I installed a tru bolt exterior door *** and dead bolt on the front door of my new house. Well the dead bolt wouldn't turn on the inside and would only turn with the key.

That does little good when trying to sleep at night. It is a worthless waste of money. I have been installing door lock systems for MANY of years and this one takes the cake. Never again will I shop Menards for components.

Lumber may be out also. They put the cheapest, crappiest products out on their shelves. And then the icing on the cake...my wife threw the receipt away so I cannot even return it to get my money back.

Lesson learned. Heading to Lowes for now on.

Product or Service Mentioned: Door.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $25.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Menards has one of the easier return policies in the business. You can go to the service counter and pull up receipts.

Menards is also very cooperative if you paid cash. Although on the lower end, tru-bolt is not of any lower quality thankwickset. Not an employee!

Menards sell trash locks, period. There are many complaints on this site, and others, about their worthless locks.

Where are you going to go that sells anything different than Menards? Menards sells cheap locks (tru-bolt) better locks (kwikset) and best locks (Schlage).

Home Depot and Lowes sell the same line up except that the cheap locks at Home Depot are Defiant and Lowes has Guardian. The problem isn't that they offer cheap locks for those that are too cheap to buy a good lock. The problem is people buying a cheap lock and expecting it to preform like a more expensive, quality lock.

You get what you pay for and if cheap poor quality is what you pay for, that is exactly what you get. Just don't understand all the complaining about getting exactly what you paid for.

So, if you get one that doesn't work take it back. They will give you your money back as long as you can keep track of your receipt, if not you'll get a store credit for their lowest sale price (they have no idea of when you bought it or what you paid for it without the receipt).

You have a choice in what you purchase. Yes they have the cheapest crappiest products on the shelf for those who are too cheap to buy a quality lock like Schalge, which are also on the shelf.

It was your choice to protect your home with a cheap *** lock rather than spending the money on a quality lock. What are you going to buy at Lowes that you couldn't have purchased at Menards? Why are you blaming Menards for your choice of door locks?

They offer locks for those people that don't want to spend the money on a quality lock and they also offer the quality locks as well. Not their fault you didn't want to pay for a quality lock.

Menards sells the worst door locks, see the other post about the junk locks they sell on the Menards complaints main page. I would not buy anything else at Menards either.
