On 07/12/2014, Our 501c3 Charity went to Menards and bought a Deck KIT... A KIT is supposed to have all the parts you need in it to build something....

Am I not correct????? This KIT was missing the very first pieces in the instructions , the J bolts and brackets to attach the footings to the concrete. They sent 18 foot boards and put 16 foot on the bill of lading. They sent post caps and not the sleeves they go on top of.

They did not provide enough top and bottom railing to do the stair railings. No 1 bys to go on top of the railing as is instructed in the instructions.

It had no 8 inch carriage bolts for the main support as stated to use in the instructions, straight nails not deck nails. All of this caused me to go $1000 over budget...

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Monetary Loss: $1500.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska

They don sell "kits". You can plan a deck on their computer that will print out a list of materials based on the input you gave.

You were given a generic set of instructions for building a deck. You may or may not have a bottom rail depending on how the balusters are attached. On some decks yo may have a bottom rail running between the posts, on other decks the balusters may mount outside the deck on the facia board.

They may have run out or 16' boards and sent 18' as a substation rather than backordering 16' boards and sending nothing for you to work with. Either you or your contractor should have reviewed the materials on the estimate to assure they were what you needed for the way you were constructing the deck.

Checked their website, couldn't find any deck kits. They had a number of materials lists to build different sizes or styles of decks or you could use their design it program to design your own. No matter what you buy, it's a good idea to make sure it has everything you want before you buy it.

It's not *** rocket science. Go to Menards.com and enter: 14' x 14' deck kit and see what pulls up. I know, i know, your too lazy to do the work, so others have to for you.

***! Their online site as well as on store, states, THEY do sell kits.

In fact, they call them "complete deck kits".

Or are you unable to read numnutss. They committed fraud like every Republican owned business does ( Youngblood Nissan, Reliable Chevrolet, Bass Pro Shops ) and took his money for a "complete" kit and than failed to provide everything promised.
