Bought a 10ft 2x12 at menards. Was told where to drive to pick it up.

Drove back there and handed the worked my slip, he directed me where to pull to and motioned for me to back up. I backed up and before I could get out of the car to move the dvd player he had opened my back hatch and folded the seat down. He had a tough time getting the seat to fold down because my kids dvd player in our van was in the seat he was folding down and he pinched it between the metal bars on the seat and cracked the screen. I did not notice it broke until I picked my kids up at school and one of them asked me what happened to the dvd player as it would not work and looking at it closer I noticed the screen had been cracked when the worker/loader at menards folded the seat down.

Called menards and came in to file a report, they handed me insurance card and walked away from it. Only response I get from Menards is to call insurance. Called the insurance and said that if there is not visible proof on camera then it will be denied. The dvd player was inside my car.

If the worker would have waited for me to get out of car I could have moved it. seeking $150 for replacement.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $150.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Menards Pros: Selection.

Menards Cons: Customer service if you have a bad experience, Resolution, Attempts to make it right, No attempt to make it right, Management customer service.

Either people complain that the employee don't help load or when they do, they damage the vehicle. You knew you were going to the store to buy a 12' board.

Why didn't you have your seats folded and ready for loading?

Be thankful you had someone there to assist you. You shouldn't have expected them to stand around while you played with the seats in your car.

The employee should have waited till the customer positioned the seats. Would you like anyone just moving things in your vehicle? Also, how could the employee know what the customer was after, they would have had to look at the form to be sure they were loading the correct item.

The employee was given the form before the seats were moved. They had also more than likely pulled the board as well. Of course I would rather move my own seats, but I would have done that before I left home rather than expecting someone loading my materials to stand around and wait.

poor service from management to handle your issues

not worth the headache to save a few dollars. I would demand dvd player fixed/replaced and stop shopping there. Too bad for them, poor service and you lose customers.
