New Gas tiller

I bought a new gas tiller. I put gas in it and pulled the cord to start and the motor didn't move. Something in the cord. I brought it back to the store 1 hour after I took it out of the box and never did run. They told me to bring it to a repair shop and would do nothing for me. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Lowes and Home Depot have never treated me like this. All I asked for is an exact replacement of what I just purchaced. This was horrible. You screwed up by not calling corporate right away.

Guest

Our local Home Depot will most definitely refund or exchange, which ever the customer prefers, regardless of gas issue. They have tool rental and repair that drains the fuel and assesses the issue after they have satisfied the customer. We shop Home Depot because they always put the customer first.

Guest

When you buy a product that you put gas in at any retail store AFTER you put gas in it the manufacturers warranty is in effect. If it won't start(mostly because of human error) or breaks it goes to the repair shop NOT the retail store.

If you want full red carpet service go pay twice to four times as much for a new one at a full service center dealer and then if it breaks or wont start, they wont just fork over a new one either. They will take up to 24hrs to decide whether to fix or replace and if they decide to fix it they can take up to 7 days before you really have any case.

Please, if you pay $600 for a push mover at a dealer, it breaks, and they keep it for 5 days to fix it. Please complain on here so I can LMFAO at you.

Guest

Heartless, you need to get your facts straight. The gas issue is only a Menards thing. Hd and Lowes would have taken it back.

Guest

I just purchased a mower today. Same thing, but mine ran for 5 min.

Now it's locked up. I followed their instructions. Put gas and oil in. The manager said there was nothing they could do to fix my issues.

Now I get to wait a week to use my new purchase!

I am so pumped and can't wait to go back to Menards. But hey, I did save big money, or did I?

Guest

obviously someone above works for Mennards. I work for a Wireless complany and If we treated our customers this way we would not have any customers left.

Oh I'm sorry you put your battery on your phone so we cant exchange or replace it you will have to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. How well do you think that would be received?

Guest

Not to mention that there's no mention of adding oil to the tiller.....another customer service issue I'm sure.....

Guest

it's labeled all over the place by the gas pushed equipment that Menards do not take returns on those items once gas is put into them. It then proceeds to say it must go to a repair shop.

If you did nothing to create the problem the warranty would cover it. It also says on your receipt the same policy. Home depot and Lowes also has the same exact policy.

It was not a customer service issue.

It was a self entitled customer issue. You should educate yourself more on the return polices before your make such a large purchase.

Home Depot and Lowes are VERY good at making it right. Menards is sort of a second class citizen in this regard.

To my dismay when shopping in Traverse City, Mi. Minards now does not give discounts to the military.I could not believe when the cashier told me that the discounts were gone.

We serve our country and get no respect, we can give our lives but you cannot appreciate and show your support by giving a discount especially in these hard times. Shame on you!!! Our boys come home in bad shape physically and mentally for all of us and you show no compassion.

I am really appalled at your behavior. Money should not be everything.Thank you your X customer.

Guest

just because you didn't get a discount doesn't mean disrespect. i thank everyone who inquires about the discount or comes in wearing their uniform or something distinguishing themselves. if you don't get a thank you then THAT'S disrespect.

Guest

Served my country with pride. I did it for my country and freedom!!

You are such a doushe bag.

Sacrifice is not expecting anything and I mean anything in return.... Shame on you....

Guest

Hmm

Military discount?

We all should be deserving if a discount, but in order for a business to make money they must make a profit. A business is NOT required to give a military discount they give it because they want too.

Who are you to say shame on you?

You need to look In the mirror more often and judge yourselves, as god should and will be the only one to place judgement.

My father was a lifer in the military and I was in also.

Military gets combat pay in war. Free dental, medical and some places give extra discounts,

Be thankful for what you have, some have none!!

You should be ashamed for your comments!!!

Guest

You're not entitled to a discount because you joined the military. Everyone works hard, everyone dies.

You're not special that was your career choice. No one asked you to do it. You're not special for making it your career choice.

You're not better than anyone else. If anything you're worst, you're the core problem with America today.

Guest

It is very simple. Military wants a discount so do police and fireman and city workers and EMTs and well you get the point.

Bottom line either we give it to one or to none.

And does shell or bp give you a discount on gas, do you go in to church and at offering say "I am military so I kept 10%" When you get a ticket do you ask the judge for a discount? We are a retail store not a goodwill.

