Menards in Washington, District Of Columbia - Military Discount

My husband and I went to Menards in Quincy,Il. on Nov. 24th. We have done a lot of shopping there since they opened this year. We got to the check outs and were told that there is no more military discount. They said it was discrimination. I guess the only ones complaining were the ones that didn't serve their country.Put your life on the line then you would also get the dicount. We will be shopping at Lowe's again. We told them about no discount and they couldn't beleive it. I hope whoever decdied to do away with the discount doesn't need the help on the military or any other man or women who puts their life on the line everyday for us.Memards you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!!!!! My husband says you are cheap *** in his book!!!!!!!

I have been a volunteer firefighter for over 30 years now. I cannot tell how many family functions, gatherings, holidays I have missed or been extremely late to due to fighting a house fire, pulling injured people out of destroyed cars, or done CPR for 45 minutes to an hour only to tell a family I am sorry about your loss.

No one owes me anything for doing any of this. My family support me 100%.

Much in the way families of service men and women support their kin. Thank you for your service, but don't expect anything handed to you these days.

I think some are missing the point. Some Menards stores offer military discount and some don't.

For example Lima Ohio does and Tipp City Doesn't. When I asked they said that it is discrimation to give military a discount and not others. Oh, they do offer an employee discount.

Is that discrimation? I don't discount that police and fire put their life on the line but last time I checked they weren't being deployed for up to 18 months at a time away from their families.

WOW! Because of our military, Menards is able to discontinue the discount AND you are able to voice your opinion in this forum.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!!!!!!!!

I too was disappointed that Menards dropped the military a discount. However, this is a business decision alone.

I am ashamed that some feel they are "owed" a discount. The military discount has saved me nearly $2,000 over the past few years and I appreciate Menards for it.

#235072

If you want a discount bad enough then find a way--I have been both military and contractor. Menards is a company trying to make it happen--Grow up or take up cage fighting.

In other words get in the fight or get run over..

ps-if you don't get resolution at the store then try a corporate contact--or even better write them. Nuff said

I am a veteran and current service member. Nobody owes me a thing for my service.

I serve proudly and expect nothing in return. Menard's doesn't owe me a discount. I did enjoy it when they offered it, but it ins't a big deal that they discontinued it.

If I want the discount, I can go to Lowes or Home Depot. That is the freedom that we have in our country.

Anonymous
#220188

stop crying about not getting a discount, police and firefighters put their lives on the line everyday and I dont hear them asking for a discount, why do you think you are so special??

Anonymous

BB, you are one of the contractors over in Iraq that get paid up to 10X what our military gets, and have the guts to complain about it? ***.

#218437

I find it funny that you think the store OWES you a discount, and by the way Menards has cheaper prices than Lowes and Home Depot, so it really isn't price matching because they already have the lower prices.

@skdjkdkj

Not true! Lowes price was the same as Menards, then they gave Military 10 percentage discount.

Do police officers get a discount? Doctors?

Firemen? Teachers? Volunteers? I could go on and on.

There are millions of people in the world that give back to this country. There is no draft anymore. What you do with your life is your choice.

I am thankful for all americans that give back to our country. I guess im not sure why a retail discount just for folks in the military makes any sense.....

Menards in Evansville, Indiana - Rebates & employees

I think it is wrong to offer rebates that can only be used in menards stores. Had bought border & needed more and an employee tried to sell me one that had been returned & had already been cut for $5.00. He told me there was no more when in fact he had not even looked for it!! found another person who had him look a& low & behold he found some. We have been remodeling & have taken our business to lowes for cheaper prices with price matching & rebates for cash. polite sales people, Menards lost our business of $22,000.00.

Menards on black friday

Went to Menards this morning-black friday to wait in line for over an hour in the freezing cold to get a TV. Only to have about 30 people who had just got there rush the exit door from the parking lot right to the TV's, guess what, all sold No One in line that waited had a chance to get one and No One stopped these people-So Unfair! Don't expect to go there and wait in the subzero temps and have even a Chance at getting one of those Door Busters when they allow this kind thing to happen-Never Again!

You'll notice that those who commented on your complaint couldn't have cared less about you as a customer or a person. That's that specialized Menards training.

While they are only smart enough to identify your greed on Black Friday, they followed-up with a few laughs on. Make you wonder would anyone buy anything, ever from Menards?

Anonymous
#257310

first of all no one told your dumb *** to stand out in the cold thats your problem, second i went to menards a few years back and they had the exit doors closed and employees doing crowd control its always frist one gets one no matter were you go

Anonymous
#254870

I really am a cashier at one of the south east stores and our store opened all of the doors at the same time. It is a fire hazard to not have ALL of the doors freely flowing in and out so by laws and regulations and safety that is just how the cookie crumbles.

