Menards in Spirit Lake, Iowa - Sent me to pick up material that wasnt in

I had ordered metal roofing to redo my garage , when i placed the order on a friday afternoon i then traveled home 70 miles to hibbing mn from duluth . The next morning i looked the order over , by the way it was made by a menards rep , on their little computor planer , anyway i looked the order over and found that he forgot to order half the screws for the roof , so i had to do a credit card order over the phone ,,well about 2 weeks i received a little card that said my order was in , and when i lined up a truck and a flat bed trailer to go pick it up they told me that what came in was the 3 bags of screws , so i told them they should deliver the roofing to me for free being it was their mistake in the first place which caused this mess , and as for matching up the order numbers all it says on the card is herm , short for hermantown and then right next to that some numbers , very deceiving cause it looks like it would be a store number well they told me they wouldnt deliver unless i paid for the delivery which is about 125 dollars ,,,,,well i just ordered my last item from menards from now on its Home Depot or Lowes

Where to start, first you have to sign the contract and are asked to sign it at the store. Second those "deceiving numbers" are purchase order numbers which match your order.

When you reordered the screws it was a new order.

Makes sense that 3 bags of screws came in faster than a larger order. Sometimes taking the time to understand what you are doing and signing is important.

It seems like you might want to look your order over BEFORE you place it. Why drive 70 miles home and then check to see if it is correct. Could have avoided this if you had taken a few minutes at the store to make sure everthing you wanted was on the order.

You're a dunce. Those "deceiving numbers" on your postcard are the order number.

Check it against your paperwork,or God forbid, take 2 seconds to call the store and see which order it is.

You can even check it online at the Menards website, for that matter. It's not Menards fault you're too *** to find out what's at the store before you drive your dumb *** in there. Home Depot and Lowes can't fix your stupidity either,so good luck to you.

They wouldn't give me a discount on my birthday either. How cheap can they get. Guess I'll have to shop elsewhere as well.

Here's some advice for you, the regular customer who doesn't shoplift: never go into the back of a store with a security guard, store manager, rent-a-cop, etc. Never. Someone posted the following story in the Janesville, Wisconsin CraigsList over the weekend....

I would have matched that price for you at my store just to see the smile on your face... then slapped it off with the very same brick you purchased... retard

I'm quite sure with Menards being a mostly Midwestern based company and not a Major National company as Lowe's and Depot are... that they spend much more time and effort with checking competitiors pricing and staying on top of their pricing than Lowe's and Depot do in checking out Menard's.

Not many companies will competitively match a price unless it is for the exact same item. As stated above Menard's also owns their own concrete/block plants while Lowe's and Depot purchase from others so it's not likely that the gentleman with the spelling problems above was even matching like items while demanding the price be matched.

In order to get yourself taken seriously, learn how to spell, use the correct words and construct sentences first. How can you intelligently present your case to someone babblin? I wouldn't match your price either.

Anonymous
#120880

If it is the exact same product they do match prices. Of course they can't just take your word for it or they'd go out of business. You need to provide proof that a cheaper price is out there.

Consider learning to spell or use the correct version of a word. Should you call the knews?

I am going to guess that these were 2 different kinds of landscape bricks. I know for a fact that Menards has different blocks than Lowes and the prices are much better because Menards doesn't buy them from a supplier.

Their own company makes them. It always amuses me when I read what is obviously half of the story!

Yeah the company/bank (HSBC) controls the apr. NOT MENARDS. Don't bad mouth the store itself unless you have a valid complaint about the store itself!

Anonymous
#83724

Why are you blaming the store. They don't control the APR.

The bank does. And you will start noticing alot of credit cards APR has gone up.

Hope Depot works for you. In our area they are closing contractor accounts.

At least Menards still offers credit to contractors. Pay your statment off monthly and you don't need to be concerned with what the interest rate is.

I don't understand how you can say Menards did not honor the warranty. The warranty comes from the manufacturer, not the store.

The warranty covers repairs at a service center. Did you take the mower in to be repaired? Only if the service center deems the mower defective and non-repairable can Menards take it back and return it to the manufacturer. Far too many people cause their own problem by failing to add oil or using stale gas.

If the mower was defective you would not be charged at a service center. Failing to add oil or use fresh gas would not be covered by the warranty and the service center would be correct in charging you, as it is a problem you caused.
