The store can't track your rebate. Just look at the rebate form, there is a website you can go to to track your rebate.

You can also go to Menards.com and find a link to track your rebate there. Sounds like you are the type of person that expects someone else to do everything for you.

Just common construction knowledge tells you, you need to engineer this.

Guest

Did you have a professional engineer design your wall? Looking at the block on-line they tell you to have a professional engineer design walls over 48" tall.

They also tell you that walls over 48" need reinforcement.

You don't mention either of these in your complaint. My guess is that your cracking problem is a lack of proper engineering and improper installation rather than a problem with the product.

Are you talking about a credit account? Menards would have nothing to do with your credit account.

You would need to talk to the credit company that issued your card. There have been several that have issued the "BIG" card to use at Menards over the years.

You might get a credit report from one of the reporting agencies. They usually include numbers for the companies you have had credit with over the years.

Unethical & illegal behavior

Today, my boyfriend and I walked to Menards to purchase a *** for our house. We both walked with back packs on to help carry our belongings as well as to safely carry our purchases home.

We shopped for approx a 1/2 hour and proceeded to the check out where suddenly my boyfriend was accused of stealing. The lady demanded to check through my boyfriends backpack even though he had not touched it from the time he set it into the cart & had not until the time the lady demanded to know if he stole something, at which point he said no, yet the lady persisted he did and asked if he was sure he didn't steal anything he said i didn't take anything. But she proceeded to tell him she would be doing a search of his bag!! We had no idea what was happening or what to do as she went all through his backpack very intensly but found nothing but then continued to squeeze the bag some more because as it seemed, this lady had it in her mind that he was guilty of stealing on the basis that she alone said so!My boyfriend had baggy shorts on & has tattoo's on his legs which we believe led this lady to stereotype him&profile him because of his look!I say this because I had my backpack on the entire time in Menards&the lady never once wanted to look in my backpack even though she saw i had one as well, I was not accused of shop lifting at all.

Neither of us were in the store to do anything more than to get a part needed to fix a switch that wore out in the house. My boyfriend was upset&so am I. The lady was very rude, ill-mannered, and hostile to him without any warrant or reason. Your employee harassed my boyfriend over a hunch she had bc of his look.

His look does not make him a thief, she had no reason to believe he was at all no more than it led her to not be suspicious of me. Yet, he was treated with disgust by your employee. I was not happy with this nor will I sit by & allow this behavior to sit quiet, which is why I am speaking up for the truth here today. To continue the story, i tried to finish up our transaction at the checkout while my boyfriend was being searched like a criminal for no reason, then I waited for her to come to me next since protocol is protocol as the lady said it was, that she had authority to search all backpacks however she walked behind me & left not caring at all about my backpack, we found this the ultimate proof that this accusation from your employee was motivated entirely by profiling & her stereotyping people by look alone.

How horrible! My boyfriend paid for our purchase and we left. However, we left very upset over the treatment of your employee to him & ultimately to us as well as to your entire store. This is shameful behavior on the part of your team.

The lady exclaimed to my boyfriend that she had to go through his backpack as a part of protocol, however if it was protocol, i would have been searched too. This is unacceptable behavior to accuse someone without reason other than the way he looked. I do not believe we need to spend our money in a place that searches one persons backpack but the next person using the logic that backpacks must equal stealing and then therefore need to be searched while the person is basically accused of the devious act of thievery. Profiling and stereotyping anyone is illegal in the case of your business, not to mention unethical & highly unnecessary.

This today, makes your business note worthy of illegal practices towards your customers. I would like my boyfriend to receive a sincere apology as he was quite upset. Also, a monetary incentive, such as a gift card, showing us that it is okay to come back into your store again is not too much to ask from you in this instance so that you can show sincerity in your apology. Please help us help you to correct the error experienced today within your store in an efficient manner.

We invite you to review the security cameras during the time we were in your store as well as discuss this with the check out lady who saw the whole thing take place. her name on our reciept is haven, 20534 0* 7678 10/02/18 12:35 PM. Please contact me to discuss correcting this asap & to discuss any extra details you may need to make sure you track down the employee who did this to my boyfriend while I was with him.

I have never witnessed such brutality from one of your workers in all my years shopping in your store! It is an embarrassment to you that you have hired this person to work in your store!

Lots of misinformation being spread around here. Menards is private property just like all business establishments they have the legal right to search anything that is brought onto their property, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS UNTIL AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN DETAINED AND SEARCHED.

