Lack of mobility scooters at Elizibethtown Ky store

How many grocery stores or drug stores have you seen with scooters? It seems that if you can get around stores that sell the necessities in life you should be able to get around a store like Menards as well.

Having worked in a retail store it seems like providing these scooters could be quite the liability as well. People jumping on these scooters that they aren't familiar with can be dangerous.

They often zip up and down aisles without slowing at intersecting aisles and often run in tho racks and displays as well. You are better off getting your own scooter and becoming familiar with its operation rather than jumping on whatever a store might have to offer.

" You are better off getting your own scooter and becoming familiar with its operation rather than jumping on whatever a store might have to offer. " How do you expect a person with physical limitations to haul said scooter to store???

do you expect their insurance company to purchase a pick up truck to haul this scooter they only need at retail stores the size of texas. Also how you expect them to unload said scooter from their vehicle since store staffing has a strong reputation of being absolutely useless when they see a customer struggle with heavy merchandise. As stated menards has 1 or 2 motorized scooters that often are dead batteries or in use. Wal mart, home depot and other big box stores provide a dozen motorized scooters and help customers with physical disabilities, what's menards staff when they see a customer asking for assistance?

They bellow "thats not my job" and run off at the speed of light. customer service has failed at menards

Can't say that I've ever seen a store with a dozen scooters.

7 are in use by customers, 4 being recharged, and 1 being put aside for maintenance. Most big box stores are considerate to customers with physical limitations by providing ample motorized carts, and litteraly curbside assistance for people with limitations.

Whats menards do?

1 motorized scooter in use, 1 with dead battery, and for online pick up you need to pay a surcharge per item for an employee on company to preform the job they were hired to do, then drive though a lumberyard full or random nails, wood, and metal banding waiting to poke your car tires then you have to walk in the rear of the store and wait forever at an unattended desk until 2 employees again on company time finish their personal conversation............ unless your lucky enough to be greeted by an employee who's discreetly having a smoke by the door for the online order area.

As long as people repeatedly fix problems like this rather than returning the items for a refund or exchange they have little incentive to improve the quality of their products.

Gift card Fail

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Menards - Gift card Fail

I recently received a Gift card for $100 from my father in law. The gift card had a pin so I could use it for online shopping which was convenient because the nearest store was 35 miles away.

When I tried using the card online an error came up telling me the card was invalid. I double checked and I had the numbers right. I went online to see what was left on the card and it also came up as invalid. I brought it to the store in Mankato and with the card and receipt they treated me rudely and told me I had to take the card back where it was purchased, that being 150 miles away.

before I brought it back to Menards I emailed customer service twice with no response. I am very disappointed in Menards and if I ever purchase a gift card I will check to see if it got activated.

I understand mistakes happen but it should have been resolved at the customer service desk. I did call my Father in Law and it showed up on his debit card that he purchased the gift.

I have yet to receive my order #3710****, states it was delivered and NEVER received. All I want is my order and not all this unnecessary running around. You're quick to take my money and not assist a customer when help is needed. 7/12/22 Well after endless emails, they issued me a refund for my order, I'm satisfied with the end results, but should be an easier process for the future. Make sure if your order is ever stolen, make a police report, so you can get that refund.

I'm confused as to why you'd write a review about a dirty restroom with hand dryers that don't work, yet give them a glowing rating of 4 stars.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Judith M Eoi

Iโ€™m confused how a store can have a filthy and unkept restroom for the public when the store itself offers a huge assortment of toilets, sinks, paint, cleaning supplies, bathroom sink and countertops. They can even offer special order commercial grade hand dryers, but in their own restrooms have broken dryers and no paper towels. Last time I was in a menards restroom I was greeted by lewd artwork of 2 men โ€œ together โ€œ as well as racial slurs on the divider walls.

You can't get a duplicate rebate receipt but if you made your purchase with a debit or credit card you can just go to the kiosk by their return desk and look up your transactions and print a duplicate receipt there.

Rebates

The last three times I have mailed in my rebate forms with receipts to get my 11% rebate, I have received nothing. A lot of times I dont even bother to get the rebate form because I know I will never get anything. The three times I sent in, it would have been pretty close to $200 in rebates. This kind of thing is making me rethink where I shop. How come this keeps happening??

Absolute worst customer service experience ever. Bought a Milwaukee labeled (not real Milwaukee brand) folding 2-wheeler.

Broke after a few months. Was sent by the manufacturer to the store for replacement. Went to the store with my letter from the manufacture and wasted over an hour. Was told they had a replacement, went to the back of the store just to find out that they didn't, and no idea when they would have them.

Back to the counter a second time, waited over 15-minutes and then told to go back and find the next similar item and it would be exchanged.
Went back to the back of the store the second time with a manager, selected the next up model (only $20 more) and brought it back to the service counter for a third time. Another 5 minutes goes by and the replacement was then rung up along with a few small items I was going purchase. When I received the total I discovered that instead of swapping the items they up-charged me, instead of the swap they had promised. After questioning this for some time with the assistant manager I then asked to speak to the GM.