Guest

I was unaware you joined the military to save $.19 on a 2x4

Guest

Hard times? You're probably making more in the military than I am serving your looking-for-handouts-self at Menards!

Resolved: Rapid Lock Flooring

We bought $2000 worth of this snap lock flooring from menards. Store sold it with a ten year warranty.

Floor was installed by me. Who has installed miles of flooring. The floor starting bucking from my wifes feet bieng wet from the shower. She messes around after the shower in the bathroom for a good ten minutes before walkng on the floor.

Holy crap its buckeling down the hallway to from my daughters feet. Its been installed for less than 3 months. Menards says they have no responsibilities and to get a hold of the manufacture. We did, it took them 2 months and 4 calls later to come out.

Sent some inspector who acts like you will be getting your money back. A month later you get the report. The report says the installer should not of installed it due to the fact there are imperfections in the flooring purchased. Now there is a new design out with waxed coded tongue and groove.

Its for better water proofing. So we got screwed out of a whole house of flooring. Dont buy there crap.

We installed a large living room, office and two 32 ft. long hallways with Rapid Lock Cambria Oak in 2019.

It is lovely and was a breeze for my husband and son-in-law, each of whom have a lot of experience in home repairs and building. We are happy with our purchase/the product.

Guest

We have completed a full basement remodel and used the "rapid loc" bamboo, beautiful for about a month, now it is separating in the kitchenette area. We have Stove,Refrig,Base cabinets with Quarts top and an Island also with Quarts top.

the flooring is floating, met all install instructions...Now I'm told the Island can not be anchored. (this tidbit is NOT mentioned in any installation instructions) Yep- not warranteed....Real Happy with ****-loc.

Guest

Just so we are clear for the last time. It has been redesigned by the manuf.

I did not install on bathroom but did in the kitchen. It has 0 water protection.

A ice cube will leave a bubble. Bell im afraid to wash it.

Constantine Yjh

This is a truly horrible product. I installed throughout my house -- of course not in a bath -- and it will not withstand even a drop of water.

I feel like I through $2,000 to the wind. I beat myself up every time I see it.

Guest

People must not have a brain. It never was installed in a bathroom.

Yes hallways from bathroom to living room. Living to kitchen kitchen to bedrooms.

There are lots of snaplock brand floorings out there. I guess my main problem is Menard's doesn't warranty an product they sell.

You are 100% correct in stating that Menards doesn't warranty a product they sell. The retail store you buy a product in does not warranty the product.

The warranty is the responsibility of the manufacturer. Your complaint should be with the manufacturer of the flooring, not the store you bought it at.

I did contact the manfuacture. Menard's states they ate not responsible for any product they sell.

As I said below this flooring is absolutely horrible for everyday use in a real persons home. It doesn't hold up to traffic at all! It scratches easy, shows wear marks from minute 1, and looks good only until walked on with boots, heals, pet claws, or rocks in your shoes...NONE OF WHICH IS COVERED BY THEIR WARRANTY!...*** *** *** product.

what are you talikng about. who would install wood floor in the bathroom.

Are ou a bot becouse I done already said. Its int eh kitchen living room bedrooms hallways closets. No where did I say bathroom. By the way I have some different flooring in my rental.

Its been there for 5 years. I instalkled it before the *** rock, wiring, paint, cabinets, countertops, paint etc. Its still looks good. Only reason i installed before all that work was becouse i was living in it and the floor looked horrile so i covered it up.

I never had a problem with that other brand. My renter called the pther day the dish washer flooded the kitchen guess what not one buckle. Your brand you are trying to stand up for was not designed right. Menards did nothing for us.

They said they are not responsible.

And the manufacture said they are improving there products everyday. Mean while my floor is getting scratches daily and warps when I sneeze.

Menards employee stated he needed to "take a ***

Last week I was at a menards store with my grandson in need of supplies for a project we were working on fixing up the house. As I was looking for assistance I asked several employees walking by for help but they stated they were from other departments and walked away like I was nothing.

I was informed there was only one man within the department I needed based on only his name on the tv screen. A few minutes later the man appeard out of no where. I asked why the store was understaffed and he said it was the managers decision to reduce staffing dispite the size of the store. I then asked what happend him being missing.

He proudly stated he had to " take a *** " with my 7 year old grandson next to me. I firmly stated " i beg your pardon sir" and he says what did you need assistance with. I told him I no longer desired his help and will go elsewhere. I then asked another employee to speak to the store manager and was escorted to the building materials area and speak to the "general manager" I explained what happend and he gave a blank stare as if his hearing aid was turned off and didnt understand me.

