Manager blowing me off regarding getting all my orders delivered due to their F-up

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Last year, I had a Cuyahoga Falls OH store delivery from Menards and it went well except a few out of stock items that came a week later. But all the items I purchased were the correct match according to the sku. This year (same store) like prior, I did 1 huge delivery purchase and tacked some you-pick-up orders onto this same delivery. However unlike the last time, they did SEVERAL THINGS WRONG: I paid for 2x4x8 premium studs and this time, they picked and delivered precuts -which as some may know are 3.5 range shorter than standard 8 studs! They also forgot to attach 2 more you-pick-up orders: my premium oak qtr-sawn plywood, 15 additional 2x4x8 prem studs and 1/2x4x8 drywall. On the same you-pick-up order - they DID deliver the 1x6x20 PVC trim though! What the *** happened there? This mgr Dillion was supposed to call me back after talking to his Mgr (he said) and he dropped the ball. Even more frustrating, I call and call and hes ALWAYS out to lunch or left the store already. Then some numbskull named Tony tries to interfere (like hes in control) states hes like a mgr - sort of... then takes 10 minutes trying to find an order. I finally said again, have Dillion or the actual Store Mgr call me back -which of course, NEVER occurred! Still waiting 3weeks later! Can you say any plainer: Don't shop here, we dont care?!

Discrimination

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If you are going to REQUIRE all of your patrons to wear a mask, then ALL of your customers should be required to wear one walking in. I walked past multiple associates who said nothing to me. Then while I was near the back of the store, I was approached by an associate who walked past THREE other people without masks to tell me that I had to leave for not having a mask. Why not tell everyone who comes into the store, why not every associate be told customers can't be in the store without one? Why was I singled out, but the other 3 people in the area not required to have one? That is discrimination or profiling. Congratulations Menards for contributing to discrimination and this will be taken public.

When entering store approx 11 am, I was confronted by a Security employee that informed me if I didn't have a mask I needed to purchase one at a desk or I could not come in. I turned around, went to my car and put on my mask that I have to wear to work. He addressed me by " Yeah that looks better ". Yes , I was annoyed and asked him where was a sign or why isn't it in the media that masks are required , not just suggested. He informed me that there didn't need to be a sign or any media and if I did not like it I could go shop somewhere else. As I walked past him he continued to comment towards me. I almost left but knew exactly what I wanted. I never cursed or used foul language to this young man. And absolutely could not believe his behavior. I am a 60 yr old white woman. I am a manager for Belle Tire. Several times while inside I thought of finding the manager, but decided to wait until I cooled off. I will not go back into that store ( which is close to my house ) until this addressed. I know I am just 1 customer and this man was probably not a Menards employee. But he represents Menards. I also understand things are very tense. If I or one of our staff ever addressed a customer the way I was treated , we would be unemployed.

The security guard was right about you looking better with the mask on. No one wants to see your ugly over the hill face.

The Menards stores in my area (St.Paul, MN) all have signs at the entrance to the store announcing the mask policy.

Service during the pandemic is suffering everywhere. Just take a look at the complaints at Lowes and Home Depot as well. There just aren't enough employees to handle the increased demand.

According to menards staff that knows me offhand as a regular customer only 30% of the rebate forms printed at the register are eventually redeemed for merchandise. Essentially meaning the house keeps 70% of the printed rebate opportunities. No wonder they play this game forever.

Guest

I think the 11% all the time is the best thing they have done in a long time. I like to shop at Home Depot and they match Menards 11% rebate and you can quickly fill out their form online without mailing anything in.

Poor customer service

I ordered online from Menard's and needed to return it. There is no customer service number, so I followed their email procedure. I sent three emails over two weeks with no response. I found a corporate phone number and called and explained my situation. The woman asked if it was an online order, and when I said yes, she promptly transferred me to a message detailing how to contact them via email. Then I contacted pissedconsumer.com. I don't know what spurred them, but Menards contacted me the next day and have provided a return label. No paperwork, just a label, so we'll see how that goes. I will not shop there again.

Poor store management

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been visiting your store in Davison, Mi. The past 3 occasions have been dis-appointing.

The last time I was there (May 23rd) to purchase a 'Hydro-smart' boiler system, I spoke with Hydro-Smart rep from Mn. over the phone prior, he e-mailed me list of components (which was around $5,000 in merchandise), while at the store, some of their UPC #'s didn't match with Menards & the guy in plumbing (Aaron) tried in vain to contact your store manager to get access to cross reference a few of the SKU's. Manager never responded after several calls & pages over intercom. Menards was suppose to contact me back on (May 25th), Aaron left a note with my ph# 313 247-****, I never received the call back.

