The Klëravūe 'Premium' Trap: Flimsy Construction, Fake Engineering, and Delivery Nightmares

Do not be fooled by the glossy showroom displays or the higher price tag. My wife and I bought a full kitchen layout of Klëravūe cabinets from Menards, assuming that the finished white interiors meant a premium product. It is a complete marketing scam. The overall structural quality of this product severely sucks, and the delivery process is an insulting, back-breaking nightmare.

Here are the hard, undeniable facts you need to know before you spend a single dollar on this junk:

1. The Flimsy 'Wallpaper' Construction & Structural Defects:

These cabinets are built from very low-grade, low-density particleboard covered in a thin laminate that looks and feels like cheap wallpaper. Out of the box, panels are already arriving crushed, split, and chipped along the edges. The backs of the base cabinets are essentially dust covers—just two thin vertical particleboard strips with a massive open gap in the middle. There is zero metal or solid wood reinforcement. If you have an older home like our 120-year-old historic house, your wall studs will never align with their weak edge strips. Standard installation is a myth; you will have to custom-build your own internal solid wood ledger boards just to securely hang the uppers and anchor the base units.

2. The Absurd 'Kitchen Sink' Engineering Shortcut:

The ultimate insult came when we unboxed the kitchen sink base. Klëravūe doesn't even engineer-design or manufacture a dedicated farmhouse/apron sink base cabinet. Instead, they expect you to take a 30'x20' deep wall cabinet (Model: S-TQ-3020B), flip it horizontally on its side, and slap adjustable legs onto the bottom of it. Because a wall cabinet is completely enclosed and unreinforced for heavy loads, you are forced to cut your own plumbing holes into the backing and custom-build an extensive interior 2x4 support framework from scratch. Without doing this intensive DIY carpentry, a water-filled sink will easily cause the particleboard walls to bow, fail, and potentially collapse.

3. 70% Initial Damage Rate & Hostile Delivery Tactics:

A staggering 70% of our original delivery arrived broken/damaged inside the freight boxes. To make matters worse, Menards blocks you from inspecting the cargo at the time of delivery. Their third-party drivers are trained to rush away without providing proper signed paperwork, leaving you trapped with destroyed goods.

4. Abysmal Service: They Left the Heavy Lifting and Garbage to Us:

When the replacement units finally arrived despite originally paying Menards for inside-the-home delivery, the store forced us to drag all the heavy, damaged cabinets out onto our porch ourselves, claiming the driver would not step foot inside the house to execute the return items.

Furthermore, Menards flat-out refused to haul away the immense mountain of cardboard packaging debris left behind from over 18 cabinets. This left my wife and me with an unexpected, exhausting chore: breaking down massive piles of shredded freight boxes and hauling them ourselves to our city's recycling program.

Final Verdict:

Menards has zero quality control, deceptive design shortcuts, and atrocious customer service. They charge premium prices for structural garbage and force the consumer to do all the heavy lifting, cleanup, and structural rebuilding. Save your money, save your back, and buy your cabinets from a reputable company that stands behind their product.

Preferred solution: refund of paid inhome delivery fee

User's recommendation: Do your research, wish I did a better job

Menards - Hello, I recently purchased a set of...
Updated by user Aug 05, 2026

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product replacement.

Original review Jul 30, 2026
Hello,
I recently purchased a set of metal double entry doors from Menards. After installation, I noticed a significant defect in one of the doors.
The metal skin has visible dents and impressions in the area where the bore holes and handle hardware would normally be cut. It appears the wood core was bored during manufacturing, and the metal overlay has sunk or dented into those voids. The result is clearly visible on the finished face of the door and is not something that occurred during shipping or installation on my end.
This is the main entrance of my home, so the appearance matters. The defect is obvious to anyone approaching the house, and it is not the quality I expected for a product at this price point.
I am requesting a replacement door at no cost, including any labor required to remove and reinstall it.

User's recommendation: Don't order metal doors from Menards!

My installer pointed it out to me after he picked up the door and had it halfway in the opening. Menard's is replacing the slab, the placement of the dents are clearly a defect, the wood core was bored out but the metal overlay was not so the metal indents where the door handles would go on both sides of the door.

Guest

How can you state that the damage didn't happen during shipping? This is so obvious it should have been questioned before you installed the doors and since it wasn't I'd question whether it happened during installation, perhaps the door fell over and hit something causing the dents.

Guest

If it looks so obvious, how did the prrson(s) unpacking and installing it not notice?

Went to Menards store; they told me that they were discontinued.

I asked for a complaint form, and they told me they do not have those. Sorry, you are out of luck.

Pros:
  • Great place stop

Return of Vanity

AI Highlights
  • - Staff urged online vanity with return option.
  • - 25% restocking fee billed as special order.
  • - In-store display; 144 in stock online; no phone, email.
Menards - Return of Vanity

This was my first and last time shopping at a new Menards in town. The person helping suggested that we order a particular vanity online even after my daughter and I said we weren't sure if it would work.

The Menards person said that we could always return it if it didn't. Lo and behold, my floor doesn't go underneath the vanity, and this one with feet will not work. Now, they tell me there is a 25% restocking fee as they say it's a special order. Mind you, this item is displayed in the store, and the website says there are 144 in stock.

How is that a special order? Could they not have told me that up front? And there is no customer service phone number, only email! That's totally ridiculous.

Menards' customer service is terrible. I will tell anyone who listens that [PERSON_NAME] or Home Depot is the better option.