I am withholding the store location, department location, and employee name at this time due to futher attempted contact reguarding the situation. there is no need for offensive language, announce you had a bowel movement, or a manager who chooses ignore a customer concern

Check out the Heartless from Green Bay response. He is an example why Menard's sucks.

No thank you received.

Today my husband went back to the Menards in International Falls to inform the store that they had not charged him for some bird feed. The cost for the item was $8.54. The clerk at the return desk did not even thank him for returning to the store to pay for the item. In fact she said they were sorry they didn't charge him in the beginning. A simple thank you for coming to pay for the item was all that was necessary. The store would have been out that amount if my husband hadn't returned to the store. If he had walked out of the store and been stopped, might have been arrested.

Thank you to you and your husband for your honesty.

Not everyone is as well-spoken and on top of their game at all times, and deserve a little slack. I'm sure she meant well, but may not be a master of knowing the exact right thing to say at the exact right time.

Deal with the faults of others as gently as with your own.

Guest

In your own post you acknowledged that they apologized and said they were sorry they had missed it the first time.

Guest

They dont owe you a thank you. If he didnt come back in to pay for it then he would be a theif.

Guest

No one owes anyone a thank you. This is silly self entitlement logic working at it's finest.

Guest

Ma'am

On behalf of our whole staff and president the great John Menard thank you for catching your husband in the act of theft and teaching him a lesson he should of learned at a kid. stealing is wrong, effects everyone and most of all effect payroll of my department and my bonuses. You must realize your husbands criminal act is not a one time occurance. Watch your purse, check book, personal items, credit cards and everything else with great care. He will strike again, possibly even against you or your family. Mr 5 finger discount may even take from your elderly parents. He is a theif and should of been charged. Also as far as im concerned as a menards team member the birds who eat the stolen food are just as guilty as your husband. Next time keep a closer eye on your dishonest partner

thank you

Sell used products as New

I bought a Canopy from Menards that turned out to have been previously used. I brought it back to them and was treated as though I did soemthing wrong.

After long arguments with store personel, One of the Store managers said "it happens what do you want me to DO about it" THey offered me $30.00 price adjustment to offset them breaking the law, my time and hassle. Do not trust them!

They will not take care of problems that could have been prevented. I complained to the corporate office and have not recieved any better service from them.

Guest

Tengbrecht clearly does not understand the process. Why on earth would we open something up to just open it up?

It's a waste of time and money. Unless we have a reason to open a package it will never happen. You couldn't tell, Menards couldn't tell, the person who is at fault is the person who returned it and LIED.

Hunt them down if it's that big of a deal to you. I really hope some day the situation is reversed so you can see how the process is in a retail store when it comes to items and returns.

Guest

actually you are ***

Still have it

still use it

never opened the box to look if it was used (while in the store).

sounds like you are a ***

Guest

As everyone else asked; if it was so easy to see it was used why the heck did you buy it?! Sound like you're a retail opportunist; you buy something and use it for a season and then the next year you go back and buy the same item to replace the old and worn one and then return the old one using the new receipt.

We're not ***, I know what you're doing, and it's pathetic!

Guest

As Murdered out has pointed out. If it was so easy to tell how damaged it was... Then exactly why did you buy it? It's pretty obvious you didn't notice any problems until you got it home. Just like a cashier wouldn't notice any issues if it was returned in it's original packaging and the person returning it said it was fine! It would be an absolute waste of time to open something up to find out it was totally fine to have to repackage it. You clearly have never tried to repackage something before.

Another problem when opening items up the packaging can get damaged and then people will refuse to buy it saying it was used. We get people in all the time who want us to open something up to look at it and we do, but guess what it NEVER GOES BACK IN THE WAY IT CAME OUT. It almost always looks like it was a returned item. No one in their right mind is going to go threw that hassle when the person returning the item insisted it was fine.

It's becoming even more clear you have no idea how chaotic the return desk can be. Often there is only 1 person dealing with a line of people. There is not enough time in the day to do a full examination of an item in 30 seconds or less.

The best part about your silly argument is the fact Menards even offered you a $30 discount once the problem was discovered. You took it as them trying to get around the law, but what they were doing was trying to HELP YOU OUT! They didn't have to offer you anything.

Guest

So...let me understand this. "It was not in good condition...it does not take a 10 point inspection to see that this was clearly used and not in good repair."

