Purchased Quartz countertop and cast iron sink on July 1, 2015. I was handed a list of installers, with a recommendation of 2 installers. I paid for the $5,200 worth of material. I waited 4 weeks for the template to arrive to my house. The installer came to my house for the exact measurements, and I returned the template the same day with several changes, including sink measurements wrong and measurements wrong that were given Mennards day of purchase. It was told to me to let my installer complete the cuts of faucets/sink because he was really good , otherwise it would take another 4 weeks for another template to arrive. Aug 20, 20215 sink and counter top installed, with the installer only doing the install of the top an sink.. not the plumbing. I then called the plumber results:

1. sink was installed wrong crooked

2. faucet/water dispenser holes did not match the cass iron sink with the opening closed half way.

Called installer with no return calls, went to Mennards , with management, assistant manager stating;

1.Any installer is not a Mennards employee and I was on my own, I needed to call the installer that took the $920 check and walked out knowing there was no way any plumbing could be connected. Even though reconmdations were given to me per staff ( 3) to let him cut the holes.

2. Upon asking more questing discovered there are list of installers for carpet/ cabinets/ plumbing/ electrical at all Mennards welcoming anyone to walk in the store fill out a form not checking license/background investigation/ felonies/or even if they have the skills trade of that specific job etc. and not concern about the customers safety or end quality of work done. When a list of installers are handed to customers they are an extension of Mennards and the quality delivered or not even have a list available , let the public know its all about the sell of the product and at the bottom dollar!

For a nationwide corporation I believe you should look closely to your reflection of respect and integrity.

I now have over $6000 in this project and unable to use my sink or have running water!!

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $5000.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Each department in a Menards store has sheets from installers on the front of the service desk in the department. Each sheet has only one contractor listed along with the services they offer.

If you take time to read the sheet it clearly tells you that the contractor is not affiliated with Menards in any way and that it is your responsibility to check references. Unlike other Big Box stores who hire the contractor for you Menards gives you the opportunity to meet the contractors and decide which one to hire.

You also have the opportunity to check their references and check what insurance coverages they carry and whether they are licensed or not. Did you take time to check your contractor out before you hired him?

Correction: Menards does not "give you the opportunity to meet the contractors and decide which one to hire" Nor do they provide the "opportunity to check references and check what insurances they carry and weather they are licensed or not." The "service" they provide is nothing more then the thumbtack cork board ads found at a grocery store entrance. Not only does Menards provide a free clueless blank stare when you ask for advice beyond whats printed on the back of the box but they also provide no assistance with labor.

Other big box stores provide a contractor who's verified, experienced and background checked prior to stepping in to any customers house. Of course other big box stores also permit you to buy the materials yourself without having them installer via a contracted laborer though the store. So again what "service" does menards provide? A free pin up ad list where any Tom, Di*k or Harry can post any nonsense he or she desires as you learned the hard way.

Take your money to a business that genuinely appreciates your business, not some clownfest company that makes excuses left and right, provides absolute zero customer service and has over 1200 complaints on here of frustrated customers.

Considering they have just under 300 stores that averages out to over 4 complaints on here per location which far excesses any other business on here. Reflected in menards F rating for the BBB

How can you say you didn't have the opportunity to meet the contractor you hired? If you didn't have him come to your house to bid your job that is your fault.

They didn't hire the contractor nor did the force you to hire them, the choice was entirely yours. As you hired the contractor nothing stopped you from checking references or calling your city or state office that licenses contractors. You seemed to be able to check Menards at the BBB, what stopped you from checking the contractor? Looks like you are looking for someone to blame for your poor research in hiring a contractor.

Had you purchased from another big box you would have been stuck with who ever they sent. Just look at the complaints they have for installations.
