Menards doesn't honor retired people with a discount!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I've supported Menards for many years with thousands of dollars in purchases with my hard earned money during my working years. Do you think they will offer a discount to a senior citizen living on social security?

*** NO!!! You'd think they'd show some appreciation to their customers that helped them build 300+ stores with the profits from their purchases and offer a little discount. Look at it as a dividend on profits they earned from my purchases.

I'm not one of those people that thinks I deserve a discount because of the profession I chose, I supported their growth one the past 40 years. At least the Wendy's across the street from their store offers a senior discount.

Wow....entitled much? No business is obligated to offer you a discount because you are a senior citizen.

In fact most businesses don't.

I'm sure Menards will survive without you looking for freebies and discounts.

Disgusting.

Guest

If you have to explain that you're doing a parody, then you're not very good at parodies.

Guest

Any type of discount is offered as a courtesy.

Any business is not obligated to offer any type of discount.

What about teachers, firefighters, doctors, EMS employees, and so on who do not get a discount?

Why only senior citizens?

You have the option to shop somewhere else.

Menard's as well as any other business has the option to offer a discount or not to offer a discount. Since you are not happy about this, send a letter to their Corporate headquarters stating what you wrote in your complaint. That information is found on their website.

Before too many people get their undies in a bunch, this post was a parody of the posts by vets complaining about not getting a discount. Posted by someone who has actually been Menards customer for years and has supported the company through the profits they have made, not a first time shopper thinking the should get a discount due to their profession. You are correct that there are a lot of deserving people out there that would also deserve a discount which is exactly why Menards doesn't cater to one but gives a fair price to all.

And exactly how are we supposed to know it was a Menard's customer who posted this complaint?

It's called being aware. It's being in the 2% of people who get it. You obviously don't so stop trying.

Fort Dodge Iowa menards, no military discounts

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Shopping at Menards in Fort Dodge Iowa on November 11 2017 “Veterans Day “ they informed me that they never gave a 10% military discount, what a slap in the face for all military members, especially on Veterans Day. I served 22 years active duty USAF and am retired .

I will try to shop else where when ever possible from now on . The person I talked with was named Drew, and was part of their management team.

Please post this as often as possible. From Msgt David Alberts , Retired USAF .

This is one of the most entitled posts I've ever read. My husband is active duty military and would NEVER demand a discount like that.

He's extremely grateful when a store offers one, but never expects. Super sad that you are using your veteran status for perks.

Thank your husband for serving our country and not taking an entitled attitude.

OP:

Do nurses get discounts?

Do EMS staff get discounts?

Do 911 operators get discounts?

These people help save lives.

What about them as well?

I think pretty much everyone appreciates what our vets have done for the country but your service does not entitle you to a discount everywhere you go. Does every other store you shop at give you a discount?

I doubt it. You should appreciate discounts when they are offered and thank those businesses, but there is no need to trash those that don't. I hate to have to break it to you, but there are a lot of other people that do great things for their communities and the country as well...Police officers, firefighters, teachers and on and on.

Many businesses don't want to play favorites and just can't afford to give discount to everyone. If you feel you must post, post positive comments for the stores that give you discounts, but as a wise man once said...If you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything at all.

Rebates are not real

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Sent several during the 11%, only got 1 back. balance shows check issued but never appears.

This is now the fourth time I've experienced this. Purchased several products - and was consistent in following all the directions ensuring that these were sent in seperate envelopes (though not necessary). Clearly written addresses, etc. They received them, posted them on the site but NO Checks!

Sent an email requesting those checks (which showed open status still - went into oblivion). There must be a tactic to this where they only process so many and the rest are out of luck.

If I want to play the lotto I'll do that on purpose and play the lotto vs this scam. Done with rebates @ Menards (need to change their theme - where you may save money at menards).

Have purchased during every single 11% rebate period Menards has had in the last YEAR and ALWAYS have gotten my rebate back.

Guest

Bet you got it and threw it away. If you don't take time to look at the post cards that show up in your mail you could easily toss it out as junk mail.