How did you manage to get this into your cart, through the register and loaded into your vehicle without noticing this was "clearly used and not in good repair?" Sounds to me like you are quick to point blame at a young cashier with no knowledge of this item, when you clearly are no better. Thanks for playing, though.

Guest

To Menards: A cashier at the service counter, there is a great move! My favorite part - It is a hassle for you to prevent a hassle for the customer - WOW and Im the one that doesnt understand. Please keep proving my point for me - Thanks!

Guest

You still don't understand..... THE GUEST RETURNED THE ITEM! THE CASHIER GOES WHY ARE YOU RETURNING IT? THE GUEST GOES BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE IT! THE CASHIER GOES IS IT USED? THE GUEST GOES NO IT'S NOT USED(fear of them saying no we won't take it back.)THE CASHIER LOOKS AT THE ITEM IN IT'S BOX LOOKS FINE. It hits the return cart and goes back on the shelf.

I would also like to add the cashier has the least product knowledge in the store so if it passes what they know then it ends up back on the shelf. There is NO LAW STATING EVERY ITEM MUST BE FULLY INSPECTED before putting back on the shelf. Also it's a hassle to take stuff like that out of it's packaging so most the time it just gets a quick glance at by our least experienced employee.

WHAT HAPPENED WAS AN ACCIDENT! IT WAS NOT INTENTIONAL. The real person you should be mad at is the person who returned the item and lied!

Guest

Response: No it was not in good condition as well as parts missing. It does not take a 10 point inspection to see that this was clearly used and not in good repair.

Menards comment: Yes it is against the law to sell used merchandice as new without notifying the consumer.

Thank you for proving the point of you dont care about your customers experiences! I love the "if you dont look at it, it must be ok statement"

Guest

How were you planning on using it? I'm sure it was in good condition and I believe these are used outside in the elements where I would think you would use it. Oh man your canopy was rained on.....its worthless now, better go get a new one...keep that economy moving :)

Guest

Returns people can not do a 10 point inspection on every returned item, the best they can do is ask if the item is damaged or used. If the customer says it's fine, on the shelf it goes.

I personally think that customers believe that if they tell them that they used it and just don;t like it, that they will not refund the item. This is how this stuff occurs, I believe.

I worked for a little over a year at the North Kansas City Menards and Kevin Harrision is definitely the worst boss ever. He lied to me about my hours and he would harass some of the younger female employees by pushing his body against theirs when walking thru the aisle, maybe a joke to him but some felt sexually harassed but afraid to report it because of how he would react.

In some ways Kevin was fair and I have even seen him go out of his way to help a co worker.

But on the other hand he is arrogant and has horrible customer service skills and will take advantage of workers if given the chance. If you want a decent job then I guess Menards is ok but you would probably not like working at the North Kansas City store as long as Kevin is there.

Guest

Right on!

Guest

Overall, John Menard, Gaylen....they're incredibly ruthless and don't care about anything other than the dollar. They don't care about how many hours you work, about being open longer on holidays, nothing but the dollar.

However, I worked in 9 stores in my time there. Some of the GMs were very cool and treated you really well. Some were just awful. The stores morale is very dependent on the GM more than John Menard.

Kevin Harrison (st josephs, MO) and Michael Ruthig (Indy South) are just absolutely terrible. But there are a lot of really good ones too, and I liked going to work for those GMs a ton.

As a customer, I spoke with him (Kevin Harrison) in reference to the horrible home delivery service I received and how poorly illustrated it was. Not only did he not take any ownership for his store but you can detect a major superior attitude over the phone.

He clearly demonstrated how customer satifaction does NOT work.

His comment was โ€œWhat do you want me to do about it, you finally got your productโ€ if this is how he treats customers I canโ€™t image what he does to his employees. Guy is clearly narcissistic.

Guest

Couldn't disagree with you more!!!! After a little over 4 years, Menards is one of the best companies I've ever worked for.

Do your job and you are treated very well - don't and you are not. This is as it should be, I wish more companies, and society in general, had the accountability and fairness that Menards does.

My letter to Menard's Re: misleading rebates

I bought six sling back chairs and saw there was a rebate of $10.00 per chair and there was no disclaimer on the display of re: maximum rebate would be on 4 chairs only. I purchased these chairs on different days and mailed in another rebate certificate for 2 add'l chairs.

When I recv'd only the $40 rebate for 4 chairs I went on-line to track the rebate. When I couldn't find it on line I looked for a phone number. It was only then that I read the very, very small print and found it would only be paid on the first 4 chairs.

