Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with settlement agreement. Capital one was asked to contest the policy due to my wife’s sudden illness. Menards apparently eventually concurred..

My wife has Leukemia. I have heart failure.

Income is cut in half. We barely meet insurance and living expenses.
These became a high financial problem when I went home to find Lynn has contacted Leukemia. I immediately notified Menards Dubuque and asked for cancellation of these cards$6,000 worth.
Despite the medical necessity, Menards policy ignores such unimportant things. The company is enjoying our money that is desperately needed for medical expenses.

The bully, unsympathetic confiscation of funds tops 25 years of issues with Menards. I am sick about the situation, but big corporations seldom concern themselves with alternate needs of customers.
Now I must go to Facebook to possibly find a third party buyer. It is a long shot, but desperation requires it. My wife is not out of danger, her life may well end.

Think any Menards people have such problems?

You described menard’s actions as “unsympathetic confiscation of funds”. I’m wondering why you would characterize you buying $6000 in gift cards as such.

That’s an awful lot of money to convert to gift cards rather than just leave the cash in the bank and buy things as you need. Best wishes to you both.

Someone obviously gave you the gift cards to use on your home. You will be hard pressed to find any store that is going to give you cash for gift cards.

Find someone who does home remodeling, painting, landscaping and offer to sell it the gift card for 90% of its value. Many online websites offer to buy gift cards for low ball 60% but just so they can immediately resell it. Find someone trustworthy who know personally who buys in bulk at menards and they will buy your $6000 card for $5400 cash or bank check.

Very poor service

I wish there is a zero star for this rating. Very bad service.

People in the store bring you incorrect items, which you get stuck with. I bought a bathtub and wall set the other day. The employee brought me the wrong items and wrong size, different from the displayed ones I asked for. This cost me a lot renting a truck to return the bulky wall set to the store.

Further, we noticed that the bathtub is not the right model I chose after it has been installed. You typically don't expect that the employee is careless that he brings you a different item. When I contacted customer service complaining about this poor service, they told me it's my responsibility to check the items at the store and make sure they are the correct ones you asked for. Instead of taking the responsibility, they asked me next time to stand in the middle of the store opening the huge bathtub and wall set boxes and getting items out of the boxes piece by piece to make sure that the careless employee got me the right stuff I asked for.

That is it.

NO MORE MENARDS. Competitive stores have much better customer service from my previous experience and BTW they also give you 11% rebate if you ask for it.NO MenardsN

Missy the day manager is by far the least professional i have ever dealt with, ended the conversation with good i hope you dont shop here again, while pointing at a small print exchange discrepancy i had questions about, then she started her condescending laugh as i walked away. Two other customers stated that wasn't called for at her. Standing by their own merchandise and helping customers out, i guess she didn't see the large print from Menards cooperate banners all over the store. Stay away

I don't receive my rebate money yet

I believe my rebates were stolen. I understand they were mailed out on sept 24th. Inwas in vacation and stopped my mail I picked it up on Oct 4th. There were no rebates. I had a couple of rebates with a total of about 37$

If you haven't received their rebates before they come in a tightly folded post card that looks like junk mail advertising that are easily tossed out with the trash if you don't look at them closely.

Delivered me the wrong item. Online order

After the wrong item arrived I contacted their online customer assistance. It was several days before I got a response.

I had to send pics of the wrongly delivered item and said I wanted a full refund including the shipping cost as this wasnt my mistake. I didnt want a reship because I went to a different Menards and picked up the item. They expected me to bring the item to the store. I said I would not because I expected it to be picked up as I had paid for delivery in the first place.

It also was heavy. They sent a return label and I had it picked up. The online rep never told me I would be charged. Now, they not only didnt refund my original shipping cost I have been charged for the pickup even more than the original shipping cost.

Its nearly impossible to even call the store for customer assistance. This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced!

