DO NOT buy any gas powered equipment from Menards! Lawn mowers, generators, snow blowers, power washer - NO WAY! You'll be sorry! They sell the cheapest JUNK - then when it doesn't work from DAY ONE - YOU are SOL! No return or replace if you put gas and oil in. No kidding? How are you supposed to TRY and use it?

Manager "Bill" & an associate Stooge gave me the name of some service center 10 miles away where I could take it for warranty repair - my time - my gas money - to have their junk fixed. How long will it take "˜til JUNK is fixed?

"Bill"'s employees couldn't take defective unit to service center due to "insurance reasons"….. All I wanted was replacement - NOT my $ back.

Terrible, terrible - Menards = HEADACHE!

Yea sure - "manufacturers' policy." Pathetic attempt to cover your sorry ***

Can't wait to see the lame excuses the MENARDS MINIONS post to cover their BS - All I wanted was an exchange for a working unit. AVOID MENARDS OR YOU'LL BE SORRY!

Product or Service Mentioned: Menards Manager.

Monetary Loss: $2.

I purchaced a tiller from Menards. Took it out of the box put gas in it and pulled the cord.

The starting mechanism was bad out of the box. This was never started or used. They refused to exchange it because I put gas in it. I explained I never used it.

They then asked if I was a Mechanic and really knew if it was broke. OMG are you kidding.

If i used it and it broke I will understand the policy buy new out of the box broke Really? I think this stinks.

How is it menards fault if its the venders policy? by the way, pretty much all stores have the same policy on gas powered equipment.Just go get it repaired. Are you seriously incapable of handling any of the small stresses of life?

Sir, just so you know, it actually IS a manufacturer warranty. With items that don't have gas in it, we can print out a sticker for the refund and either have it compacted or sent back to the manufacturer.

But when it comes to gas powered merchandise, the sticker says "Can no be defected" etc etc.

In order for US to get the money back from the Vendor, they require we get a form filled out from the service center along with the defective merchandise. Otherwise like you would be, we just lost that money.

As the saying goes, you get what you paid for. I spend the equivalent

of a third world country's GNP at Menards every year. That being said,

a $100 chainsaw is a $100 paper weight. Be a smart shopper. Ask

around and do your research and buy quality. Menards offers okay gas powered equipment, not great equipment. Ask the sales person to go over what to do and how to set it up. Other wise, go elsewhere. Try the smaller stores and pay extra for the personal service. Your choice.

I live near Kenosha, WI. THIS STORE IS SECOND TO NONE when it

comes to costumer service. It has nothing to do with my spending.

I am just another face.

Instructions are there for a reason. READ THEM. I have ADHD and I still read them anyway.

I do buy at Lowes and at Home Depot. Living in the USA has it's advantages. Farm and Fleet, Sears etc.

simonHedge:

I can see the No Return for Refund after use. But junk units should be exchanged.

Indeed consumers SHOULD make their own decisions based on feedback - not from clowns like you calling them whiners, have a boyfriend, play with Barbies, et al. Your drivel clearly showcases a pronounced lack of credibility, character and sense by both you and your employer.

Hankll: Just an FYI. Things used to be different at menards with gas powered equipment.

The only reason this started is because VENDORS kept getting so many units back and got fed up with it. This is a vendor policy. You have no idea what goes on in the business world or why policies are made. If you don't like the policy that is fine but stop whining about it and let other people make their own decisions.

Unless you think you know what everyone wants and expects. :cry

You and your MENARDS cronies have an awful self-serving way of looking at this. Respectable and reputable businesses stand behind their products. MENARDS sells cheap JUNK with lower prices - and yes, I fell victim to your “marketing.” Local hardware stores might be a bit higher priced - but they DO repair equipment AND value customers far more than you and 13-year MENARDS employee SimonHedge (see his charming comments below).

Defective products can’t be returned for refund - I can see that point. But refusing to exchange a lemon for working unit is unacceptable. You are correct - I did not read fine print on receipt. Until this episode I thought MENARDS was a decent place to shop and stood behind their products. What a dream.

My goal is to alert as many unsuspecting customers as I can that MENARDS leaves the repairs up to the customer. “Here’s the address for the repair shop. You can take it there and have them fix it.”

“We can’t take it to repair shop due to insurance reasons,” according to Manager “Bill.”

I’m encouraging EVERYONE to tell EVERYONE - NO gas-powered equipment from MENARDS or you’ll be sorry. And MENARDS employees will rip on you for good measure. Honor and decency are out the window @ MENARDS.

You do realize this is all stores not just Menards. And if you *** *** customers don't read all of that writing on the back of the receipt that is there for a reason. It would probably save you a trip if you just open your eyes.

Does Menards foster a great corporate culture, or what?

Simon - a 13-year MENARDS employee posted:

Did you put oil in it? Did you read the manual? Do you speak english? Wait, wait... did you put gas in it? What was wrong with it anyway?? My guess is it wouldn't start. That is because YOU screwed something up. All gas equipment is tested by vendors before it is sent out. That is why the "it didn't start" line actually transltes to "i'm an ***, please forgive me and give me another one to *** up." 99% of the time equipment malfunctions are due to idiots like you that have no idea what they are doing. Maybe you should stick to the barbie dolls next time and leave the gas powered equipment for your boyfriend ...

What a GREAT GUY, eh?

Never said power washer didn't start, but Simon assumes so. Flies into a juvenile rant.

Unit started - ran rough and choked out under load.

Just glad to see Simon exhibit MENARDS corporate colors on this forum for everyone to see.

I take back that stuff all the time, and I am a Store manager. If it was bought a few hours prior, and it doesnt work.

I have bought all my lawn equipment from Menards and they all work fine. The only issue I had was with my *** wacker.