I have been a customer of yours since the store opened up, purchasing thousands of dollars over the years. However, I will now take my business to Lowe's or Home Depot which are equally as convenient for me simply because of your deceptive advertising. I am sure that legally that rebate limit should have been on the display sign and it was not. Please tell me that it was not a ploy to get consumers to purchase add'l chairs only to find much to late, as I did, of the limit.

YOU HAVE LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER....I HAD A SIMILAR EVENT WITH COMCAST AND AS THEY WILL ATTEST I TELL EVERYONE I CAN OF THEIR DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. One customer may not affect you, but you will eventually ruin your business and people will never return to you....Times must not be hard enough, and you much have so much money, that you no longer have to worry about each individual customer and what it takes to earn their trust and keep their business....YOU LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone wants to pass the blame. Admit its your fault.

It was in the ad, on the sign, and on the rebate. Try learning how to read. Ur lucky they offered you a rebate. That's what's wrong with you people.

The world doesn't owe you a favor. Good day.

Guest

This is probably news to you, but all Menards rebate's have LIMITS on them on how much you can purchase. They are always labeled. You failed to read, your fault not Menards.

Guest

So you blame people because you failed to educate yourself about the terms of the rebate (which if not listed on the sign, is clearly listed on the rebate form itself)? Unfortunately this is pretty typical of people these days, "Well, it couldn't possibly be my fault!

It must be you and your deception!

How could I ever make a mistake? Shame on you for having rules I didn't follow!" Cheeri-O!

Menards receipts

I am complaining about all these p people complaining about menards and no receipts, there are kiosks at front of the store to look up and print out ANY RECEIPT YOU HAVE EVER HAD. If you pay cash, then you may have a problem, but you can insert any debit card, credit card, or menards big card and it wil generate any sale you have made on any card you insert, going back a couple years.

Unless you r trying to return a shoplifted item, u can find your legal receipt. Sterling illinois menards,we love you, customer service department goes out of it s way.

My problem is I ordered on line and they did not email me a receipt. I need a receipt to get the 11% rebate. They have not shipped the item and I do not want to drive 100 miles to attempt to get a receipt at some kiosk.

I think Menards is trying to screw me.

Guest

Policy states, you the guest will be given the lowest selling price in the past 90 days. This includes sales, coupons, discounts, when you argue with the cashier because an item was miss-placed.

The reason you get the lowest sale price is because of theft and that we don't know how much you spent on said item. I recommend that you charge .10 cents on a card every shopping experience. Let the cashier know first. If they say they cant tell them to press the Number 3 on the payment type screen if you are using VISA/MC or 4 for Discover then after the card processes type in .10 hit enter. then they press 1 for the cash option and enter the amount you give them. Menards credit processing company only charges a percentage of the sale not a swipe fee as well. A common thing we get is people who go in the store bring up an item they never bought and try to return it. We will only accuse you if we have proof you are up to no good. As far as a manager looking up a cash transaction on system V. Its extremely hard and quite imposable since it will list thousands of transactions. They have no option to limit down the transactions, which are not in order and go back 10 years. The Receipt Kiosk has cost Menards lots of money in programing and the computer systems involved. Its there for you to use, cash is untraceable. One option menards is thinking about doing is offering a membership type of card that will log all transactions and the rebates will go straight to but most consumers who were beta testers did not like it.

Menards Minot n.d store

I live 240 miles from this store. I called to order from building materials, place my order there.

Transfered me to mill works and placed my order. Sales man said i have both orders, ill email them to you and you confirm it and send it back and ill run your ccd and place order. 3 weeks and it will all be in. So he emails it.

its correct. I called him and give him my ccd information and he says, if there is aa problem i call you back if not its ordered and i will email when it comes in. So i wait 3 weeks and decide to call and check on it cause i had planned to cover all my shopping in that one trip. So i call and they ask for my order number.

Witch i had rite in front of me. He says that number is not in the computer and read it agin. So i did. and he says its still not rite.

He asked who i was and what was orderd. I told him and he said ok i remember you and this order, ill look and see whats going on and call you back with in an hour. Day goes buy and i called next day. He said he had to talk to store manager and wood call back agin in a hour.

I called next day and same ***. So i asked for store manager. Hes on the phone and will call you back, Tried FOUR times in 3 days to get that *** on the phone. SO not only did my order not get place that i waited 3 weeks for was bad enough on a project that is time sensitive, i got the Gal Dang run around for 6 *** days playing phone tag and never did get anyone on the phone to tell me what happened.