Broken vanity bulb

I i went to the contractor desk talked to a guy ready to spend around $5000 to start he starts looking up what i wanted lost as a fish in the desert answers the phone and walks off. I'm rebuilding from a tornado and sorry my time is not worth it I spend $5000 or more a week money just shuffled to home depot where people are answered to so my total order was $8798 at ABC supply and I still need 400 pieces your loss i know I won't get a response but bulk pricing and a yep not happening from a manager named Kyle said cant help you lol I'm building a new home for someone else and won't spend a dime there local vendors because service and pricing else and we won't spend a dime there

Bad product from their subsidiary

Purchased a complete lumber package which included trusses for our house. After the installation of the trusses we found the gusset plates were installed incorrectly or missing in locations. They gave us engineered repairs but wouldn't reimburse us for the labor cost.

Typical Menards response. You can often by trusses from a local truss supplier at a comparable price with much faster delivery. If you have a problem with a truss from a local supplier the truss is often replaced within a day or two.

Menards from Bridgeview il 09.01.21 around 5 pm Ashely who is a manager ( I dont know how she is in that position with this attitude ). She call me ignorant and you shut up right st the customer service returns .

UNACCEPTABLE. She is NOT for a job as manager. PLUS I asked her if is somebody above her position that time in the store and she yelled me and she lied to me and said NO Im the manager.

That time the general manager assistant was in the store. UNACCEPTABLE !!!!

Anti bullying restrictions do not apply to menards staff. They love to name call, insult, or just walk away from a customer who is fustrated, needs advice on a project, or just need assistance putting a heavy item in a cart.

They love phases such as "I'm the boss" " your a thief" or "that's not my job" however they fail to understand the very customers they make fun of and insult are the very people who provide them with a paycheck, hours, and allowed them to maintain employment from day 1 of the pandemic.

Anyone else would be grateful and appreciative, but again menards staff love dropping 4 letter words at a customer holding a masterforce saw that lasted 3 cuts before burning out accusing him of "rent and return". Take your business elsewhere.

I don't receive my rebate money yet

I know the rebates were mailed. I checked. However, I was away and had my mail held at the post office. I know the rebates were mailed out sept 24th. I didn't return from my trip until Oct 2nd. I never received the rebates in my collected mail when l picked up my mail the 4th of Oct.

Bought a mower, worked 10 minutes then broke.. return/exchange is not an option since the item was open and used!

Now they want me to drive to a service center an hour away for repair! That shouldnt be my responsibility!

Unreal please dont buy from them again! They dont stand behind their products!

Earlier this year I was in the same situation where the lawnmower failed on its maiden voyage. I fill it up with gas to use, the engine refuses to start after 8 pulls, so I go back to look at the manual and 2 minutes gas starts leaking from the filter area, I clean the mess, and after 3 more pulls the @#@#@ rope refuses to retract.

I call menards and they tell me to go some place 120 miles away 1 way and they refuse to help me otherwise. I call the repair store and they tell me its 3 weeks repair time and need $50 deposit regardless of when I purchased the item. Feeling backed in the corner I call my credit card company to dispute the lawn mower purchase. After explaining the situation they sent me a form which I was instructed to have the menards return clerk sign stating they have possession of the mower.

I took the mower back to menards and started getting all types of finger pointing and complaining from the staff, I said all I need is someone to sign this form and you keep the mower. The one clerk regrettably signed the form starting the store has the mower.

I faxed the form to my credit card company and they issued the reimbursement by withholding the original transaction to menards. Instead of buying a new mower a neighbor of mine sold me their old one for $50.00 and has worked great all season long.

It's intelligent and savvy consumers like yourself that are going to put these big box bullies out of business. They depend on clueless, uninformed consumers, that they can walk over all day.

Aggressive consumers who don't back down are their worst nightmare.

Their only go is to lowball companies to buy in bulk and resell to the public at higher prices. They want nothing to do with a defective item.

Did you throw it away? It comes as a tightly folded postcard that looks like junk mail advertising. If you don't look closely you won't notice it is a folded card and toss it in the trash.