They believe they have been wronged, but what they lack is facts about what is legal and what is not legal. My best example of this is High Schools and Universities/Colleges. Your locker and back pack are subject to searches by staff or law enforcement at any time. Airports anyone?

Been to an NFL game recently? No? All bags must be clear plastic so they can be seen into. Here is an example of a guy going into Menards yard with car and refusing to open his trunk for a search in order to leave the yard.

Police got evolved and he even took Menards to court and lost. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wAozrhMhJg watch this video. Also Menards has a policy that all employees lunch boxes must be checked before leaving. I'm also sure this includes big bags such as back packs and purses(this is where I think the cashier got confused by the way, but I will explain that in a moment) The only odd thing about this is the fact it was a cashier and not security.

Employees are to observe and report to management and security(very common practice in retail). There is a lot of risk being aggressive towards people about theft that can open up Menards to liability issues. It's very possible this cashier thought she was doing her job of checking bags before they leave the store. It's also very possible she only noticed his back pack because it was in the cart and yours was on your back and less noticeable(unless you out right said hey check mine too it's protocol after all.) I would like to point out that bringing a back pack into any store is asking for trouble.

Many stores even have no back packs allowed policies. In the 5 years I worked at Menards I never once saw anyone walking around the store with a backpack and had I would have reported it to management to look into possible theft because employees are trained to keep an eye out for odd behavior and odd clothing choices to conceal items. We once had an old man using an oxygen tank to conceal items and steal.

BE LOGICAL ABOUT YOUR CHOICES. A BACK PACK IN A RETAIL STORE IS A BIG NO NO.

Guest

That is considered an illegal search. Should that happen again, they need to get the police involved and then sue the store. You should not have allowed them to go through your pack.

Guest

{{redacted}} all of you pro Menrads *** heads in the comment section

Guest

*** Menard's knows as well as every other retailer that unless a theft is caught on video it is impossible to get a conviction. They saw him steal something on their loss prevention cameras and told the front end manager to find out what was stolen.

They don't allow cashiers to arbitrarily search peoples' belongings without having that video evidence. That would open them up for a huge lawsuit. The already have the proof. So if i were you i certainly wouldn't be pursuing any legal action against them.

They will pull that video out in court and your boyfriend will be hauled from the court in handcuffs. So good luck with that.

If they had proof why didn't the search turn up the product they have "proof" he was trying to steal? Although they may not have been stealing, wearing backpacks into a store is rather odd and would lead to scrutiny by security personnel. Next time, leave the backpacks at home.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1573215

They have to be sure and they have to find the item. They do not have any authority to search or seizure.

That is the police that have that authority.

Even if you are stealing all you have to do is keep walking and there isnt anything they can do to you. Now that will be deemed as suspicious behavior of course and they obviously have the authority to ban you from their property.

This machine will not run. It will not do anything.

There are no lights. no ignition, it wont turn over. This is not the first time it happened and the first time I had it repaired it cost me $700 to get it fixed. I will not pay that again.

I have changed everything electrical and electronic on this thing and it just sits in my yard like a lump. I am tired of mowing around a piece of machinery that I can't use. I am very tired of repair shops telling me that they don't want anything to do with it. This is the worst machine I have ever owned.

I have 2 neighbors that have the same machine with the same problem. One of my neighbors actually junked his. Tell me what I can do to correct this problem. I have had this for a few years and it has been broke down more than I have been able to use it.

I live on an acreage and I need something to check fences and a repair vehicle for mending fences.

I am about ready to junk this and go buy a golf cart that I can at least depend on to help me get my work done so ai don't have to tear up a $40,000 dollar pickup. I am very displeased with this product and Menards they have been no help at all with my problem!

I too had problems with starting and one day it wouldnโ€™t start at all so I finally decided to check out the engine. When I removed the valve cover I noticed there was no gap at the rockers.

Checked the specs, used a feeler gauge and adjusted the rockers.

Starts and runs great. I believe it was not adjusted properly from the factory.

Well maybe you need to contact the manufacturer of the unit which is American sportworks out of Fort Wayne indiana. They make the unit so the provide the support and techs of the u it not Menards. So your complaint is with the manufacturer not the seller.

Guest

Bet the low price really looked good when you bought it. There is a reason the Yard Sport sells for a fraction of the price of something like a John Deere Gator.

They are a fraction of the quality. If you want a quality product that is going to give you years of service, be prepared to pay for it.

The yard sport is the equivalent of the $100 lawn mower that you throw away when it quits working.... just not worth the money to repair.