Guest

First off, Menard's NEVER issues rebate "checks". They issue a postcard that has a store credit on it.

Guest

We do rebates from Menards all the time - at least a few every month - and I've never had a problem. Just take the info into a store or call customer service and they will get it figured out.

Rebates

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In April 2017 I purchased a fence that had a rebate! I filled out all of the necessary forms, and mailed it in.

In July I checked on the status? They e-mailed me back after several weeks and said the check was sent but never cashed? They told me then they would void that check and send another. I said fine!

Here it is 10/6/2017 and no check? There is no phone only email communications. I called the store in Carmel In. And talk with the manager Brandon who told there was nothing they could do he has no way of communicating with them either!

Good by Menards and the fat cat that owns them! Maybe Steven Hilberts Wife could help!

First off, you don't get a rebate check from Menard's. You get a little post card that is a store credit only. If you are expecting to get a check you can cash and spend anywhere you obviously didn't read the fine print in their adds and on every sign that has the rebate on it.

Guest

Doesn't sound like you tried another e-mail. You just called the store and they have nothing to do with processing rebates.

When you first contacted them did you check to see if they had the correct address? Sometimes it's hard to read peoples handwriting.

Menards rebate scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Nice try to blame it on the consumer - I have filled out so many of these rebate forms and only received one after I complained - it magically showed up - I am not alone in saying I will not shop at Menards because of the rebate scam - my advice is Menards stop the scam and just have lower prices - I’m pissed and I’ve told everyone about the problem with these rebates and you better not dare blame it on me and oh I did not fill the form out correctly - you guys need a honest rebate processor.

I returned a product and they kept a 113.50 and said I had a rebate coming at that amount.

they said the check was issued 8/10/17.Went back 10/2/17 and they issued another check.

it`s now 11/30/17 no check. I went in today in Lima Ohio store and the general manager Justin Bellows

said he could not help me .

They kept a 113.50 of my money and I don`t want a store credit that I have to spend their. I will never buy from Menards again .

Machele Imf

Menard's has another of their 11% rebate promotions again this week. Seems like every other week they have it.

This is because it is a money-maker for them.

However, yes I agree it is a scam., altho of the two rebate forms I sent in last year both came to me in the form of a small postcard. However, you would do better to just wait for whatever it is you want to go on sale and buy it then as the sale price is usually a better deal than buying it and then getting an 11% rebate.

Like the other person said there are always two side to a story. Your story has very little detail and nothing I would believe.

Perhaps you're the one with the attitude problem. Perhaps every time this "manager" sees you they dread everything about their job. Perhaps you borderline harrase this "manager" and because of your ignorance you're fully unaware of it. The world does not revolve around.

Perhaps this "manager" has some very challenging things going in in her life. Something you may never comprehend. Next time try harder to understand what the "manager" is communicating. Realize she is a person just like you!

Treat her the way you want to be treated. Finally the next time you have an issue like this write some actual facts that support your case, instead of an uneducated opinion rant.

Guest

There's always 2 sides to a story. Was she busy mixing paint for other customers and just not able to get over to the sprayers as quickly as you wanted?

Rebate Scam

I was eligible for a large rebate $300+, submitted everything appropriately and on time and still have not received my rebate. It's been several months, I have addressed the issue many times with customer service at the store and have contacted rebate international to no avail.

This is false advertising, Menards advertises rebates and then never delivers. I've heard stories of this happening to many people. It's appalling behavior and an extremely unethical business practice.

I like to shop at Menards, but will not support a company with such unethical and shady practices. Shame on you Menards, it's an embarrassment.

Funny they need a fake company, building pictures and address because they can’t own up to thier OWN rebates proceiing done by Sue Mulder right in Eau Claire.... she work for John Menards people - wake up!!

Rebate International run by Sue Mulder right off Menard drive in Eau Claire WI. The website and the picture of the address and the PO Box in Elk Mound are there to divert blame and accountability when Menards screws up your rebate. The build picture on the website is not even theirs....that should tell you something right there!

Guest

Customer service at the store can do nothing for you. Did you bother tracking your rebate on Menards.com.?

