The manufacturer's specs is a width of 5 3/16 ths of an inch plus or minus 1/16 th. The pieces I was shipped varied 3/8.
Some were 4 7/8 and some 5 1/4. real hard to line up and get a pro looking job. Many were so crooked or wavy I had to send back. First order had a 30% scrap rate.
There was no problem returning and replacing but why would anyone want to lose that much time installing and sorting? After installing again, I find they are cupping and hold water when it rains. They tell me it would be replaced no problem-just ***, load it up, haul to store, order and wait for new shipment and reinstall again. They will let you go through this for a ten year warrantee period.
Sure glad I bought their "top of the line ***". I think I will wait until next summer to rip off again.
I'm tired of decking for the summer. By the way, the fastening system isn't even close to being easy when the boards are warped.
