrieve the package while in uniform the neighborhood rent a cop calls you in from 100 miles away. These spy cameras are perfect for people with low self esteem looking to be the next source of a viral video so make false accusations all day long.

Lack of Caring

I bought a washing machine in stock they brought up to check out on cart we inspected box said to sales associate the corner of box has damage they said it's normal the washer is fine. They helped load and when i got home unloaded in garage and cut the straps and unbox OMG the rear right corner where the box was damaged was crushed I promptly called the store, and they said we could either bring back for a replacement or give us something off I said no thank you could, i speak to the manager she said he would have to call me back. Approx 20 mins later he called said the same i asked if they could send a new one out he said there was very little profit and would not So i ended up loading back up and taking it back i told the manager he was willing to sacrifice i customer versus doing the right thing NO MORE SHOPPING AT MENARDS A CUSTOMER WHO SPENDS A LOT OF MONEY EVERY Year

If the damage was concealed I would agree with your request but you saw the damage to the box before you paid for it. Why didn't you request to have the box sliced open where the damage was so you could see the washer?

That being said, having sold appliances at Menards I can tell you Menards is not the best place to buy appliances. If you need a quick, in stock appliance that you want to pick up they are just ok. You can usually find a better price elsewhere and in many cases those prices include delivery by people that know how to handle appliances.

A typical delivery from Menards that you will have to pay for will be one person struggling to get the appliance into your home with a 2 wheeler. Even when I worked there selling appliances I bought elsewhere for these reasons.

Guest

If you went to an appliance store you would have got free delivery and they would have put it in place and verified it worked. They also would have delivered a replacement for free if any issues.

Put your complaint in writing, they don't have people to talk to on the phone. More than likely it won't do much good.

Hopefully you didn't buy a Criterion refrigerator. If you look at all the complaints it's next to impossible to get parts or service for them.

Incompetent tile installer that Menards recommended Terry Briscoe

Incompetent tile installer that Menards recommended Terry Briscoe
Incompetent tile installer that Menards recommended Terry Briscoe - Image 2

My problem is a very incompetent contractor that Menards recommended, Terry Briscoe, name of his service was, professional flooring service, the job was to remove carpet that was glued to my bedroom floor in the basement then to glue excelon floor tile purchase from Menards costing $475.38, Terry agreed to the job for $350, he arrived on time, on Monday, June 26th had his son for his helper went to the bedroom shut the door ask for my vacuum, ask for me to find some rags, did not remove the baseboards, he did not get the tile under the baseboards even though there was enough room being the baseboards were on top of the carpet, did not get close to the walls some places were jagged edges, when they were done I asked him to remove two pieces of tile that was especially jagged, I didn't realize until they had left how bad it was. I had had tile put down before with no problem, the lady that sold me the tile at Menards said he came highly recommended, was even on Facebook she said. Terry told me that one gallon of glue was enough, I called and asked him when I was in the store. Then halfway through he said he needed more glue, I had to go to the store right then and buy more glue $80 when they left I realized glue was all over the floor so sticky every step you made your shoes stuck to the floor, glue was on the toilet, glue was on the toilet seat it was on the toilet seat cover on the bathroom door *** on the sheet that I had covering my bed, I had to leave my bed in the room it was so heavy, it was electric, found carpet fragments of carpet between tiles had to cut it out with scissors, some places tile didn't meet coming into my room from the hall it's not up against the wall, it's got at least 1/4 to 1/2 in gaps where there's no tile you can see the floor. I had about a half a box of tile left they got glue on the tile in the box they didn't even used, the four gallon container of glue was about half full when they finish glue all over the outside of the container. I had to buy mineral spirits $20 and had to get my grandkids to come and help me clean the glue off the floor, I'm 74 years old I have bad knees, I was still trying to help ..got my knees irritated. I'm going to try to hire someone to come in and put quarter round down to hide the sloppy fittings against the wall. Some tile was not even, I had to take a soft hammer tap light on the those places and try to hold one hammer hit the other hammer on the floor to try to even and push the tile down. I definitely would not recommend this contractor for anything he wasn't friendly either, out of five stars maybe one the middle of the tile floor look pretty good but over by my bed a couple of tiles were whitish tinge I don't know what that was or why that turned out that way. He was extremely sloppy, I would not recommend this person to do anything, I definitely don't want him back in my home. He threw the old carpet out by my trash and did not ask me where I wanted it, I told him he'd have to put it out by the street, well then my garbage people didn't take it, so I was left to try to get rid of it.