So i called back one more time, Explained to a new sales man what happened and he said well no wonder. we are not alowed to take ccd over the phone. I have to come into the store and place my order. I told him where i live and that was not possiable, He said well it store policy.

Then i got upset. Said why was i not told this on the first order then, Well that was not his problem , all he could do was place a new order. So i asked how was he gonna do that. he got smart assy and said .

well tell me what you want. ill put it in the computer and order it like i was the dumb ***. So i asked him how was he gonna do that if he couldnt take a god *** ccd over the phone to pay for it. Then the *** said either place the order or get off his phone.

So i hung up. Im done with menards. Nothing but a bunch of untrained employes and a serious lac of leader ship, I get that mistakes happen, But then dont blow smoke up my rear and pass the buck. Just say i messed up.

I appoligize, what can i do to make it rite with you. Perhaps like reorder it and put a rush on it wood be a good start.

But then its not menards problem. Its our supplyers fault i wasnt trained to do my job !!!

See, I'd take you seriously but your grammar, punctuation, and worst of all, your spelling is absolutely atrocious. If you don't know how to spell the word "right" correctly then there are some problems that you need to fix.

An 8 year old knows how to spell "right", "lack", "would", and "which" correctly. If you aren't intelligent to make a sophisticated post that doesn't look like you let a hamster run across your keyboard, then I don't think you're intelligent enough to be building something.

P.S. Who orders things from 240 miles away?

Guest

Menard's managers are the worst trained in customer service or just don't care. I was the unfortunate recipient of a similar situation when dealing with Menards.

They seem to care now that Home Depot has opened.

The employees are over the top to try and be helpful. I think that it speaks volumes when Menards changed there checkout tills to put the cashier's back to the customer!!!

Michael M Kdl

Menards blows...I'll never go back. Doesn't surprise me at all.

Guest

We recently purchased a 5'WX6'HX10'L Galvanized Kennel from menards. What should have been one hour of set up turned into a horrible four hours.

We are extremely disappointed with the quality of this product in consideration to the price. We had nothing but problems with the entire kennel. The door hinges were welded on completely upside down, the posts were bent and dented and much much more.

We live 3 hrs away from our nearest menards store so it is not as simple as taking it back to have it exchanged or returned. We are extremely upset and will be advising people NOT to purchase anything like this!

Guest

I have had several problems in the past with menards minot store ! If the attitude off anyone that ever worked for me was like that of there employees they would be down the road ! Every customer should be a valued customer !!!

Guest

Frosty is retarded....

Guest

Wahhh. Until you work there you probably shouldn't open your mouth.

Guest

!!!!! has it right, the store is understaffed and cannot handle the problem.

However the store is trying to fix it. It takes years to train a staff properly on the things required to build a house or complete other construction projects. They have offered unbelievable benefits to other experienced Menards employees if they are willing to move to Minot. You can not blame them for their understaffed store because they simply can't get anybody to relocate.

They are trying and once the issues with the flood reside they should begin to get things under control. Menards also has a self-service lumberyard because it is impossible to help every last guest who goes through the lumberyard. They gladly point you in the right direction and ensure you they will answer any further questions. It makes more sense for them to help the 70 year old load 80 units of lumber than it does to help two young construction workers load up 20 units.

I know plenty of you have had issues with Menards and it is unfortunate because they try their hardest to make sure everybody is happy no matter what. Sure not every employee is perfect but what you don't see is that same employee may not be there three months later. There are boxes full of paperwork regarding new and terminated employees as they are constantly trying to create a friendly work environment. If you go to any big name store you will find employees who are great at their job and those who are only there for the money.

Although I am trying to defend Menards, I just want to raise awareness of the facts.

Make sure you have all information on an issue before you jump to conclusions. Sure, Menards loses guests, but the company continues to grow which proves they are doing something right.

Guest

LOL HEY FROSTY, I never said I was a Menards Employee and Minot, i just said I was an employee of Menards. Actually, I don\'t work at that store.Anyways, get over yourself.

Guest

Hay Menards Employee, You should be offended, offended to call your self an employee to a manager that has not trained there staff properly. Your company has ONE job, ONE JOB, SERVE YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Read the posts. Your store SUCKS!!!!! And whats this B.S of you will get a 100 more for everone you loose. Thats 80 percent of the problem you retards have.