You can see whether or not they received it, if it is in process or has been mailed. That's the best place to start.

BEWARE OF ONLINE ORDERS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
After contacting customer service which I was only able to do via email, I was told I would have to bring our unopened shower door back to a store. I was unable to ship back to vendor. For us to take it back to the store we would incur a 25% “restocking fee“ which amounted to about $200. After many more emails, I discovered on the very bottom of their return policy that anything ordered online as a “special order“ and subject to the 25% restocking fee. The fact that anything ordered online is a special order and subject to the 25% restocking fee should be clearly stated when you order. I find this very customer unfriendly! I will never use Menards again and I warn anyone else, friends and family, and anyone reading this to be aware.

It's always a good idea to check out return policies of any store you shop at on line, even more important when you are ordering a large expensive item.

Well yeah dummy you think sticking them with your order mistake is right? They have to recoup freight cost. They may offer that instead of fully refusing to return anything to you.

2 Rebates not received

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have submitted 2 different rebates to Menards over the last 4 months and have not received any back. I have sent e-mails, but received no response by Menards on my request. Are these being processed? Or are they being ignored on purpose? . Why offer rebates when not processed. . I will no longer consider Menards rebates as a true savings and look elsewhere if better overall cost is available. One recent rebate was for 11% and I bought at Menards based on this savings. Without it, Lowes was cheaper, and I did not need to fill out a form.

Should not be so exasperating for a customer to obtain what was promised by the company they trusted. Bad omen for future business!

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1379949

When a promotion works well for so many, you have to wonder what goes wrong with those that have a problem. Are they throwing the post cards the get as a credit check away?

Did they void their rebate by going in and getting a price adjustment for a lower price? Was their handwriting illegible? And the list goes on and on.

If the rebates didn't work for the majority of the people do you think they would be such a popular promotion. They run the 11% rebate 50% of the year and there are always rebates on individual items as well.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1379949

I can tell you that at least 10 people each week mail these to my store instead of the rebate center. We have contractors that get rebates for several thousands of dollars. I find it hard to believe that Menards can process their rebates, but not yours...

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1380264

Again, if so many people can get it wrong because it’s not absolutely clear, or they send in for the rebate and never get a response, then whole rebate thing is win for Menards at the expense of their customers. Rebates of several thousand dollars—do you really think anybody believes that?

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1380264

Yes, I believe it since I have received them myself. Do you know that Menards ran that promotion for 7 weeks straight?

Do YOU believe that a company can do this sooo much and it be a scam? Sorry if something went wrong in your case, but stop slamming Menards and making up situations that don't exist.

Unsubscribing to this useless thread, soooo stupid. Tired of stupid people filling my email with crap.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1380264

The mail to address is the biggest thing on the rebate form. I am not sure how much clearer it could be for people.

It is only unclear to people that choose not to follow directions. I have never had a problem receiving my rebates and I have had some that were over $300 during my home remodel.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1379949

Have you looked at how many cars are in a Menards parking lot compared to Lowes or Home Depot? Looks like they are doing a lot more business than the other 2.

Don't think they are going away any time soon. Menards uses many more rebates than Home Depot.

Just take a look at Home Depot's complaints on Behr Rebates. My guess is that there are a certain number of consumers that just can't follow directions and properly submit a rebate.

Guest

Exactly why do you say Menards is a scam? If you go to any Menards that is in eyesight of either a Lowes or Home Depot you can see Menards is more popular by the number of vehicles in their parking lot. If they are such a scam, why do people prefer to shop there?

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1386099

It's a scam because you follow all of the instructions, send in the rebate, wait for the rebate which most people never get, or have to wait 6-7 months for, it's total {{REDACTED}}

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1386700

If most people never get the rebates, why are they so popular? Most people do get them.

There are those that don't follow instructions and there are those that get a price adjustment or return products and void their rebates.

It's obvious the rebates are real and work for the majority of people. If they were a scam Menards parking lots wouldn't be so full.

Guest

What did you do to follow up on the rebate? Did you check the status of the rebate on-line?