Sorry I've gone on and on but this has been expensive, almost a thousand dollars worth of nightmare and I'm not happy yet, still got to hire somebody to come put down the quarter round, wish I could just rip all this up and start over but I don't have that kind of money, I'm going to have to live with it. I'm going to the trouble to write you because I do not feel this guy is competent to do anything and I don't want anybody else to go through what I've just been through.

Thank you,

Jennifer Erwin

If you read the sheets they have for installers they tell you they are in no way affiliated with theses contractors and they have not checked them out. It is up to you to check references for them. In many cases you will find that you can go to a flooring store that offers installation they stand behind and buy the materials installed for less than what you pay at Menards and hire your own contractor.

Or shop at home depot where the store works with hired contractors to provide services for the public and the store accepts liability for poor workmanship or dishonest contractors. As you found out the hard way menards just loves the play the ol pass the buck game.

Sounds like someone hasn't seen similar complaints on the HD or Lowes pages. Same thing, a different chain.

The chase for the lowest cost oftentimes has similar results. You get what you pay for.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2361688

Lowe’s and Home Depot have over 1700 locations each covering all 50 states plus stores across the borders as well. Menards has 350 stores across only 15 states.

When you prorate the complaints on here per number of stores than menards has a significantly higher number. I suppose it aligns with their f rating with the better business bureau, again due to extreme number of customer complaints.

Perhaps an employee could motivated enough to assist a frustrated customer find a product similar to one recently purchased but no longer available. Instead it’s easier for the employee to bellow “ that’s not my job “ and run off at the speed of light the moment a customer asks for help.

Still store staffing “ team members “ could recommend a similar item to what the customer “ guest “ was looking for. Lacking poor customer service is a major reason stores like shopko, bonton, toys r us, office max, radios shack, circuit city, bed bath & beyond, and Payless shoes are all in the history books……..perhaps menards wants to join the list of defunct retailers?

Rude General Manager - Refund issue

Original review Nov 26, 2023

Back at the end of August, we placed an order for a $22K pole barn kit which I very specifically told the people I was working with that this was being done solely by my husband and I and made sure we'd have no issues with time constraints when it came to needed returns (crates items came in) or running into issues with stuff missing. Everything was officially either delivered or picked up from the store by the second week of October.

Now at the end of November, we're finally finishing up and made it a point to get the wood crates back to the store to get the refund for them. When my husband went to return them, he was met with a very rude lady and general manager named Evan. Evan was unwilling to give us our $200ish refund for the refundable crates because we were apparently 4 DAYS past our 90 day return date on November 25th, 2023 that was not mentioned once to us during the process of pickup. What really doesnt make sense is that these returnable crates holding most of the metal trim weren't picked up from the store until the first week of October by my husband and I, so how are we past that 90 day window on November 25, 2023?

Their system should show exactly when we picked it up because they do a check out system when you go to leave the lumber yard. Evan was unwilling to even listen to my husband about this and became really rude. Dave at the building counter has told my husband and I several times we'd be good to return when able to these and never mentioned a return window. Additionally, we have run into several items missing or being wrong within this kit that made us have to return to the store that is an hour away from us and get the wrong items corrected and waste more time.

We spent over $22,000 on this whole kit. The fact that Evan was unwilling to issue a measly $200 refund because we were apparently 4 days late, which was absolutely never explained to us, is absolutely disgusting and sickening. He gave us a store credit, which doesnt work for us because we dont shop at Menards and after this definitely never will again. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for your DIY barn kits.

