When I asked the manager John if he could look up what te sae price washe saidthey dont do tha for people. I reminde him if i had a no recieptreturn they would knowthe sale price. he staed i am hnging up and then hung up.

what ever happened to good business? say i own a car lot and showed a price of $20,000.00 on said vehicle and you wanted one i had to order and its also on sale at that time saving you money...however when i called you to pick it up the price was $25,000.00 because i failed to put your order in corectly and it wasnt even what you wanted because someone put the order forms in the wrong place and i said too bad enjoy your car.....yeah i think the employees of menards should be evaluated i have found for the most part they are very friendly and helpful people but on the other hand i have also found some to be very lazy and avoiding work...i recently landscaped my mother in laws yard and purchased 200 bags of ozark granite rock and when it was paid for the lady at the counter and the security gate man said someone would be there to help me....however when the employees see that we are driving a van and they would have to be loaded by hand they never showed up....

alright i can understand once but this happened 9 times because i can only haul 20 at a time.....the last trip a young man from the store came over with his fork lift and moved the skid of rock close as he could to the vehicle and physically helped me maybe this young man could be management material?

thank you who ever you were and keep up the good work!!!!! effingham, illinois

Hold on. I am a very loyal customer of many different Menard's locations.

I myself have had issues with John in the Effingham store. Believe me when I tell you that he lacks any CSR skills. If a secret shopper from the GO...general office..ever had an interaction with him he would be fired on the spot. I have met these people and they are very concerend with the skill set of their managers.

I truly have direct lines of communication with some of them.

The only reason I have not reported him is the fact that I don't want to really be responsible for someone losing his job. However about one more incident I might be inclined to change my view!

I hate when *** people say and i will quote the author of this article "They needto remember withoutcustomeersthey wont have a pay check. They need to learn their checks are available by us" Yes it is true that with out customers retail employees would not have a job.

But what is also true is that Menards is a busniess and the goal of all busineses is to make money.

If a business is not profitable there is no jobs for employees either. That is why rules are in place to protect the business people that try to cheat the sysytem and retards like you.

Why does everyone that sets foot in a retail store think they can run the store better than current management? First off the purpose of having a sale is to draw traffic; you make up for what you lose in margin by increasing the volume sold because of the cheaper price.

The technical term for this is economies of scale. If the managers of Menards were just going to look up the old sales price for everyone that wanted them to and sell at that price it would defeat the purpose of having a sale because it would cut into their profit margins. Second if you were to return something without a receipt you would not receive the last sale price. You would receive the lowest sales price minus any rebates that were offered at the time.

So if something was free after rebate and you don’t have a receipt, the price you would get back for you return is $0.00. This is to protect the company from scam artist who might try to purchase something on sale and return it at a higher price at a later time. That is why a receipt is given at the time of purchase; so you have proof of what product you bought and what price you paid for it and that’s why the big sign at the exit door reminds you to keep you receipt should a return be necessary. Sounds to me like "John the night manager college kid" (By the way he is not.

He is a college graduate and one of the General Managers at the store which is listed under his picture at the entrance door) was doing his job, enforcing corporate policies that are put in place to protect the business. John Sanders you are a dumb *** and you just made yourself look like a fool; not only with what you wrote (his story obviously doesn’t make sense because there are holes in this story that were tactfully left out to try to avoid making himself look like a complete dumb *** and "john" look like a bad guy) but with how you wrote it.

You also showed your intelligence by miss spelling every other word. Here is some advice: Next time you want to post something so idiotic on the internet don’t use your real name and tell where you are from.

I am perfectly happy that an *** like you would go to The Home Depot where you belong, good luck even finding someone to help you and finding what you need in their *** little selection! As a person in the retail business people like you who expect us to know what you need make me sick.

Maybe you should try to learn to communicate correctly and they could get your order right. Also a little patience and maybe a sincere attitude would help you.

I would be more willing to help someone who is nice to begin with than some *** with a *** attitude. In other words karma is a ***!

Hmmmmmm it would probably tell you they were 3ft boards instead of 8ft.

Or maybe the fact that you paid less than you should have would maybe throw you off a bit? Dumb ***.

Pretty sure this post is a joke. Effingham is a funny town name for one.

Second, Menards doesnt sell 3 ft boards, and even if they did who would confuse an 8 ft board for a 3 ft board. Third, what is the difference in a white board and unfinished board? Fourth, 9/27/09 is actually 2 days after 9/25/09 not one day as stated in the complaint. Fifth, He said he spoke with Breahnah at the service desk then asked the manager.

Once John said he couldnt look up sale price he said he would hang up and then hung up. So I guess even though he was speaking to John at the service counter he was speaking to him on the phone at the same time.

Sixth, who rents a truck for 6 8ft boards? So I am pretty sure this complaint was a joke.

God, I'm glad I don't live in Southern Illinois, just reading that guy's post made me cringe! Could ALMOST hear the "Dueling Banjo's" theme from Deliverence in the background as I read it!

Just because you are a guest, doesn't mean the people at the desk trying to help do not make mistakes but at the same time it is also there (our) job to read the picking tickets(orders) back off to you to insure that is what you needed. That should always be step one after a sales person does an order but not always is that followed as is the case for poor brent who is merely some young college kid.

Not only did you pay for the boards but instead of talking to the building materials department manager on duty at the time you talked to someone from the front end in which case sounds like you got a hold of Jon..not JOHN. Sorry to correct you. Not always is a customer right but in your case if what you explain is truly what happened then I am sorry the store has troubled you so much.

If you are still mad, If your problem has not been solved I would try to talk to the STORE GM chris. He should be more guest understandable as long as you tell your story as it is to be told and no white lies:D

Maybe if I could understand what you were typing I could help you. That's probably why your order got screwed up, you're an ***.

So you never once looked at your receipt or your invoice? You didn't notice the major price difference between a 3' board and a 8' board?

You probably thought you were pulling a fast one and getting an 8' board for a 3' price?? Learn to speak proper English and learn to look at your invoices and things like this wouldn't happen. You don't get something for nothing. Take a little personal responsibility for once in your life and look at your invoice and make sure you are getting what you pay for.

I'd bet anything you thought that Menards was undercharging you and you just didn't bother once to look at the invoice and see if that's what you wanted it what you paid for.

You are as much to blame as anybody. Grow up and take some responsiblilty.