Menards - False Imprisonment - Image 2

I was directed to three different places to pick up my online order. Finally they sent me through the lumber yard for some reason, to enter the same Menards from the back.

When I was leaving, they wanted to search my trunk, just to see if I stole anything. I said no. I had to call police, then they arrested ME and told me I would not be going anywhere until I complied with Menards policy!!! I was cuffed and put in to a squad car indefinitely, my wife threatened, and my car searched without PC, warrant, or consent.

And they have been sued before and warned by the courts that this is not lawful behavior. I have since discovered SO much more about the man and the company, it will make you SICK!!!

I hope the place burns down, and goes out of business.

Guest

Also note in the video this posters tries to argue the law with the POLICE! Thatโ€™s not very smart. I suggest that before anyone posts they watch the video to the right of the picture of the store.

Guest

Uh yes you did deny a lawful order by the police. Your own video proves that.

By refusing to give a law enforcement officer your ID you gave them resonable suspicion. Then on top of that you have a mental disorder. Do you think the whole situation might have had something to do with it? That not only did you get belligerent, kinda politely, but you still were.

In the video that YOU PROVIDED they do not search your vehicle. They look in. Thatโ€™s not searching. They donโ€™t even take anything out or move anything.

Then when we listen to your wife speak she explains that you also have a mental disorder. YOU CAUSED ALL OF THIS!! Since youโ€™re in the appeals process that means you lost your original case against them and want another shot.

If you wish to post what amounts to out and out lies PLEASE donโ€™t post a video. Itโ€™s damning!

Guest

For those interested just do a little research on the case of Charles Waters and Anita Waters vs. the City of Coon Rapids as well as Menards and the officers involved.

You will find their case was dismissed in December of 2017.

Look at the court document and you'll see this complaint has no merit. Just someone that thinks rules and laws aren't for him.

Rude Manager

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This was at the Cuyahoga Falls Ohio store. I bought a refridgerator Tuesday Oct 30th and was told it would be ready the next day.

They said they couldn't get me a new 1 till Nov 30th so I opted on the floor model which had a small dent on the right side. Decent discount. From $805 to $674. They wanted $100 to deliver it so I decided I'd pick it up myself, but I never got a call the next day or the next or the next so I called them.

And called....and called....nobody picked up the phone. Called 5 times. I finally get somebody on the phone who tells me the appliance dept. is busy and to leave them a message.

3 hours later no return call so I call back again. No answer from the appliance dept. again. So I call and press the number for the store manager and told him the story and told him the least he can do is bring it to me for free.

He told me he wouldn't do that and that they discounted the fridge already and switched the handles on the doors that I ''DEMANDED''. That set me off because I didn't DEMAND anything. I simply asked the appliance manager if they can do that. She called the manger and it was agreed upon.

To tell a customer you ''demanded'' something without even being there is unreal and I was done with him. I called back and told the appliance manager I wanted my money back and I'll never come in that store again (which I won't) I asked her if they even took it off the floor and shrink wrapped it like they promised they would the very next day. She told me they just took it in the back (4 days later) and are doing the switching of the handles as we speak. The store manager calls me back while I'm on the phone with the appliance manager and leaves me a message that the handles are switched already and to come get it tomorrow.

So he lied. They never touched that fridge in 4 days. I went to a Best Buy store hours after this manager pissed me off. 35 of the exact same fridges in stock.

$599 for a brand new in the box 1....free delivery and I'm getting it in 3 days. Their dented floor model and delivery was $774. I have recently purchased a few thousand dollars in products in that Menards. While I like the layout of the store and might go to a different Menards in the future I will NEVER walk into that Cuyahoga store again.

And Menards...don't even try to contact me anymore. Customer relations with this manager was the lowest form I've ever seen.

Get off your lazy *** go into the store and talk with someone in person. Solves the problem.

You have to realize that the sales people in a store have more to do than answer the phone. The department that sells appliances also sells kitchen cabinets.

Part of selling a kitchen full of cabinets is sitting down with the customer and designing the kitchen. This is a process that can take 2-3 hours on a large kitchen. If you happen to be the only person working and are designing a kitchen with a customer that may well sell for over $10,000 it's very easy to let the phone ring rather than being continually interrupted while trying to concentrate on the design you are working on. With as few people as Menards tries to staff their stores with it can be hard to get everything that needs to be doe in a day done.

If you are helping customer after customer you may not get to switching the hinge on a refrigerator door until the customer that wants in is standing there waiting for it. You did the right thing in purchasing your refrigerator at a store that has a department dedicated to appliances rather than a store that sees appliances as an add on to their kitchen cabinets.