Mike.
Mike came to the desk, now approaching 45 minutes for a simple transaction, just to have Mike provide empty apologies and no constructive effort to provide support. Worst of all, Mike would not honor the promise made just minutes before and instead said that they would order the item for replacement (which the assistant manager originally said couldn't be done) and that I would have to return, yet again, to the store at some unknown point to get the exchange.
The worst part of this experience was that other than the manager who helped me select the replacement no one cared at all. I wasted over an hour without any real result, but worse yet, a promise was made and then broken (the replacement on the spot) and all the General Manager said he could do was say, "I'm sorry, I apologize." Well, in this case, Menards lost a long time and continuing customer.

No more, I will no longer shop at this specific store. In my opinion, they give the whole Menards brand a terrible name and will be telling friends, family, and anyone else to shop elsewhere.

Having read this and numerous other "pissed customer" comments, it certainly appears that Menards is having difficulty finding employees - at least short of management level. I have personally had no issues with staff at my Red Wing, Mn Menards.

That said, it also appears that the "pissed customers" here are (for the most part) not to bright and/or having attitude issues of their own. There must be a better (less crude) term for unhappy customers - maybe "unhappy customers"?

Nick T Xsz
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2211820

Don't be so quick to judge others. Speaking if "bright," you misspelled the word too (you spelled it to, that's the wrong word) and your grammar is incorrect (your missing the word "are"), so perhaps you shouldn't cast any stones without looking in the mirror first. Just a suggestion.

Nick T Xsz

And I just realized I made a mistake as well. The post should have said "Speaking of," rather than "Speaking if."

Nick T Xsz

To PissedConsumer221****, you've provided a very judgmental post about people you have never met and know absolutely nothing about, related to circumstances that you have no knowledge of. That and the fact that you are also on the site you condem and your having taken the affirmative additional step of posting a comment speaks volumes.

Guest

They were giving you credit for what you paid for. Why wouldn't you expect to pay The difference if you chose a better, more expensive model? If you had chosen a model that was less expensive would you have expected an even swap or would you have wanted the difference in price?

Nick T Xsz
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2194009

I would have been fine with a direct swap, even if I had to wait due to back order. The fact is they initially refused to back order the replacement.

They also wasted an hour of my time by offering to replace it with the model that cost $20 more just to repudiate their promise later. Throughout the whole process there was a lack of any customer care and empty apologies are worthless. After reading other posts on this site I'm now sure I won't shop at this store, and will encourage others not to as well, as I see a pattern of behavior here, and the store's GM Mike's name come up several times in the same context.

It's not surprising the store's employees have the same low level of service, leadership starts at the top. Here, it's a matter of leadership having a lack of customer service skills that leads to an overall poor customer experience.

The real irony is the item says Milwaukee, but made in China. Unfortunately like many companies that have been located with the United States for decades, they moved production overseas leaving massive buildings vacant and hundreds of local employees out a job.

Also have significantly decreased the quality of the product. Itโ€™s a shame whatโ€™s happened to the USA.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Nick T Xsz

Big box stores aren't exactly known for great customer service. If service is what you are looking for you should be shopping at a full service hardware store like ACE. Just expect to pay a little more in a store offering great service.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2194009

The customer didnโ€™t โ€œchooseโ€ to buy a more expensive model, it was the only option he had. Menards had him literally backed into a corner of take or leave it.

Nick T Xsz
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2194009

I expected an even exchange or refund for this defective product that broke within a few months of use, nothing more. The larger issue was how it was handled by local store management - ultimately it was resolved by senior management.

It is/was impossible to actually talk to a human being. The one and only phone number listed to speak with anyone at Menards wasn't able to speak about anything other than credit card issues. I had ordered from Menards in the past and it was great. This time it was horrible and I had to place my order with another vendor. Sometimes people like to communicate with people not machines. The website was of no use and as there were no automated prompts that applied to what my issue was. This was in no way "Customer Service".

You are only supposed to send in the rebate receipt that is at the bottom of your receipt for the rebate leaving you with a receipt to use for proof of purchase. If you used a credit or debit card to make the purchase just go into a store and you will find a kiosk near the return counter where you can print a duplicate receipt. If you paid with another form of payment you are out of luck.

Special Order

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Ordered items that were special order. Waited more than 10 days to receive the items.

Received an email stating items received in full ready for pickup. When I went to pick items up, only 1 of the 4 items were in the store. They could not tell me what happened, they just kept blaming the vendor for the mistake. I was also questioned by management if I ordered all 4 items.

4 items was the same product just 4 of them. After I had left the store I received an email stating 3 more items were ordered to fulfill my order, with a wait for 10 more days before I would receive them.

The manager I talked to was blaming everyone but her store. I will think twice before I order anything special order again

Menards loves to point the finger to anyone but their staff. A customer was killed by an improperly placed pallet of floor tiles that fell 12 feet in a aisle open to the public and menards defense is to blame the manufacturer of the reused pallet rather then the employee who failed to place bit securely on the high rack with forklift.