No one Gives a *** there. Thats what everone is *** about.

This mentality of dont bug me or dont ask me or i dont feel like doing my job so im gonna hide as much as possiable till my shift is over is the main reason your customers are leaving.. And in the end its gonna come back to *** Johns ***

HANDICAPPED ACCESSABILITY

handicapped parking at exit, how are people supposed to go in, then they only have one electric shopping cart, which is kept at entrance, where there is no handicapped parking. would shop there more often, but only one cart and then depending how many has frequented the store and has used the cart, then the battery goes dead half way through shopping.

Bemidji store # 3269.

Employees are awesome and do what they can to accommodate. forced to enter at exit for handicapped parking, a associate then needs to go the entrance to get electric cart if not in use or being charged up, then when shopping complete, if lucky enough to get shopping done before cart dies, an associate then needs to take it back to entrance.

If you're really handicapped, your insurance will cover an electric cart. Its a big expense for stores.

Each of our stores has 2 wheelchairs in addition to the electric cart. Feel free to stop at the service desk and ask for a wheelchair and a team member to help push you around.

You have to understand that you're in the .005% of people who shop Menards, you can't expect them to make special accommodations. Its like if you were a 4' Little Person, they're not going to have ladders in every aisle to accommodate them.

I am handicapped and a vet. I have no insurance and no income.

The VA will not give me a scooter. I can't walk or stand for than 5sec. What are we suppose to do? I have no family or friends who will help me.

How do u expect handicapped people to shop. Familiarize yourself with ADA laws which have been around a long time. All public, govt buildings must provide reasonable accomplished for handicapped.

Good luck in life and on judgement day as you spew on crippled people.

Hope you don't have a accident and end up in a wheel chair or worse. :x

Menards isnt a public or govt building so therefore they dont have to. They provide wheelchairs and one scooter for those who are disabled. They are not required by law or a higher power to have more then one

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-479751

If you are an honorably discharged vet you should be able to have health care thru the VA, you should also be able to get a w/c...if you are having trouble with this, you can call the White House Vet hot line...

Guest

It seems easier to have the parking by the exit. Less walking if you have several carts vs. making the long walk to the entrance door with nothing in your hands.

Plumbing

Duluth Mn.hwy53 store. Went there for some plumbing parts, found bins of valves with at least 4-5 different part #'s in each specified bn. Caused a huge delay i my task. Maybe it should say K-MART otside instead. Straighten your stuff out. May not ever come back. Took only 2 trips of 18 miles. I complained to the department on duty. Said it was the customers fault they wer mixed up. I thiught it was his job to keep things organized. His name was Tony. Seems like a management problem down to the department manager and his staff. The Home Depot or maybe even good OL DOUBLE DOLLAR DENNY'S gets my money next time. Shame on you Menards

Our stuff in clean and sorted. Its *** that keep moving *** and tossing it in other bins.

We have tens of thousands of items in plumbing alone and for 5-6 people to keep it all straight is a challenge. Go to home depot we don't *** care, we actually prefer it!

Guest

oh big whoop di doo... jesus christ...

have you ever seen how many items menards has... the guy might have one, maybe two helpers in the WHOLE dept.... they have to stock the shelves / help customers / answer the phones / walk a customer to a dept all the way across the store for help or show the customer where something is because most people (probably you) are too friggin' lazy to look for it yourself cut the guy some slack... i used to work at menards, so I KNOW the last thing the poor guy has time for is to keep valves straight...

maybe if you see someone messing it up say something...

sometimes people do that on purpose, i've seen it... you know he has hundreds if not thousands of items to keep track of UNDERSTAND THAT you *** whiner....

Guest

Thank Dennis Dixon for slashing plumbing's payroll from literally double the amount it was 8 years ago. It is Tony's job to keep the store clean, but Tony has soooo much other important stuff to do too.

They need a lot more team members, but the guest service at their stores has gone down tremendously. Ever notice that Lowe's has many many more team members working?

Menards will not refund 100percent of purchase

Ordered a ondura roof in Oct. They said they would contact me when it came in.

After two weeks we called to find out it had been there for a week, but the nails were back ordered. Also the nails were the wrong size. Another three weeks wait. Dec 07 was the date but that was changed again.

The weather is not going to cooperate and when asked for a refund, they said there would be a restocking fee. The roof has been on ordered for 2 months still no nails! They were supposed to call me last week where the nails were, no phone call.