Sarah H Sms
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1593090

The customer experience is constructed by the business. Saying a store is staffing as few people as possible is very funny.

If the company cannot meet the needs of the customer because of staffing there is ways to solve this problem. Have you heard of lean management? Its a better financial way to deal with keeping less people on staff.

First, I would get a system that would remind sales staff that they have call reminders, get a task system that department managers are able to assign to employees, then the manager is able to know when task are completed for customers. Lastly, this also allows managers and GMs to have a better overall view of priorities for the day and get in a habit of managing people and not reactive because the system is flawed.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Sarah H Sms

The staff has plenty of tasks assigned. They have tasks assigned by the department managers.

They have tasks assigned by the store managers. On top of that they have customers in the store that expect service. The staff would also like to leave at their scheduled time. The problem lies in trying to make enough time to complete all the tasks they are assigned for the day as well as doing their best to give the customers the attention they deserve.

There are only so many hours in a day and unfortunately the customers in the store and the demands of management to get tasks done take a priority over the phone. By going into the store and being in front of an employee will make you a priority over a phone call.

No matter where you purchase products deliveries can be a problem. There are too many factors that can cause delivery to run late that are beyond the control of the store.

As they deliver 7 days a week the smart ting to do is set your delivery for a day you aren't working. That way if they run late you won't miss work.

Guest

Big surprise Menards person, customer is to blame again for not taking a day off to work around your 7 day delivery "schedule."

Guest

No matter where you make your purchase deliveries can run late. At least they said they would be late and asked if they could re-schedule.

Just take a look at other stores complaints on deliveries. Thing happen.

Trucks break down, drivers call in sick or get to work late, earlier deliveries take longer than expected. Get your own truck if you don't want to be bothered with things that come up in the real world.

Never notified when storm door arrived at store

Ordered storm door (special order). I was told I would be notified when it was delivered to store.

After one month I called store and was told yes your door is here, it was delivered two weeks ago. I said I was never notified.

Well anyway, it would have been nice to have received notice and I could have had it installed before the cold weather arrived.

Too late now winter is here there is snow on the ground. I should have called sooner but because I was told it would take 2 to 3 weeks, I didnโ€™t call.

When you placed the order you would have been asked for you e-mail address. If you chose not to provide it, it would be your responsibility to check with the store to see if your order had arrived.

They make all their notifications of product arrival by e-mail. In the past they made phone call, then went to post cards but no matter what method was used you'd still have people claiming they weren't notified.

How much easier can it be? Go to Menards.com and type search locator in the search bar.

Pick the store you want to shop at and it will list a direct dial number to every department in the store.

You will only find numbers for the stores, not the corporate office or on-line sales. The idea behind on-line sales is that they are done on-line, not on the phone.

As a vet myself you are an embarrassment. I served my country because it was the right thing to do and because I chose and wanted to serve my country.

I didn't do it so I could get deals at Menards or coupons on food.

I am always honored when a store chooses to give a discount for military service, but if you ask for a discount you don't deserve it. You are a disgrace.

Guest

Yet another vet crying about not gettin g a discount. I'd much rather see vets thanking those stores that do offer a discount.

Some stores like Menards choose not to give discounts to limited segments of their customers. If vets get a discount but others like police officers, teachers, Baptists, Catholics, senior citizens and the list goes on don't, they risk upsetting any of these people because they don't get a discount as well. Companies like Menards honor ALL of their customers by offering fair prices an opportunities to save to anyone that shops in their stores.

If your discount gives you a better price elsewhere use it there and save a few bucks. If not, don't complain that you don't get a better price than the person in line behind you.

My wife fell due to Menard's employee negligence and they admit it but have done nothing to bring the incident to a conclusion since May 2017

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

we have been in touch with their liability insurance carrier but they are very slow to respond. nothing back since June of 2018.

sent a letter to Menard's and they pawned it back off to the insurance company.

Thought it could easily be resolved but the carrier and their arrogance have brought the process to a halt. Sent the last email but no response. We have suffered a verifiable loss and they made an insulting offer but Menard's will not intervene or instruct their insurance carrier to resolve this small matter.

my wife was injured but they did not offer to call EMS. Guess the next obvious step is an attorney.

Too bad everything in this world has to go to the attorney's. no honor to their loyal customers.

What type of resolution or compensation are you hoping for in this case? Just curious, what they are offering?

