Everyone that is defending this fee is talking about the extra work to pull merchandise but it is charging me to have it shipped to my home regularly no store pull in addition to shipping charges so I have to pay someone at the warehouse to do their job? Also we tried to get someone in store to order the product or tell us when it would be restocked and we would just get next time we were in or once they arrived since it was a regular out of stock item and she said it would be easier for us to just order online. Clearly this is just a way they have found to offset the rebates .

Every single company charges an online fee. They just sometimes charge you more for their product or more for shipping so you don't actually see that cost. It's cute that you think some people aren't charging it.

This is not true. Take as an example a Moen Adler kitchen faucet.

$64.00 at both Menards and Home Depot (7-23-2019). Home Depot will ship it to your home free. Menards will start by adding a $2.80 order processing fee plus shipping. Face it, Menards wants people to shop in their stores.

They discourage on-line orders with processing and shipping fees. Use them only if their price is the best as there are other lower cost alternatives out there.

Face it, Menards is a big box retail company, not a mail order company. They would much rather have customers come into their stores and shop than to purchase on-line.

When you wander around their stores you are much more likely to pick up items you hadn't intended on buying which is more profitable than your purchasing the few items you actually needed on-line. Most people that live near a store would rather go to the store than pay the fees they charge for ordering on-line.
