When a truck from the Menards distribution center arrives at the store the bill of lading number is entered in the computer. All items attached to the bill of lading are received.

If there were special order items an e-mail would be sent at that time. The materials on the truck are then put away. At no time do they check to verify the items on the bill of lading are actually there. Over the years they determined that the amount of payroll dollars spent checking in products wasn't justified by the small amount of errors they found.

There are times that a pallet gets slipped into the wrong bay and go to a different store or gets loaded onto a wrong truck.

Other times when they are putting product away in the store it gets put in a wrong bin causing the situation you are encountering. Sure they will re-order it for you but they won't be willing to spend any of that money they saved on payroll in giving you any sort of compensation for the delay in your project.

If i ordered that much material, got an E-mailed delivery confirmation, and nothing showed up, i would damn well be pissed! Professional contractors are dependent on their suppliers to be able to deliver when they schedule deliveries.

Having to follow up after an E-mail or phone call confirming the delivery is a waste of their valuable time. If Menard's can't figure that out that they are 100% at fault, They shouldn't be trying to attract professional contractor business if they are unable or unwilling to provide adequate service. I have been in a construction supply business of some sort since 1984, and i would never let something like this happen. It's a terrible statement of menard's capabilities and customer service, and if anyone at Menard's gave a damn they would fix it.

But it has been going on for years because Menard's doesn't pay their delivery services worth a crap. The only people that will deliver for them are the bottom of the barrel delivery services and trucking companies that can't get any other business.

Take a look at the complaints for Lowes and Home Depot. You will see a lot of complaints on appliances there as well.

If you want an assured delivery date for an appliance only buy an appliance that is in stock at the store you buy it from. Appliance manufacturers deliver to the store once a week from their warehouses and the appliance SHOULD be delivered on the next truck after the purchase. Unfortunately sometimes the warehouse is out of stock. In an ideal situation the manufacture would let the store know it is out of stock so the could notify their customer there will be a delay.

They don't. The store finds out when the truck shows up with a packing slip marked backordered. The manufacturer will tell the store it should be on next weeks truck. No way to know for sure till the truck gets there with the appliance and at times it will be backordered again.

Blame the manufacturer for those delays.

As far as the driver not being on time, that's on Menards. They need to find a more dependable delivery service.

The high processing and shipping charges should have been a tip off in the first place. Had you looked at their return policy and restocking charges for returns?

You are much safer shopping in their stores as you can see what you are buying. Even there be cautious of special orders as there is a 25% restock charge on those as well.

How do you "accidentally" place an order? Why would you enter your credit card information if you didn't mean to place an order?

Menards primary business is a chain of brick and mortar stores with on-line orders as a supplement to the stores. If you need human assistance go to or call any of the over 300 stores.

If you haven't talked to the store manager or one of the assistant store mangers, call them. They can send e-mails to the appropriate people at the distribution center and their general office to make sure this gets put on the next truck headed their way.

Why didn't you just go to the store in the first place? You could have seen the product you were purchasing and saved their shipping and handling charges as well. I can guarantee that the store isn't going to give you a better return policy for your on-line order than you have already seen.

Was it discontinued by the manufacturer? Manufacturers frequently changes models and features on their appliances. If this is the case and you still need the microwave pick another one and use the credit towards it.