So today I called Menards store, 810 652-**** at 12:56 to verify the 'Nibco clips 1/2", SKU 680****' were in stock, before I made the 2nd. trip for those. I was assured there were 18 bags in stocks. I got there & none in stock.

Wasted another trip & time, I told lady in plumbing I'd pay for them & they could absorb the minus $8 shipping charge, she told me they couldn't do that.

I just started shopping Menards over H-Depot & am not impressed whatsoever. Mark Desira

A store manager at Menards wouldn't be the person contacting a vendor concerning details on products. On a good day they would be too busy running the store.

During the peak spring season and the pandemic concerns they are even busier than usual.

The person who would be involved with your situation would be the plumbing department manager. Either you are complaining about the wrong person or this is a bogus complaint.

Where was the order placed? If you placed it with an employee at the store the store would cancel the order.

If you placed it on-line the only way to cancel it is via an e-mail. Chances of canceling on-line orders tend to be pretty slim.

I have had a Menards card for years but haven't used it in a while. And no email, call, or letter telling me they would just close my account. Total BS, I will never apply for this card again, much less give all my business to them.

Menards has no control over an account you hold with an independent company. With the pandemic credit companies have been cutting credit and closing accounts to prevent potential losses. Have you lost a job or greatly increased your use of credit or done anything else to change your credit ratings?

How was the order placed? If you placed it in a store they can contact the vendor and see if it can be canceled.

Many times there is a very short time frame to cancel an order due to reduced lead times that consumers have demanded. If you placed the order on-line all you can do is send an e-mail requesting cancelation. Again there is a very short window and as busy as they are they might not get to it in time.

Never place an order at Menards unless you are 100% sure you are ordering a product you actually want. If it is too late to cancel they might take it back but they will more than likely hit you with a hefty restock charge if they do.

Resolved

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I made three attempts over a two week period through Menards website and preferred method of contact in order to return unwanted merchandise. They do not offer any live contact. I found a phone number on Google and got an office person who confirmed that I had an online order. She then transferred me to a voicemail instructing me to send an email. I did so, that would be the fourth contact. Then I found pissedconsumer.com and used that route. I'm not sure which of my requests or the pissedconsumer request they responded to but Menards finally emailed me and provided a return shipping label, which is all I was looking for. I will not shop there again.

Menards - Defective product/design flaw
Menards - Defective product/design flaw - Image 2

I ordered the following below on May 11th, 2020 and picked up the special order on May 21st, 2020. Upon installing the vanity top, I proceeded to install the faucets from your store three times.

Each time, there was a leak. Why, either there is a design flaw or a defective part. Specifically, beneath the drain on the recessed bowl where the rubber, there is an imperfection and water leaks. I have video of this and used three different faucets with the same results.

Further, water has leaked and causing the ceiling on the first floor to become damp and will require at the least, repainting. I will be returning this item and expect a new vanity, that is constructed properly, to be sent to me expedited in order to finish the project.

Further do to the leak, the ceiling on the first floor is water damp/water stained.. Order #: ISOU3029****

Helps if you properly install the drain and rubber washer seal. That's a *** poor job.....

Well you should contact the manufacturer since you have the product installed. The store probably wonโ€™t be able to since you installed it. As for the paint the manufacturer should help you.

That's right. Just pass the buck to someone else.

Why should the retailer take any responsibility??? Their only objective is to low ball manufacturers and resell the item to you at significantly higher prices, then when there is an issue they want you to go back to the manufacturer they low balled.

Do your parents know you posted that comment ?

It's pretty clear to see that there isn't a flat surface for the washer to seal against. I had ordered a magick woods top and the backsplash wasn't straight.

It doesn't seem like their quality control is very good. I would seriously look at another brand of top rather than having them re-order it.

Company policy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Our local Menards are not permitting children under 16 to be in their stores. I own my own business and bring my children with me and am no longer able to bring them back inside which means they have to stay in the truck which is no legal. When I brought this up to the security guard he told me he didn't care what I did with the child he wasn't allowed in the store. I found that to be quite offensive since coming in the store was store preference and leaving the child in the truck was illegal. I have purchased alot of materials from Menards and have appreciated there service. But since the whole covid -19 crisis Menards has become the most restrictive of their customers freedoms. I simply left and went to Lowe's to buy the materials I needed for my work that day. Unless the policy is changed and the stores apologize for the over reach into our personal freedoms I don't see how I could continue to shop there. Which is sad since this would be my only complaint with the company. I have found there service and even store layout to be more condusive to helping with tradesmen like myself. We have found home Depot and Lowe's to be not only super nice at these times but sweet toward my children as well. I have a daughter that finds wearing the masks to be restrictive for her asthma and going to the other stores more helpful to her needs also. Thank you for taking the time to read these thoughts.
