The salesman completely screwed up my ordered and Menard's refuses to give me a full refund on a product I can't use. They want to charge a 25% restocking fee.

I explicitly told the salesman I needed a vanity top that butted up to the wall on the right-hand side. He ordered a freestanding vanity instead.

The general manager was rude and unhelpful. Home Depot has much better customer service.

User's recommendation: Avoid shopping there. I am finding out a lot of people have had the same issue.

Monetary Loss: $350.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Menards Pros: Prices.

Menards Cons: General, General manager is rude and condescending to women.

They would have provided you with a drawing , when you ordered this vanity top. As it is custom special order.

They don't even have to accept a return of this item, per the contractyou signed. Sounds like 25 restocking fee, is better than them simply telling you, that you got what you ordered.

You don't say what material the top is made of nor what you feel is different than a "freestanding" top and one that butts up against a wall.

Freestanding would be an island, butting the wall would be against a wall with backsplash. Either the salesman not paying attention to customers instructions or the menards in house manufacturer having miscommunication. Instead of taking liability for an employee's error, they always default to blaming the consumer.

Having sold countertops for years I sold very few that had a side splash where it butted to the wall on the end. If you ordered a laminate or quartz top you should be able to go in and order a side splash which would have been a separate piece even if it had been ordered with the countertop.
