At 9:01 pm the doors were locked, but opened by an employee. Contact was made with a manager.

A request was made for a piece of 2 in. PVC pipe to fix a furnace that was not working. (IA temp 10 degrees) The manager said the cash registers were closed. No sale!

Cash was offered so they could put it in the register in the morning with no change requested.

No sale! In freezing weather, there was no hope for a freezing rural home.

Product or Service Mentioned: Menards Manager.

Reason of review: Emergency-no heat-no sale.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Menards Cons: Way i was treated in an emergency.

Sounds like entitlement to me. The store was closed.

I'm so sick and tired of people thinking they deserve special treatment.

LIKE SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, it does NOT make Menard's look very good!

You could have made an online purchase with the pick at store option. Would have been pretty easy to have a team member go grab it off the shelf and have you sign for it.

Like Anonymous said this is hardly an emergency. There are several reasons why they would not do such a transaction.

Main reason it would look very odd to corporate for them to reopen after the store should have been closed. Hanging onto your cash until the morning is nothing but a liability issue. Did you call up Ace Hardware and be like I need some PVC it's an emergency! What do you think their response would have been?

Menards is not the only place that sells PVC. Heck there are all sorts of other solutions!

The store was closed simple as that. I don't see you posting about other stores that were closed............

I don't understand how you are going to fix a furnace with PVC. Unfortunately you got to the store after they were closed down of the night.

What do you mean there is no hope? Just do like most people would do and call a repair service.

Put yourself in warm clothing, wear layers and cover yourself with blankets. If people cold keep warm in the stone ages it is not impossible, one day of cold will not kill you so this is NOT an emergency.
