The issue of menards permitting direct tv sales staff to loiter within the store for hours has been an ongoing issue for the past few years, however has increasingly become worse. I work as a home remodel contractor so use about 6 different menard's stores for products depending which one is closest to the current job site.

Each and every time I have gone into each of the stores there has been a folding table type booth randomly placed in the rear of the store with a vendor for direct tv who always asks who I have for a cable tv provider. Doesn't matter if its early on a weekday, late on a weeknight or weekend afternoon, there always there. I either play deaf, or tell him not at this time, or tell him i don't work at the store, then he moves on to another customer browsing to harass. When I mention to the staff how annoying it is being essentially panhandled within the store they look remorseful and tell them its menards corporate idea to "rent" out the space to the vendor and have him solicit each and every person who walks past them.

Its gone to the point where they no longer just loiter at the folding table but now have multiple direct tv employees aimlessly roaming the store and harass customers. Today when I was selecting electrical conduit, right angle connections, and a circuit breaker box along with the salesman who knows me on a first name basis. This direct tv vendor who who usually is in the rear of the store comes up to us in the front corner of the store, disturbs our conversation and says "sir, who is your cable tv provider? " I tell him I have antenna tv and worker very good for the packers / cardinals game last night if that was okay with him?

I then tell him every time I come to any menards store I as well as everyone else is sick of dealing with people like you, if we wanted to do business with your company we are fully capable call ourself and don't need to be constantly harassed being asked the same thing over and over and over. He looks at me and replays "dude, f*c* you". The salesclerk working with me looked absolutely remorseful and embarrassed for what occurred however acknowledged the store receives endless complaints about these salesmen menards invites into the store. He then tells me he shares in the frustration menards allows these people in the store but yet would not permit his granddaughter and friends to sell girl scout cookies near the front entrance since apparently it would compete with the grocery department in the store.

The store manager was unavailable to speak with at that time however I'll explain my frustration to him as well soon. This direct tv promo may get a small kickback for menards but trust me it costing them customers left and right.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

I expect that Menards has weighted how many customers they will *** off with Direct TV people against the millions they pay to put a table in their stores. I guess the millions DirectTV pays wins out over having happy customers.

while they can be annoying you did treat him rude and disrespectfully so what did you expect but him to say that?

how about just saying what I do when i'm asked "no thank you not interested" and walk away.

it only takes a few seconds and relieves you of having to resort to being a *** like you were to him.