Guest

What exactly is the employee negligence you are talking about? Did an employe physically knock her over, was something pushed into her causing her to fall or did she trip over something she could see if she was watching where she was going that was left in an aisle by an employee? Without the whole story it's hard to tell if they are 100% at fault or if you wife shares some responsibility for not watching here she was going.

I own a business, your comments are not true. Maybe customers may not know this but companies can tell their insurance companies yes and no.

Then the company pays accordingly. My company has claims all the time if it is in fact my companies fault then I say yes pay. If not I say no and the insurance company sends a letter saying no. At the very least be honest with your customers.

Pull the video and make a valid response to this customer.

I promise your customers rather have the truth than nothing at all. Lastly its a win for Menards because you get to keep your customer because they are happy with the customer focused environment.

So I am not siding with the client but am saying be swift and the art of conversation goes a long way:) We are sorry for the incident but after reviewing all evidence we have concluded that...โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.then they have the right to hire their own representation. This is what they should have done in the first place and it looks like they did not so they are giving Menards "good will". Lastly, if Menards is having problems handling all these claims.

I would suggest looking into lean management. I would pair technology with their staff giving the highest efficiency and streamline responses as I am sure Menards has seen it all. Than customers will get the personal touches that they have grown to expect from such a large company.

I would also have this system track all injuries in order to be proactive to make safety changes decreasing the injury percentage for their stores. This would decrease the cost to Menards allowing them to invest more money into more important things.

Special order scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Menards claims that there design service is free, but any chance they had they put in more expensive cabinets whithout explaining a cheaper alternitive.

There was so many mistakes that cost me over $1000 extra.

She kept putting an angled front, corner cabinet in from the more expensive designer series that cost $600.00 the standard series was only $300..but where she really got me was now I couldn't use stock counter tops for $175 I had to special order counter tops that are impossiable to make in formica for $575.

They screwed up the first attempt and had to make them over,so we had to wait another 3 weeks. The second attempt was better but had to custom fitted to lessen the unsightly gaps.

The cabinet over the MW was too short at 12". we had to returnit and pay a 25% restocking fee and order one that was 18" tall. The base line cardell pull out shelves were worthless that cost us $300.00.we had to return them and pay another 25%restocking fee in order to upgrade. Then they ordered the wrong size so i had to pay another restocking fee.

This was my 8th kitchen i've built and by far the worst design experiance

You get a layout before your order begins production. I dont understand from the information that you have given how anything could have came in wrong.

Did you decline the template?

Did you not use it and just sign? What happened?

Your complaint isn't totally clear. Is your complaint that she used a diagonal corner cabinet rather than a square cabinet or that she used an upgraded line or both?

If in fact, you wanted a diagonal corner cabinet there would be no way you could use stock countertop, no matter what line of cabinet was used. You can get diagonal corners in laminate tops but the seams and backsplashes can get awkward and hard to work with and even more so if you are putting a sink in the corner.

The reason Menards can provide free designs is that they have minimally trained employees that aren't paid what certified designers are. Your experience is a good example of why it may be worth paying for the services of a certified designer.

Horrible customer service slow processing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought a grill in may sent in the mail in rebate the next day and finally got tired of waiting for my rebate so messaged about it September 28th. Got told my rebate was mailed June 12th but wasnโ€™t ever used so they would cancel that rebate and send another.

Well a few days later I received my rebate and went to the store today to use it and it was the one from June that was cancelled! Seems kind of weird after 4 months I call and complain and a few days later the one they supposedly sent 4 months ago shows up. Unless they walked it from the other side of the US and dropped it in my mail box thereโ€™s no way it actually got mailed in June. What more than likely happened was they just sent the rebate when I called and complained and now Iโ€™ll likely have to call and complain in another 4 months I guess.

Do right by your customers and mail the rebates in a timely fashion and not 4 months later after someone complains! Ridiculous to expect customers to wait this long for a rebate and to top it off the nearest Menards is 45 minutes away so I drove an hour and a half there and back for no reason because they wouldnโ€™t honor my 4 month old rebate!!!

I always get mine in a timely manner. Did you ever think it may have been delayed at the post office in some way? Once had a check I mailed to the kids orthodontist take 6 months to get there.

Or maybe, just maybe, the customer is right here & Menards screwed up. Why does everyone on this site always blame the customer as if Menards couldn't possibly be at fault?

Did you return any of the products or go back for a price adjustment for a lower sale price than you paid? Doing either of those will reduce the amount of your rebate check.

They won't give you both a lower sale price and the rebate. If you didn't do either of those contact rebates international at the e-mail address on the rebate form.
