I just want everyone to know that the menards in crestwood steal your items if you do not have a receipt and you can't pull it up by one of their keosks. My husband went to return somethings that he was told to return by his boss and they wouldn't give him a store credit or his merchandise back.

How legal is that?

When he tells them that he just wants the items back they give him an excuse "you do not have a receipt" that makes no sense to me that they can keep the items. I think that is stealing.

Monetary Loss: $150.

Just because your husband makes more money than a menards employee means nothing... there are plenty reports of blue collar and white collar crime.

It doesn't matter how much you make. Everyone is accesible to stealing... and everyone that you accuse for being a Menards employee is correct. Menards will look at the return..

if it is questionable, simply hold the merchandise while it is sent to the General office to review. Then the general office will contact you on how the return will be handled. In my experience from WORKING at the SERVICE COUNTER( yes, I work at Menards too) this takes less than a week to handle and usually works for your benefit (not ours). The only problem is that most guests want their money back NOW, and fail to see how easy this process is if you are innocent.

I believe your story, however at some times it is beneficial to have a little paitience. What were you returning? It was probably a high theft or high priced item? Would you think twice before paying a bill for 200 dollars when usually you deal with 10-20 dollar bills?

I think you would do some investigating as well.

That is all Menards needed to do.. and you would have your money back in no time( since you are "innocent").

WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE THE *** PEOPLE WRITE! FIRST OF ALL WHEN YOU TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE SOMETHING BAD ABOUT A COMPANY MAYBE YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE YOU ARE SPELLING WORDS CORRECTLY AS IT MAKES YOU LOOK DUMB AND IGNORANT.

MY PERSONNEL EXPERIENCES WITH MENARD'S HAVE BEEN GREAT. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR KIOSKS (PLEASE NOTE SPELLED CORRECTLY) PROBABLY AS I AM AN HONEST PERSON NOT TRYING TO GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING.

IF YOU CAN NOT GET YOUR RECEIPT THEN IT'S BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR IT AND YOUR A THIEF. STOP WASTING PEOPLES TIME READING SUCH DRIZZLE AND GET AN EDUCATION AND TELL YOUR HUSBAND TO PAY FOR IT NEXT TIME INSTEAD OF TRYING TO PULL A FAST ONE.

Very pissed, why are you on here this happened to your husband not you. Does he not know how to use a computer?

But besides the point, he clearly is not a contractor nor does he work for one because we all know how to get around returning items without a receipt if you absolutely can not find it. All you have to do is go talk to your account representative at the contractor desk and they will search through the computer to help you find a copy by using the contractor card number and if they can not find it if you do enough volume with the store they will over ride the no retuen and give you a refund.

But like I suspect your husband probably doesn't work for a contactor and never has, and is probably some dumpster n!gger who stole it from some honest workers truck. So next time let your husband fight his own battles.

i work at crestwood menards & we have to deal with ignorant people like you & your husband. we deal with thieves all the time.

this is how it works...if you don't have your reciept more then 3 times it goes in the computer & we are not allowed to return anything because 98% of the time the mercahndise is stolen. If your husband was doing what he was told then his boss should have held on to his receipt like all the other business owners contractors or anyone who is returning "left overs" AND one more thing people like you & your husband who cause a scene we hate serving people like you. We sit up there and deal with all the b.s because you can't hold on to a piece of paper.

its not our problem that your hubbys boss is irresponsible. Next time your husband should tell him to do it himself or hold on to the receipt.

Ive stated this before but this is legal. The merchandise is held while the security dept investigates.

The merch is held with intent on giving a refund if the security dept can not find if it was stolen.

In this case if it was found to be stolen than its obvious that Menards did the right thing. Why would you expect to get the product back or a store credit back when we recovered stolen merchandise.

I worked at Menards for awhile. There are more than enough people in the front end to make sure no one steals something you cant put in your pocket.

In fact there are a couple people who sit there behind a desk all day, and they have a store security room too. And cameras everywhere. And employees everywhere. Surveillance from HQ can tap into any store and write employees up for standing around and talking for more than a few minutes, and they do.

If someone gets away with stealing, it is because someone at Menards failed to do their job. People become indifferent when their hard work is not appreciated or they are underpaid, and that is why there is a theft problem there, because run of the mill employees are bitter and could give a *** if someone stole something, they are still getting their $240 per week no matter what. Its sad, I know but it's real. The store needs either a robin hood, or some other incentive besides profit sharing, which only significantly benefits those who are managers.

Stealing is wrong and Menards would be a *** of a place to work if the pay was commensurate to the workload and knowledge one needs to acquire to help pro's who have been doing their trade for 10+ years. But if someone is stealing from you, then you are letting them steal from you.

Woman, why do you feel the need to compare your husband's income to the incomes of Menards employees? No matter how much he makes, it is completely irrelevant.

"My dad can beat up your dad!" Also, it is often the case that people who brag about things are telling lies to cover up for their inadequacies. You probably have overextended yourself and have a mountain of debt. Your husband goes around and breaks into contractor vehicles to steal their tools and go and try to sell them back. You married a common thief, which is not surprising given how *** you have proven yourself to be.

