Menards paint ""experts""

Iowa CIty store = the WORST EVER. Example. When landlord with 2 tenants went in and asked the paint ""experts"" there,, what is the best paint to use for Cabinets + trim + wall,, they were given a good pittsburg paint,, but FLAT,, NEVER use flat on trim,, let alone Cabinets,,, nor walls in a RENTAL!! flat never comes clean and shows any dirt right away even from washed hands. Even my daughter whoe does NOT like to paint knows that and is under age 25. I = the new manager = then had to totally repaint the WHOLE unit. Plus get this,,, got better quality paint for less money at Diamond Vogel.... and everyone there KNOWS paint,,, not just push it. red

haha ***. you went to Menards to save money.

NO? you think a paint expert is gonna work nights, weekends, and holidays at a retail store for $8? get a *** clue. it's YOUR responsibility to know what the *** your doing also.

modern society is full of people who exept ZERO responsibility for their actions.

I'm willing to bet NOBODY at Menards claimed to be an expert.

Menards doesn't hire people with previous painting/carpentry/electrical/plumbing/lawn-care experience. You want to know why?

The people with that experience make more MONEY DOING THEIR CRAFT. Experts don't work at places like Menards, same goes for Home Depot and Lowes. The people that work at these places are trained to know where stuff is, to keep inventory, to stock items, and to sell. Most these people have zero experience with the stuff they sell.

Also, this is your fault MR EXPERT!

Had you been there getting the paint you could have prevented all of this!

You really should be blaming the people picking up the paint for not knowing. Menards is not required to know what you need YOU ARE!

@Heartless

our paint department is usually pretty good with finding paint that fits the need of the guest. maybe whoever had gotten the paint never told the employee what it was going to be used for.

Original poster- Re-read the first seven words of your post and you'll see where the real mistake was made. "I forgot to mail in my rebate." Dear God...take a cue from my nick name and get some frickin common sense.

How are they taking money out of your pocket? This is no different than if they advertised the product as being on sale for 1 week and you went in 5 days after the sale ended.

You wouldn't get the sale price because you didn't get to the store during the sale. Take some personal responsibility and realize you need to follow the rules if you want to save money.

This is your fault! It's your responsibility to know when the deadline is and mail it in on time.

Menards and many other companies all use deadlines; on rebates, coupons and sales. These companies don't want to give you cheaper or free stuff if they can help it.

They're hopeful you're one of the dumb one's who forget. Conclusion you're very very dumb and your paragraph only confirmed that fact.

You are just one of those obnoxious customers that customer service people can not stand. I do not think you deserve even "I am sorry” comment, but the manager had to say it because it is his job. I feel bad for the paint person and for the guy who had to tell you “I am sorry”

Hearthrob.

For someone suffering from PMS and complaining about mistakes in grammar, you can not even post a sentence without a mistake.

So far, Menards has been pretty good to me. But then again, I am not an Azzh0le to the employees.

That goes for All employees of other stores, restaurants, etc, as well.

Try it sometime. You might like it.

i AM a menards employee. i AM an american.

i believe we should have our right to bear arms, our freedom of speech. i believe in the freedoms the consitution and our fore fathers have given us. i believe i should not have to press 1 for english. and i voted for MITT ROMNEY.

not because my employer preached to me (in fact i heard nothing of the presidential race other than who other co-workers were voting for) where people got this idea is either ludicris or it skipped over our store completely.

i wans't forced to vote for romney i did it under my own free will because i can't stand obama and his dictatorish ways! the sooner he's impeached the better off this country will be!

Thank you to you and your husband for your honesty.

Not everyone is as well-spoken and on top of their game at all times, and deserve a little slack. I'm sure she meant well, but may not be a master of knowing the exact right thing to say at the exact right time.

Deal with the faults of others as gently as with your own.

Menards in Coldwater, Ohio - Menard's Store Policies on Returns

My daughter recently had some water damage to her home. She needed me to front her money to buy replacement cabinets until the kitchen work was completed and she could be reimbursed. She picked out all new cabinets, countertops and a sink from Menard's. But after thinking about the sink she changed her mind on the style. Menard's did not carry the sink she wanted. She presented it, still in the closed box along with her receipt. However, the store manager refused to give her a refund, or put the money back on my credit card. He said store policy was only for store credit. In today's economy, that is such a bad policy. Now we are out additional money for the sink and still have to go spend $239+ dollars at Menard's. Nice touch on their part.

First the return policy is on a HUGE sign behind the service desk as well as being printed on ur receipt so as long as said return was being done with a receipt and within 90 days u would get the price refunded back however u paid for it. Ex.

U used $100 cash $40 gift card and $100 on a credit card, that's is how u would get ur refund back unless u opt for all in store credit or put it on a big card. So somewhere in there a falsification was made n ur pathetic story. I mean I'm not even a cashier but I can read so...u know...second $239 when ur remodeling a kitchen, come on, u could find plenty of stuff (if u know what ur doing) so cry ur river someplace else man. Third its not store policy its menards policy and the ppl who just work there who I'm sure u treated like *** have ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL over the policies take ur issues up with John ok and remember that employees are human just like u.

We have lives and homes and families and u know what at 330 when its time to leave work and be at home with my family, no, I dont give a flying f what u need bcuz Im done working and my kid is waaaaaaaay more important than anything u could possibly ask me...get pissed too, doesnt make me back on the clock does it...nope. ppl like u make me sick!!!

@duh!

Wow, if you are an employee no wonder I hesitate to shop at Menards. You need training in Customer Service, like "the customer is always right." If you are not an employee, you need a job or something to fill your time so you stay off the computer.

In this case, a refund was not something out of order. I would expect it anywhere I shop.