I can almost guarantee things will be wrong, and they won't work with you. Shame on Menards and the General Manager, Evan

The 90 days is 90 days. It goes from sales date.

Not pick date. It's not something anyone can override. It's automatically is refunded as a credit after 90 days. Sorry, you don't like the policy, but it is written on all the paperwork multiple times.

You can use the credit for anything in the store.

They sell laundry detergent and toilet paper and other household consumable items. Just use it on things such as that.

Denetra Eyn

NO is NOT the SAME as RUDE. How many times do I and others have to explain this simple concept to you childlike adults.

You were FOUR DAYS LATE. YOUR FAULT. With your poor English, NOTHING WOULD MAKE SENSE TO YOU ANYWAY., Just be grateful that you got a store credit and in the future get someone that can read to read the back of your receipt to see that you have 90 days to return the items. SHAME ON YOU for accusing them of being rude because you could not follow a simple return policy.

With your childish behavior I doubt they want you returning anyway. You won't be missed.

Katie K Efh
reply icon Replying to comment of Denetra Eyn

I think you should reread. This particular item was not picked up until the FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER because we had to wait for it to come in. 90 days from us picking up said item does not equal out to November 25th.

"we were 4 DAYS past a return date " Which is it K A ren. You were LATE.

It doesn't matter if it is 1 day or 4 days, you were LATE. Take the store credit, use it on something else, and move on with your laughable life.

I can read just fine. YOU ARE LYING.

It would state on your receipt, when you picked up the item. I should not be told by some STUPID woman, with first grade education to learn how to read.

Even if you are right NO is NOT the SAME as RUDE. GROW UP.

Guest

Were you offered a store credit rather than a refund? Never go by what a salesperson SAYS.

Always look at what is in written orders or policies. Their return policy states that items the accept for return after 90 days will be refunded as a store credit.

Denetra Eyn
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2434921

I am sure the salesperson explained to them the return policy and they forgot. They could have read the receipt.

Then again looking at her review full of spelling and grammar errors I doubt she knows how to read.

Then for this "woman" to claim that they were rude because they did not get an exception. How childlike can she be?

Katie K Efh
reply icon Replying to comment of Denetra Eyn

Haha. Yes we didn’t to listen to anything and make sure we knew all the facts when making a $22,000 purchase.

Right. It also doesn’t state that in our paperwork.

Additionally, setting a 90 day return window from date of purchase makes absolutely no sense considering we had to wait for items to ship in. This particular item wasn’t pick up by us until the first week of October which doesn’t equal out to 90 days.

While menards has been running their 11% “off” sale literally from New Years until thanksgiving for the past 4 years they have been inflating prices to compensate for the “ savings “. Of course price increase is a normal course of business but they have been steady increasing left and right so their “sale” prices match other stores shelf prices.

Also look at menards Black Friday sale, it was very plain and minimal compared to what other stores offered. Save big money buy supporting a store who’s staff appreciate the customers who directly provide them with a paycheck and a job.

Complaint on flooring

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I retired June 23rd at my party I was given gift cards to Menards from residents and also the company this was to pick out what I wanted for flooring. We got what we wanted and installed after we were home.

Anyway around 4 months later this flooring is popping up so you stub into it. We have 5 other rooms of flooring never had trouble. Usually we buy tarrket or shaw never problems. I did contact Menards customer service but they said cant help without receipt.

Ive tried to tell them the gift card was disposed of and o receipt. I cant have it like this someone will stub toe-and fall. I hat hope we can settle get this replaced. We go to Menards a lot in grand Forks for all materials .

Thank you

Why are you complaining about Menards? You have only yourself to blame for not hanging onto a receipt until the warranty on a product expired. It is the manufacturer that backs the warranty and will need proof of the date of purchase.

They don’t need the actual gift card, they need the receipt. Why don’t you have it and why do you think you wouldn’t need it?
