New ReviewerWhy not offer something worthwhile. Offer customers !)% off or an !!% rebate.
Let the customer choose. In many cases it costs more to submit for the rebate then the rebate is worth.
User's recommendation: Home Depot and Lowe's offers 10% off/.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
Menards Pros: I like shopping at menards.

I have never shopped at Menards but I have noticed that rebates in general are more hassle than they are worth. I saw a consumer news report on some tv program I have forgotten the name of, and they stated the company is counting on your losing your rebate/receipt information or just not bothering to send it in. That is sleazy.
According to staff at the local menards I shop at only 30% of the eligible "rebates" printed at the registers are ever redeemed for merchandise, essentially meaning the house wins 70% of the time. No wonder they have been running this "promotion" continuously for the past year and a half.
To top it off the hardware department manager told me they have been slowly but surely raising prices to offset the "rebate" amount. Vote with your wallet and take your business elsewhere.
This isn't true, over 95% of the value of the 11% is redeemed. Which means menards only "wins" on about 5% of the rebates
Tell that to the garage can just outside the exit door of menards full of receipts worth under $1.00 each. Or receipts left in pants pockets going through washer, or the ones "lost " in the mail. Much like a casino the odds are significantly in the advantage of the house which is why it's going on 1.5 years continuously.
The reason the continously are running it is 1. Most guest like it and it brings in guest.
2. With supply and shipping storages, it's hard for them to provide enough items on sale to run a normal Menards ad.
Unless lowes, walmart, home depot, and many other stores; In ad everything the advertise is on sale, not just an everyday price. So you actually save money.
Open your own store and offer what you wish. They have a business model and it obviously works.
It works until it doesn't. Menards built a loyal customer base by offering low prices.
If they weren't lower than the competition they would match their prices. In the past few years they have been raising their prices to cover the 11%rebate. The stores in my area have quit matching prices and their "rebates" take forever to get. I was one of those loyal customers.
No more.
Now I find the prices at Home Depot to be the same or better and I also find that their staff is friendlier and more willing to help than the Menards employees. To top it off Home Depot also offers the 11% rebate which get to you in half the time it takes Menards to send theirs.