My family was able to stay warm in their car while everyone cowered in the cold clinging on to their blankets, coffee, and stupidity.. so when they opened ALL of the doors as everyone outside lined up at ONE, we were one of those people who got that tv. Which in case you might be wondering, it's great even though it's from China, and because it's from China I opted for the extension warranty..

so I'll have a SWEET tv for at least 2 years! :P

I am a Menards cashier and I stood there and watched the crowd rush in through the entrance doors, we did not let anybody in through the exit doors. This complain is a lie.

Anonymous
#242708

So because you want a tv, the employees are supposed to risk their safety by controlling rushing crowds? I feel soooo bad that you were cold that morning--maybe it's karma for all the employees who had to show up at 5am to help your selfish butt.

Merry Christmas--(that's the reason you wanted the tv, right?

It was probably a gift for a loved one for a christian holiday. did you forget the true meaning?)

Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.

Anonymous
#216373

The original poster of this must obviously like chinese made products. The TV in question was a 22" Sansui (lol?) TV.

So not only did your *** a-s-s wait out in the cold for probably hours, you helped to destroy america by (almost) buying a chinese made TV and helping to send america down the drain even more than it already is!! I'm glad you waited so long in the cold to get nothing!!

#216076

The Mishawaka, IN store had employees out front so people wouldn't cut in line. They also didn't open the exit door until the line was all gone.

There were two guys standing at the exit door after they were opened to keep people from entering. Sorry you weren't able to go there, you might have the TV now.

Anonymous
#216067

Yeah the exit doors shouldn't open until 5 minutes after the entrance door opens. This person has a valid complaint. I rarely agree with the stuff on here but I would be pissed if I were them.

Menards service

I am pleased with Menards, you get what you pay for and sometimes a little more. Customer service is the deciding factor. I went to Menards to return a chainsaw blade and found that I forgot the receipt at home, Customer service was very helpful and my refund was obtained. I find many great deals on iems used daily at home and with my vehicles, price is right and quality is good or better than other store brands. How do you beat an electric drill, 3/8 revering for $9.99. I use it often and it works great. I used to buy exclusive Craftsman, but quality is not what it used to be in a throw away world. for home use, Menards items aregreat

If you pay with check or cash - you'll get cash so long as it is before 90days.

If you use a credit card AS CREDIT - Your gift for the other person will have to be put on an in store credit, because the only other option would be to put the amount back onto YOUR CARD... removing the point of their "gift."

If you use a card AS DEBIT - You will get CASH back so long as before 90days.

If you use a gift card or in store credits or rebates to cover the TOTAL PURCHASE they will receive an in store credit. If you use any of those items as mentioned just prior for only a PARTIAL PAYMENT they will receive the balance not used up by the credits with however you paid as mentioned above.

If you use a credit card you cant expect to get cash back. if you use an in store credit you cant expect to get cash back. if you use a gift card you cant expect to get cash back. if you stole it and you're returning it without a receipt and you complain about not getting cash back, get the *** out of our store.

No advertized items @ Menards

Went to Menards to buy a heater, on sale, in the ad begining today. None on the shelf, none coming, no substitution. Manager did not even ask my name so that meybe if one was found they could let me know. Infra red heater. I was given the runaround that this is a seasonal itme. We have no control over ads. We have no control ovver quantities. We are not responsiible for this problem. Whe did the ad not include limited quantities, discountinued item, first come first serve. The manager did not make any attempt to find a solution for me. Rapid City, South Dakota - Manager Ron. Sunday 11/21/10.

Yes but the item went on sale on Black Friday. Black Friday merchandise is not generally our regular products, they are just there for that day, and then until we sell out.

The flier goes out to EVERY Menards in EVERY state.

Let's say a store in Wisconsin still has 30 of the heaters, and that store in SD is completely out. Are they NOT going to put the item on sale and hopefully get rid of them, or are they not going to put it in the ad so that some guy in SD won't get his panties in a twist?

#215936

really - did you not pay attention? this did not happen on after thanksgiving shoppping!

Anonymous
#215773

the day after thanksgiving is the biggest day for sales every single year. do you think they stock 100,000 infra red heaters just in case everyone in the local area wants one?

no. its first come first serve.

wake up earlier and get in line, or learn to run faster. simple as that.

Some stores give the discount it varies, in Lansing Mi the North store Migration doesn't believe in it the South Lansing store does. I had 500.00 on a cart and at checkout found this out.

I told the cashier just to put it all back in stock. Then purchased all the same stuff at the other store.

This is an insane policy, Menards is a private corporation John Menard still got my money. Very *** policy.
