Purchased unit because i have a large family and Menards has washers in stock. Persuaded to buy LG because of 10 yr warranty.

11 days later washer breaks, it will NOT work. Menards will not take back washer, was told they can't because they won't be able to resell used washer. I said, send it back to LG as defective, they told me they couldn't and that they would call LG for me.

I have not had any service on the unit now for over 11 days. Broke 11 days after purchase and now been sitting with water in it for 11 days with NO SERVICE

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $719.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Menards Cons: Refund policy, Poor customer service, Response of corporate management.

anonymous you are that corprate fixer that still is filling folks with lies... had both washer&dryer(maytags) bought there also washer lasted 2 yrs with 3 service calls, now it is in a scrap yard, dryer lasted 1yr with 4 calls and the service man(a&e service, their guys) said it was missing 2 of the 3 trans bolts from the factory thats why the belts kept falling off and see's this kind of thing all the time with their units,as they are built to menards specs not maytags save big money, shop a real store

You are quite the *** if you think Whirlpool (they make Maytag) builds their appliances to Menards specs that say to leave out bolts. If whirlpool changes specs on an appliance the model number changes as well. If you look at the model numbers on the appliances Menards sells, they are the same as what you would buy at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears etc.

Warranties on appliances call for repair, not replacement. If you would take time to read the warranty you would have called LG service and arranged for a service call.

LG appliances have a "smart diagnostic" tool built-in. They would have had you activate the smart diagnostic tool and would know what is wrong with the machine. About 30 percent of the time there is a simple problem that they can tell you what to do over the phone to get the washer going again.

If replacement parts are needed they will have them with them on the first service call. If you want to get your washer working quit wasting your time complaining, get out your warranty and call LG for service.

It wasn't about the warranty, did you not read the complaint. It was about "customer service".

I bought a defective washer, 11 days after purchase, 11 DAYS (11 days, not 1 yr, not 6 months) 11 days. MENARDS could have taken it back!! I did call LG for a service call, jackie, in the mean time I called MENARDS to do the right thing....what don't you GET!!

SIMPLE PROBLEM, Yeah right!!

READ AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF

It wasn't a simple problem at ll my friend. The '***"smart diagnostic" that you are referring to, DIDN'T WORK!!! They tried to fix problem code it gave and replaced the clutch and error code came back and washer filled completely with water and wouldn't work or drain!!!

They ended up replacing the "brain/mother board" however you want to call it, the "MOTOR" and the "CLUTCH" of my BRAND NEW WASHER!

it broke Jan 30th and wasn't completely fixed until March 6th!!!!! Essentially I got a new washer based on all the things they had to replace to get it to FUNCTION!!

So do you have a smart butt answer for this too!!! NEW BRAIN new MOTOR AND new CLUTCH...how is that for smart diagnostics!!!

Seriously, I wasn't some dumb consumer complaining for the heck of it with a SIMPLE PROBLEM!!! Jan 30th -March 6th with NO WASHER now I essentially have a NEW washer because LG had to replace all the MAIN PARTS!!

You don't seem to understand that the warranties are provided by the manufacturer and not the retail store. It is LG that provides a repair warranty and doesn't replace the machine.

If as you say your complaint is about customer service you should be complaining about LG, not Menards.

Menards would have been more than happy to take the machine back if they could have sent it back to LG but they can't. As a consumer you need to educate yourself as to what warranties cover and if the warranty offers exchange, replacement or repair of a defective product.

OMG, I understand WARRANTIES what dont you get. The washer is fixed a month and week later.

LG didn't have service providers on our area, we had to wait for them to, in the mean time, MENARDS could have taken the product back and returned it to LG. PERIOD, the washer had a manufacturing defect 11 days after purchase, (IT NEEDED A NEW MOTHER BOARD/BRAIN< MOTOR>CLUTCH TO FUNCTION).....MENARDS policy is 7 days on manufacturing defects, we were 4 days later and they wouldn't honor it...so whats you point again, I need to read a warranty, really?

ITS NOT THE ISSUE, we spents 1000's of dollars in that store last year, won't be any longer...going back to lowes or home depot.

7 day policy on manufacturing defect, we missed it by 4 days, they wouldn't honor it, we had to wait 6 weeks for all new insides of a washer.....yeah MENARDS whahoooo

What the poster doesn't understand (see their comment below) is that retail stores can't just send a product back to a manufacturer and get credit. If there is an initial failure (you get it home and it doesn't work) It can be sent back.

Your machine worked when you got it home and failed after 11 days. LG at this point has a warranty that calls for REPAIR of their product, not replacement. They will and did repair your washer.

Again the policy not to replace the machine is that of the manufacturer who covers the warranty. If you don't feel their warranty policy is fair you should address your complaint toward them, not the retail store.

Just so all who read this Post : MAKE NOTE POSTER UNDERSTANDS WARRANTIES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!! (poster who obviously represents Menards states I do not understand warranties and store procedures which how can they know that, you don't know who I am)

IF MENARDS CAN TAKE BACK A DEFECTIVE MACHINE IN 7 DAYS IT SURE CAN TAKE IT BACK AT 11 PERIOD, DONT BELIEVE THE BULL!!

MY MACHINE IS FIXED THROUGH WARRANTY APPROX 40 DAYS LATER....WE ARE GOOD!!

LESSON LEARNED: WON'T SHOP AT MENARDS BECAUSE OF THEIR RETURN POLICY PERIOD!!
