I have come to realize that menards uses their "rebates" as a way to trick customers into paying more than planned for merchandise. Rebate checks never come and the company's standard reply is that "people steal them out of mailboxes".

I received that response from rebates international, store managers and cashiers at different times. I purchased a large amount of home remodeling supplies during their 11% rebate days. I only purchased from menards rather than Home Depot because of the "rebate". According to the tracking on their site, they issued me a check.

When I contacted them about not receiving it, they reissued a check. That check never arrived either. I have a locked mailbox and I open all mail. Unless menards is suggesting that employees of the United States post office are conspiring against them to steal checks from them, the problem is on their end.

I suspect that they make getting their rebates so difficult that people give up or forget about it which makes them millions. My suggestion, don't ever count on getting your rebates, it's a company wide scam.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Same boat here...I'm out over $200 and checked every bit of mail for over a month after I saw on their website it had been mailed.

Yup. It is indeed a scam.

But as long as people flock to them it will continue. People need to stop enabling them and start shopping elsewhere.

Do you realize the rebated do not come in an envelope that you would open? In the past they were a single layer post card and are now a folded card.

Bet you threw them away. I've never had a problem with their rebates in all the years they have been offered.

I know how it comes, the cashier warned me. It never came.

If you search menard rebate problems you will find hundreds of complaints regarding this. And why would menards disguise their rebates as junk mail anyway?

Again, so consumers get fed up and give up rewarding the company with millions of extra revenue. Shame on you menards.

The program obviously works for most people otherwise you'd see people flocking to Lowes and Home Depot. Just look at their parking lots and you'll know this isn't happening.