If it didn't show that they had received it, you could have contacted them for instructions on how to re-subimt the rebate. If you haven't done anything to help yourself you have only yourself to blame.

Anytime you shop online it is a good idea to look at the return policy of the store you are shopping at. Menards is not the most consumer friendly when it comes to shopping online.

They have a restock charge on all returns and it is one of the highest out there for stores that have a restock charge. Shop in their stores if you can or check other online retailers before ordering from Menards.

Menard's warranties are bad!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We purchased an LG washer and dryer in 2014 through Menards. We bought an extended warranty as we checked out....

Just to be safe. The washer, after 4 years of use is broken....But no big deal right???? We purchased a warranty Wrong . The company we have to go through for the repair is Warrantech.

They are a nightmare to work with. I called them at the beginning of August.... They scheduled a technician to come and look at it ....He was 3 days out , but OK .. .I can get by right?

He didn't show. I called Warrantech and got an " oh sorry we will send someone else out. ..to make a long story short we didn't see anyone until the middle of the month.... He told us it was the rotor as and they we would order the part and they should get it in a couple of days and will then call to set up a time for the repair...They didn't get them ordered until another week and then Warrantech denied the parts...

Then Warrantech said the parts were ordered but we're on back order.... I called L G. And asked if the part was back ordered and they said no they have it on stock!!!! What is going on????

Why are companies like this allowed to do this to people?

Places like Menards make money off of these warranties so they continue to sell them with their .appliances...That's awful I have since looked up Warrantech s ratings and reviews and they are terrible! Why would Menard's sell anyone a nightmare warranty with a company like this....By try the way...It's Sept 4 and the washer is still broke.....But don't worry they will send out another service technician so they can deny his parts order request too!!!

So blame Menards for a third party warranty?

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1368759

Yes, Menards should be responsible. They are the one that picked the company and they are the ones who sell the warranty.

They have the relationship with the warranty company.

This is just like you would contact your dealership of your vehicle if you had an issue. You do not deal directly with Ford, Dodge or Chevy the dealership does.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1369075

So if your tire goes flat, because you overloaded your vehicle, and caused it to pop a tire, it’s the dealerships fault? I’m confused by your statement.

There are things covered under a manufacturers warranty, a store warranty, a 3rd party warranty, and things that are not covered at all.

Usually the store warranty is 7 days if you don’t like it bring it back, the manufacturers warranty basically says, if we built it wrong, we will fix our mistake, 3rd party warranties are usually on an aggregate, covering service and repairs up to the price that you paid for the appliance, and then there’s normal wear and tear, excessive wear and tear, cosmetic damages, and user error which are not covered under some warranties. What does your warranty say it will cover in writing?

Guest

Because the companies that sell the warranties make big money selling them. With their huge profits they can afford to make big donations to politicians and pay lobbyists to keep laws in their favor.

Horrible Customer Experience Buyers BEWARE Out of state Buyers

Menard's Wyoming location is crooked as lightning. They sent me the wrong material twice and lied about the 11% rebate. They will not help you even if it was their mistake on the rebate. If you live out of state I highly recommend you stick with Lowe's or Home Depot. They will be out of business soon with this corrupt business practice. The mistakes made were horrendous and the management team is PATHETIC. Absolutely no intentions of helping you once you pay them. The store GM is a complete corporate puppet with little or no spine. The management will offer no acceptance to their employee mistakes and the customer experience is not even a consideration. I thought I was saving money but I am not and my garage took an extra 3 months to finish due to the wrong material being sent to me.

What do you mean by sending the wrong materials. Did they ship something other than what was on your order?

Were you expecting something other than what you ordered? Did the materials not meet code in your state? Be more specific so people can understand what your complaint is. Why are you complaining about the store manager?

Companies have policies and expect their managers to enforce them.

Would you expect the store manager to go against corporate policy and risk losing their job. I expect that if you were in their position, you'd choose to keep your job as well.

Look at the ads, the signs and the rebate slips. They all tell you the rebate is in the form of a merchandise credit.

Why would you send it to your bank?

They don't expire so you should have no problem using it when you get back to Michigan. Not their fault you failed to understand the rebate.