Our roofer is getting mad about keeping this load on his trailer for this long time and what is he going t do with it this winter. Just hoping the roof doesn't start leaking any worse!

It happens, wrong size. Thats where all the sales come from.

The millions of mixed up nuts, bolts, and fittings. Let alone going back three times. Now, I buy everything I need plus more, and do the project right away. Then return what you didn't use.

No wasted time, 1 trip there, 1 trip back when your done.

But the downtime wouldn't make me happy. I'd still shop there for everything though.

Guest

He picked up at least 90% of his purchase. The only thing he claims he never got were his "nails." He could have easily canceled that portion and bought different nails.

I guarantee it. Instead of doing that he wanted to return it all; WHICH REQUIRES A RESTOCKING FEE.

But I'm willing to accept some of you people will come on here and still be *** about it. And as FinnandJake said if the guest comes in and is nice and respectful the restocking fee is normally waived.

Guest

Too bad Heartless doesn't understand what it means to fulfill a contract. Yes the contract may show an estimated delivery date but being 2 moths late is beyond reasonable expectations I think you will find most judges would find Menards did not uphold their end of the contract and reward a full refund, not a refund less a restock charge.

The restock charge is for someone who changes their mind about what they want. This person obviously wanted the materials to install the roof, they just haven't been delivered in full.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-584406

actually on our special order contracts (assuming it was special order since they said they had to order it) it says that the estimated arrival date is dependent on promises by others. others meaning the company shipping it out!

make sure you know about our contracts before telling us how it should be fulfilled. and if it was that big of a deal menards sells other nails that are stocked at the store. and it also says that any special order return will come with a restock fee. says it right in our return policy.

however MOST menards stores will waive the restock fee if you're cooperative and understanding. being rude and obnoxious will get you no where.

Guest

I worked at Menards for 2 years and most of the time if the guest was nice or was obviously dealing with a hardship but wasn't being a butt about the whole situation, we normally knocked the fee off. But if they were rude or mostly inconsistent with the "return story" (as we called it) then we said there was no other alternative. I'm sorry this happened to you.

this dosent shock me at all menards screwing someone plz the only thing menards cares about is your money after that they dont know who u are anymore ever checked out the toilet paper in their restrooms ?That is about what they think of you.former employees of menards will tell you the same thing they only care about their bottom line if that means screwing a couple people here and there so be it .

Guest

A FULL REFUND WAS OFFERED, dumb@***s. However, a restocking fee was charged which is totally LEGAL for something that is not typically stocked at the store.

It covers the free shipping he did not pay for and the space it is not taking up at the store. IT'S TOTALLY LEGAL, DUMB@***S.

RE-READ WHAT HE SAID DUMB@***S THEY WERE CHARGING HIM A RESTOCKING FEE. TOTALLY LEGAL!

Guest

Heartless is full of hot air. Posts a lot like he knows his stuff.

Obviously hasn't been to court to defend one of these "contracts".

Any judge would laugh him out of the court room when the product is 2 months past due. A reasonable store manager would have either found nails that would work to install the product or offered a full refund.

Guest

You and Nikalseyn are very dumb. You entered a contract with Menards when you placed the order.

Did you pay shipping for your special order? NO! Number 1 reason there is a restocking fee! Number 2 reason is because it's now at the store taking up space it was not intended to take up losing Menards money.

As far as being contacted; Menards contacts people via email and or real mail depending on the information you provided. @ NIKALSEYN YOU'RE TOTALLY CLUELESS. He already has some of the stuff he ordered, he tried to return it. Menards stated the policy which is totally legal and several other retail business have the same policy.

If he wants any of his money back at all he will need to pay the restocking fee. There is no legal action he can take against Menards on such matters. He didn't hold up his end of the contract by trying to return the items. All Menard special orders are estimated delivery dates.

ESTIMATED!

If anyone orders something and it goes on back order they could be waiting months(I've seen this happen), and that's the manufacturers problem NOT MENARDS. Had he not picked up any of his items he could have canceled, but he picked up some of the items so at that point the RESTOCKING FEE IS A MUST.

John N Mzy

Go somewhere else. Cancel the order and tell them you have no intention of paying a "restocking fee" for something they messed up and did not fully deliver.

I suggest you get an attorney to "talk" to them if the amount is large enough. Also, if they have your card info, you have the dispute process or just tell the card company the charge is fraudulent, etc.

Many avenues here to proceed with. Bottom line, Menard's does not seem to care that you have a real problem which should have been resolved..