Yes, a cashier or a part-timer does not make much money. But general managers make more than pharmacists, assistant store managers make more than the median attorney income, and department managers (for the larger departments) make north of 60k, and then there are all of the bonuses and profit sharing. So stop judging others.

Or, never go shopping, never get gas, never call a customer service hotline, refuse the services of an EMT next time you're in an accident, because all of these people make so much less than your thief husband. Get a life, find something you can be proud of and stop being a crazy ***

To Justice1982, I wouldn't rely too heavily on the computer inventory. It has been my experience with Menards that their computer says something is in stock and in reallife it isn't.

I ordered something on the 8th of august and on the 15th the computer said it was in. I went to the store on the 17th and it was nowhere to be found. Had to reorder with a delivery date of the 26th.

I showed up (I haven't seen it yet) on the 27th. So much for relying on the computer...

Justice1982 is exactly right. Its called policy they were probaby pricy items and your husband didnt have his receipt.

The cashier probably had her manager check the counts and when one was sold last and it came up suspicious. So the cashier was doing her job to stop a theif and im not saying your husband stole it but someone did and they didnt give it back because if they did someone would try to return it to a different store and rip them off. and if it wasnt your husband then why do you care? and your husband would have been given a hand written invoive or PO and a card of who helped him so he does have proof and when this does happen the manager fills out a report and faxes it to the general office.

and im sure your husband makes sooooo much money because he works for theifs! would you rather they arrest your husband there or keep the merchandise and catch who really stole it?

just quit *** because you have no idea what your talking about. and i do work at menards not going to lie people like you make my day i love how *** you are =]

Why would he try and return it without a receipt? Who paid for it in the first place?

I would run away from this situation, sounds like it could get worse for your husband if you keep pushing it. What did the boss do to become implicated in theft?

To 'justice', 'just wondering', and 'just observing'?? Are you just kidding??

Can you just be honest and admit that you are a Menardite who has been assigned the task, or merely take it upon yourself, to defend the store? Can you just try to disguise yourself and come off as regular customer. Can you at least not be so insulting and try to be nice? Your attitude does Menards no favors.

As for me, Home Depot has never let me down. Thanks.

If you feel so strongly that Menards is wrong in what they did why don't you call the Crestwood police department and make a complaint? I think you will find Menards security department will be more than willing to assist the police department in getting the merchandise to the rightful owner with the proper documentation of ownership (RECEIPTS).

They will also be more than willing to help assist in seeing that theives like your husbands boss and those that helped him commit the theft are prosicuted. If what they were doing wasn't stealing his boss wouldn't have been fired. The merchandise should have been returned for credit to the companies account.

As I said before your husband is an accomplace to the crime. Let the police department decide whether to press charges agaist Menards or your husband for being involved in the theft from your husbands employer.

You really shouldn't speak unless you know what you are talking about. Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

The merchandise was already paid for by the company. It was left over and was going to get tossed. My husband was just doing what he was told because he didn't want to get in trouble. He later found out that his boss was not being honest.

It is not his fault. However he was told to get the merchandise back and you guys won't give it back. Its already been paid for. I'm sure the consumers that read these post are very interested on how Menards treats there customers wheather you think they are criminals or not.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? You guys just make yourselves look like a bunch of *** by speaking your nasty comments.

Look lady, I can read very well. You clearly stated your husbands boss was FIRED for asking his employees to return product that didn't belong to him so he could keep the money.

YOU don't seem to understand that this is stealing. By returning the stolen merchandise your husband is an accomplace to the crime. Menards is trying to stop a ring of common criminals from profiting from the loss of others.

I think you may find the merchandise in question will be returned to the rightful owners if they can prove the merchandise was purchased and not taken off the shelves of the store. Don't blame retailers for wanting to stop a ring of theives like your husband got involved with, intentionally or not.

Well well well, another menards employee to the rescue. Since you are so observant you should learn how to read and comprehend.

I don't have time for your childish games. My husband makes more money than a menards employee like you.

He doesn't need to steal anything. So all i have to say to you is you can go *** yourself.

So you admit you husband was returning stolen merchandise. He claims he stole merchandise left over from jobsites.

A theif is a dishonest person.

How do you know he wasn't stealing from Menards and claiming it was left over product? Your *** shouldn't be with Menards but you husband and the crooks he hangs aroung with at work.

This is to justice1982. You know so much, you must be a menards employee.

Well for your information they did give him a invoice and told him that someone would be calling and no one ever did. They have no evidence that he took this merchandise because it turns out that its not even theirs. My husbands boss got fired because they found out that he was asking employees to go return merchandise that was left over from job sites so that he could keep the money. The merchandise came from the company that they order from not menards.

So if it is not menards merchandise than why are they keeping it?

My husband is not a theif and you are a real *** for saying that. Menards is run by a lot of snot nose punks and it sure sounds like your one of them.