I definitely learned my lesson here. Menards is not a customer-friendly place to do business!

Loss:

Pros:
  • Nice selection
Cons:
  • Unethical sales tactics

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Do not shop at Menards unless you want surprise charges and no customer service!

No matter where you shop on-line it's always a good idea to check return policies before making a purchase of any value. You would have seen the 25% restock fee there.

If you had ordered it at the store you would have been charged the restock fee there as well as it was a special order item. If it's an odd size vanity your best bet is to have a local cabinet shop build it for you. I replaced the vanity and linen cabinet in my bathroom and had a local shop make them. Unfortunately the side of the linen cabinet was 3" deeper than the rest of the cabinet to hide the chimney pipe behind it.

This wasn't till I tore out the cabinet the day before they were coming to install it.

Fortunately they were able to modify the cabinet and still install it the next day. The charge to modify it was minimal and I didn't have to wait for a new order like you would at [GEOGRAPHIC_DATA].

Local store (15 miles from me) was out of stock for a Bosch 1/4' pro driver. Ordered from Menards online, $15 shipping.

Received a display tool, box beat to *** taped up marked 'display' missing driver bits.

Tool was obviously handled a lot. Maybe I was wrong to assume I was ordering a new in-box tool, but nowhere on their site said I was buying a display item missing parts.

Pros:
  • Fast shipping
Cons:
  • Did not send me a new tool

Preferred solution: Send me the missing driver bits or a Bosch set for my display tool.

User's recommendation: Do not order from Menards online.

If they don't send you a prepaid return label and a full refund dispute the charge with your credit card company. Look up the drill Amazon, You will probably find a better or comparable price when you factor in Menards overpriced $15 shipping charge.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product or service ordered. Instead of sending a replacement, they are arranging a plumber to come out.

I wanted a replacement unit, so I can have a plumber come and install it and pay.

Meanwhile, I will wait some more. Check exactly what their one-year warranty covers in addition to the service contract you buy.

I'm now getting emails from the service people from the ice maker's company. They keep wanting more information.

I have no more to offer. I just want it to work1

Original review Jul 10, 2026

They have been good, but not excellent, to deal with. The process has finally been started after getting the serial numbers of ice maker plus refrigerator.

This requiring my son, 25 miles away, to come and pull the refrigerator out. By doing so, damage some flooring.

The refrigerator came without any sliders. I'm waiting now to get a service person out.

Preferred solution: SERVICE! Still no resolution. What's the point of buying an extended warranty if you can't get service on an appliance that is just under the one-year warranty? I'm now dealing with the ice maker's service. They keep wanting more information.

Yesterday I once again tried shopping at your Wixom, MI store. This is the 3rd time they had no electric handicapper carts available, only 2 and mostly unavailable.

Besides myself, 2 other shoppers left disappointed. Why on earth are there only 2 carts available? Lowe's, a much smaller store in my area, has 4.

The manager says this is a common complaint in the store. If this happens to me again, I will file a complaint to the Michigan Secretary of State for discrimination.

The store is ADA compliant. It is not their job to make sure you have a cart to ride around on.

Bring your own, then you won't have this problem. It's hilarious to think you are going to complain to someone that a store isn't supplying your a cart. Do you complain at every place your shop they don't have a cart? Gas station?

McDonalds? Ha!

Rebate program

AI Highlights
  • - Rebate certificates cannot be used for online purchases.
  • - Being 228 miles away and ordering online, the rebate cannot be used by remote shoppers.

When I lived in ***, I used to shop at ****** on a regular basis with no issues. I now live in *** and recently found a good deal on a shower head at *** online.

In fact, the deal was so good that I ordered two. It wasn't until I received the rebate certificates that I realized they could not be used for online purchases. Apparently, I didn't read the fine print, but based on the reviews I've read, I'm not the first to receive this bad news. I'm not sure why *** would spend so much on advertising, just to give customers who don't live near one of their stores (I'm 228 miles away) a 'gotcha!' like this.

Whatever their reasoning, it's bound to make potential customers think twice before buying an item that carries a rebate that is worthless to them. I wish *** would rethink its rebate policy.

They don't hide the fact that the rebates are a credit check for use in their stores. When you shop on line the details are right below the price for the item.

They are also posted with the rebate information on their website as well as on the rebate form you fill out. Don't blame them for your not paying attention.

All box stores cannot return equipment that had gas or oil in it due to liability. The warranty you purchased was through Allstate and it does not go in effect until after the 1 yr manufacturer warranty is over.

You need to contact the manufacturer to fill a warranty claim.

Gas-powered return policy is posted at the entrance and exit as well as next to the equipment. This should have also been explained to you if you talked to an employee as they are all instructed to explain this process before purchase.

"I purchased a Colonial Elegance 5-Lite Barn door from the Menards in Avon Indiana. The label said clear pine.

As I was putting on the second coat of stain the wood was buckling in 6 places, because it is laminated pine not solid. I should have been warned when I saw small letters that said Made in China and anyone that is breathing knows only crap comes from China. I am 64 years old and I am sick of this crap that everyone is selling. You need to put a sign at the doors to let people know that these are laminated, I may go in with a marker and do it myself if it's not done by the next time I go in there.

Don't know when that will be because I will start going to Lowes instead and hope that they are a little more up front and honest. Bob Gruener

Did the label say anything about being solid pine. Clear pine is the finish of the exposed surface. Even door saying "solid core" are usually a particle board or in the case of a door from China possibly cardboard with a wood veneer over it.
