Menards in Indianapolis, Indiana - Ripoff on return policy

bought shinges on 2/20/09 due to wind damage. returned unused on 4/26/09. was told have to put on debit card even though we paid cash because there was not enough to give cash back. 2 days later still not money in bank. go to the store said they would have to charge our debit card for that amout to give us our cash. sounds like double charging to me. went straight to the back to check on deposit no transaction in progress. i have worked retail for 15 years. if you do not enough money in the register at return booth call cash office for a loan. i will not buy anything from menards again. they want charge you twice just to refund your money to you.

Dumb. what the heck is a cash office?

Couldn't you have come back later when the store had enough cash to help you with the purchase you made that you DIDNT NEED? Your problem.

They tried to help you the best they could. Let it go.

call the "cash office" for a loan?? what???

i'm pretty sure they'd get you your cash back if they had it anywhere in the store. i've seen a cash return done of upwards of $3,000 before, and it nearly wiped out the contents of the store safe.

regarding the transaction not going back onto your card... either the cashier made a mistake, or you're really *** ***.

the computer system puts money back onto an account in the same way and the same amount of time it would to take it off. so hold off on your ranting until you know the ACTUAL cause of this.

Happened to me too. It's a junk product.

Cheap *** like a lot of what Menards sells (like their lumber though) get the more expensive Napa or Ace version. And it will be fine.

Menards in Minot, North Dakota - Guy

I hate when ppl do that..they can never get the point store policys are put in place to give a customer info..and the thing is if you pay attention to your receipts at any store walmart, kmart, lowes, home depot and menards turn it around!! store policys and procedures are printed right on the back for you to know your rights and the stores writes..stores can only do so much when it comes to returns thats WHY manufactor warranty is in place..first 30days through the store the rest is manufators responsibility unless otherwhise stated by the store. walmart accepts ne thing and everything and they pay for it..you could go buy something some where else for crying out loud and not like it and take it to walmart and they'd take it ..seen it done and so for ppl that get pissed at stores for not returning something because of policys..just look at the signs that are always POSTED at the customer service counter and look at your receipt.

Look at the stores who take back everything.. Such as, ahhh..

Home Depot, they take back anything and they continue to post net losses. Its not their fault you waited 4 months to take your broken product back.

I bet you are one of those people who didnt even call the company to get your warranty claim. Its really not that hard.

I work at Menards in Saint Paul. I cannot believe we are open on Easter when Wal Mart employees get to spend time with family. You want to see some rude and crabby employees? Stop on by on Easter. It's heathen Christmas in there with people speaking every language...

If it weren't for Home Depot Menards would be closed on Easter. It all started with Home Depot being open on the 4th of July.

Menards was closed and Home Depot parked their trucks in Menards parking lots with a sign saying they were open. Menards hasn't been closed on a Holiday Home Depot is open since.

To WOW

As for not needing a non-motorized chair, you ever try pushing yourself around a huge store in a regular wheelchair?

You people are brutal. You should be so lucky as to never be old and ailing. (Like that won't happen...)

I work at Menards and one person out of how many employees are like this. I am not even in the same state but I can tell you that in COLUMBUS NE this does not happen.

We strive for good guest service. Its what keeps us alive. We can not please everyone..but its not because we didnt try :( That is retail. And if every person were happy there would be world peace.

This one incident does not speak for all.

I know that in my store it would not be tolerated. And from experience there are two sides to every story and I am sure there is more to it.

Menards Lancaster? Good store and good prices, if you only get a few items!

Don't plan on doing a big project because the aggravation with the mistakes and delivery delays along with their (I don't care Attitude) will have you so upset it won't be worth low prices even with the 11% so called rebates.

PS - All outside sales work off commission! Beware!!
