How the heck does one not see the difference between a layer of tan pavers and grey pavers? How blind are you?

Get a clue and own up for some of the blame. I will be willing to bet you did not want to take any part of the blame.

Really, don't you know what you are taking when you leave somewhere? Come on, there is a big difference between tan and grey.

I never realized what a slip shot operation Menards is. I was always a big Menards fan until they built their new BIG Menards. I always felt like I was getting a good deal in the older smaller store; now I see that we the consumers are paying for the newer bigger...

Menards in Livingston, New Jersey - A big lack of give a *** to the customer

2 months ago I started a simple 12x20 deck project, to my concern about previous menards encounters my wife talked me into going back to purchase the Ultra deck Fusion decking and railing system. Needless to say I still am not done with the deck, for starters we special order the decking and can no do it over the phone with a credit card, so I have to drive 50 miles to pay for it. Second it was a delivery date of 7 days which turned into 21/2 weeks and then to top it off the railing system was wrong. Reordered and had to wait, by now my deck stringers are all twisted from drying out. Finally get to installing the hand railing and find out that I got F_cked again, they did not give me the correct handrail insert, I had to go to the web site myself and tell the dip s_it at the counter what I needed, Thanks Menards for all the Headach and wasted gas to and from, I WILL NOT BE BACK AGAIN.

*%#!-poor customer service. I had a customer that needed additional oak trim and I found the correct profile at Menards. I needed 10 footers and eight footers and I did not want to haul 16 footers. I asked a store employee if they offer to cut the 16 footers in half....

The mouldings are sold in even foot lengths 8 thru 16'. Seems like you would have just purchased the 8 and 10' lengths you needed rather than having someone cut 16' footers that someone might need.

My guess is you didn't even look at the 8' bin that is located below the 10-16' lengths. Now that they stock the various lengths they do there should be no need for cutting.

Menards Does Not Care About Its Customers

We have had a lot of work done at our house lately and ALL hold ups have been caused by MENARDS. They special order items with a delivery date ...yet it is tentative, it goes not into days ! But weeks and months. They have done nothing but cause us money, time and greif. We call the store and speak to the same guy all the time and he does not! remember anything about the problem. Do they have that many problems. They do not! want to do anything until you get loud with them they they say they will call the manufacturer. That rarely happens. Doesnt anyone there take pride in their job. I e-mailed their customer service site and was told someone would get back to me...no one! did. So I think its time people start looking at who they are dealing with! These people dont give a *** about you ,their jobs,or the company they work for! Whos watching the Menards Money? Or doesnt he care either?

first of all, learn to puncuate properly. Also, the delivory date is provided from the vendor, not menards.

After some items are ordered from certain vendors menards has ZERO to do with how long it takes to get shipped from that vendor. Menards does not stock every single item in it's warehouse it's impossible. Now if you're having problems with one employee there is always a manager who is higher up.

I would just like to say i'm so sorry that this happened to you, and that it isn't your fault. Here's the thing, Menards likes to put up this thing I like to call the blame shield...they can never take the blame for anything, even if it is obviously an employees fault. Things like this happen all of the time at Menards, I personally don't understand why anyone would ever shop there, Menards has very poor costumer service mostly because everyone who works there hates it and the only reason they work there is because the pay is nice.

Well Obviously you were doing a no receipt return. You could easly prevent this if you kept your receipts.

I understand thats hard to do as a plumber who buys a lot of things. But you have to either do that or....when you found out you needed a drivers license the first time maybe you should have thought about that before you went without a current one to return more the second time. We need a current i.d.

to make sure you havent stolen from our store and to keep track of how many no receipt returns you have done. Keep in mind that...we do this because if you are someone who has stolen obviously you will not have a receipt for that item.

well, smaller hardware stores don't have much of a choice but to fervently sell "service" over selection and price. big box stores have the luxury of buying power and huge selections, so you see stores like lowe's and HD with slogans such as "you can do it, we can help", and "let's build something together".

they really try to emphasize the service, as they already know their pricing is in a virtual dead heat.

in a smaller store, i'd bet you pay your associates more than a big box store pays its' employees. this is because they are supposed to know specific things about the products they sell, and to carry a certain amount of professionalism along with them. places like menards hire the high school kid looking for a job because he's cheap, and he can consistently stock the shelves without making a mess.

that's all that's really required at a store like that. everything balances out in the end.

you pay for what you get.

and thanks to everyone for the gracious compliments/opinions. a round of beer on me--for the house!
