PURCHASED A 3-PACK OF POLAROID LED BULBS FROM DAVISON. MI MENARDS; DROVE 5 HRS HOME.

WENT TO INSATLL BULBS IN CEILING FAN ONLY TO FIND THE METAL BULB THREADED BASES WERE NOT ATTACHED TO THE BULB (NOT GLUED/NOT CRIMPED IN PLACE) NEXT TRIP TO DAVISON TRIED TO RETURN BULBS. TOOK SEVERAL EMPLOYEES AND TWO MANAGERS TO ALL TELL ME THAT AS BULBS ARE NOT CARRIED IN STOCK ANY MORE, THAT I COULD NOT OBTAIN A REFUND NOR EXCHANGE. ONE ELECTRICAL DEPT EMPLOYEE ADMITTED THAT MENARDS HAD EXPERIENCED SEVERAL MINOR HOME FIRES DUE TO THIS PRODUCT SO THEY DROPPED THE PRODUCT LINE. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE; I PAID ALMOST $30.00 OF HARD EARNED MONEY, + GAS + TIME ONLY TO HAVE A REFUND DENIED?

FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION + BBB + ALL MENARDS CITY LICENSING AUTHORITIES WILL BE HEARING THIS STORY. ONE NEWSPAPER IS CURRENTLY INTERESTED IN CARRYING MY COMPLAINT....A $30.00 REFUND AS DULY APPROPRIATE WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR LESS COSTLY TO MENARDS MANAGEMENT. OUR COMPANY IS REBUILDING/REFURBISHING JUST OVER A DOZEN CONDOS VERY NEAR A MENARDS BUT WE WILL USE HOME DEPOT AND NEGOTIATE ON THE FREIGHT! HOW DO CORPORATIONS SUCH AS MENARDS STAY IN BUSINESS?

NAIVE PUBLIC; DON'T WORRY MENARDS MANAGEMENT.............. WE WILL EDUCATE AS MANY FOLKS AS WE CAN.

Product or Service Mentioned: Polaroid Light Bulb.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $200.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Putting aside why anyone drives 5 hours for bulbs, being that was not the issue at hand nor is it anyone’s business why a consumer selects a store to give their hard earned money for a product. My concern is this: If the product has been taken off the market because of a possible fire hazard wouldn’t any reputable company (like Polaroid) simple refund money or minimally replace with comparable product?

I must say, I’m especially concerned because I have bulbs that, although not the same they are very similar and after installing eight (8) of them in my Attrium three (3) weeks ago they have already blow out and did so by in a way I have never experienced before.

Being a 56 year old woman having no construction experience it crossed my mind that this type of problem was one that could be a fire hazard but I realize how naive I really am now, as I allowed myself to dismiss my concerns because these were Polaroid and they are a reputable company that would not keep a product on the shelf after knowing of any posssible hazards. I’m away from home not able to return for another week, while my heart is beating uncontrollably after just reading this post.

Your so full of it! 5 hour drive for light bulbs.

Quit being such a victim.

Menards has the easiest return policy anywhere. And if there where you're tired related to light bulbs , we would have heard about it before some whiner on the web!

Your receipt clearly states that returns after April of 2015 would be in store credit. Why are you just now addressing a two year old issue.

Really, it is consumers like you that cause prices to rise and the rest of us to suffer. Be fair and act on your complaints in a timely manner and follow store policy.

Why would anyone drive 5 hours for light bulbs?

Yeah...the receipt attached cleary states these were purchased in 2015...plenty of time for any claim of defection to be invalidated, which typically 90 days....what the *** is wrong with people like you? And over 30 bucks too, while claiming to be some big shot contractor.

I'm really curious why you had to drive 5 hours to buy these bulbs. Couldn't you find them somewhere closer?

So you bought something two years ago (doesn't really matter what it is). You claim it didn't work, then you waited 2 years to try to return it and you're shocked that they wouldn't accept it? I'm sure a newspaper is VERY interested in carrying your complaint, it's their version of "People of WalMart"...sometimes highlighting ridiculous people is a great way to drum up tabloid-type interest in media.

According to the receipt attached these are two years old! Are you for real?

Why is it any retailers responsibility to return anything after TWO YEARS?! If you have an issue after that long take it up with the manufacturer.

The FTC and BBB are going to have a good laugh about this one. Get a life.

I'd be willing to bet that you are not telling the whole story. My guess is that you left out the part about not having a receipt to 1st

show that you purchased the bulbs at Menards and 2nd, what you paid for them if in fact you made the purchase at Menards.

Not having a receipt is about the only reason they wouldn't accept the return on something like light bulbs. If you had paid for them with a credit or debit card they even have a kiosk by the returns desk where you can look up your receipt. They will even give you in store credit for merchandise for the lowest sale price on products they currently stock. Once a product has been discontinued and no longer in their system they have no way of looking up past selling prices without your receipt.

Hopefully this experience will be an educational one and you will bring your receipt whenever you make a return at any store. Believe it or not, it is common for retail stores not to accept returns without a receipt.
