I had paint color matched for exterior of home.

The paint was entirely a different shade. Store employee said it would dry different color.

I touched up spots on exterior.

Waited for drying time. HORRIBLE!

I went to Aberdeen SD Menards( where paint purchased). Loren in paint department was kind. He tried matching 5 times.

Still not a natch. I went to front end manager then assistant manager Joe. I had him come outside in natural lighting to see all the different colors on my actual cement from home.

Joe gave me every excuse, is material that made different color, is different paint, was what machine saw, on and on.

Loren said the paint would still not cover correctly over the super dark first paint that was " color matched".

I asked assistant manager for paint of all one color to repInt the one side of my home. He said no.

He would give one gallon...no more. (I WAS ALSO TOLD THE FINAL TRY OF MATCHING PAINT WAS A MORE EXPENSIVE PAINT THAN WHAT I BOUGHT...WANTED THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE!!!!).

I LIVE 120 MILES ONE WAY from Menards. I have drove 480 round ( 2 trips) over this gallon of paint!

I am requesting not just the closest color possible for one side of my home but now am requesting paint for entire structure!

Once you see the photos od Menards color match, you will see why! You would not accet such on your home!

I will not either.

Again, 480 miles and 2 trips and still have a spotted house!

Please advise where I can upload photos.

I told assistant manager i wanted corporate complaint number . He said do it on line and upload photos.

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Even if you had multiple gallons mixed at the same time they may not be a perfect match. If you have ever bothered to read the directions on a can of paint you will find that it says to intermix containers of the same product to assure color and sheen uniformity.

The tint bases may vary slightly, the tint coming out of the dispenser may come out in a slightly different amount (fractions of an ounce can make a difference) and other factors. If multiple cans mixed at the same time can vary the chances of even a paint color matched to a sample may not be a perfect match good enough for a touch up. If you don't have paint left over for touch ups it isn't unreasonable to expect to repaint an entire wall for uniformity. New paint may have a different sheen than a weathered paint making it appear that the colors are different as well.

They owe you nothing, sounds like they have gone above and beyond re-mixing paint multiple times. Your expectations are a bit unreasonable.

How many stores that sold paint did you drive past on your 120 miles 1 way journey to menards???? Iโ€™m sure there were literally dozens if stores you passed up probably including a store within 5 miles of your house. Unless you live in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean or in outer space thereโ€™s no reason to travel so far when big box stores, hardware stores and independent paint stores can assist you.
