Menards in Lawrence, Kansas - Menard's - It's About Time

I have heard great tales of Menards for years. Finally, they have opened a store in Topeka, KS, which is much closer to our home. We love the store and the customer service. We have been there many times already and will be back many more times. The in-store assistance is GREAT! The response to questions and/or concerns could not be better. We have special ordered items and have had only one itemwhcih did not arrive on or before the stated date. When we called to check on it the Customer Service staff was very helpful and diligent in their response. Two days later we not only received the item but received, in a separate mailing, a gift card as an added apology for the item being late. No, not a single complaint from us.....Keep it up Menards --

Menards in Sioux Falls, South Dakota - Extremely rude when we returned defective product

My wife and I had purchased a 3 piece rug set from Menards. When we got the set home the largest sized rug was rippled from the other 2 rugs being wrapped inside the largest one. We returned it to the customer service department today. We were treated very rudely and were asked where the plastic was that the set came in. They asked us how in the *** we expected them to resell it without the sku numbers? My wife said that wasn't our problem, to which the customer service gal said " You don't have to get snotty with me!!!" A manager was called and low and behold on the corner of the bigger rug, there was a sku number. I have bought thousands of dollars of stuff from Menards, but I'll be damned if I'm going to be treated like a thug. I'll go to Lowe's or Home Depot and Menards can kiss my DIY ***!!!!

I have a feeling this story is rather embellished. A cashier would be terminated for use of profanity.

That being said, when making a return, all packaging needs to be included.

No cashier at the service desk would do what you're claiming and still have a job. I highly doubt you're telling an accurate story.

I love how you think spending thousands of dollars somewhere entitles you to something. Your money will not be missed the owner of Menards is the richest person in Wisconsin. I also know you will be back because Home Depot and Lowes are no better. They have more complainants on here than Menards.

I've read a lot of them, most are completely bogus. The real problem is the consumer not understanding something and instead of trying to understand they start to make silly demands out of ignorance and the belief they are entitled something.

TRY BEING NICE TO THE CASHIER/SALES PERSON AND I BET NEXT TIME YOU GET BETTER RESULTS. DON'T JUST ASSUME THEY'RE GOING TO BE NICE TO YOU WHEN YOU'RE BEING A JACK@SS TO BEGIN WITH.

After 2 purchases of gas powered items ( a lawn mower and a leaf blower)in a span of one year from Menard's that went to "heck" after a short period of use and their no return policy on gas powered items , I will never shop there again. $200 and I have no other...

I got screwed over also. I bought a chain saw from menards and the thing only ran for 20 minutes.

I took it back the next day and one of the personnel there tried to get it going with no such luck. I was pretty much told that since I put gas in it that it was mine.

Yes I put the correct fuel mixture in it, but the simple fact is the product was junk. My solution to the problem is: (1) be glad they only got me for $119 and (2) that I shop elsewhere now.

These are a low priced disposable freezer made in China. They are disposable because they would cost more to repair than to replace.

During the warranty period a freezer like this can be returned for an exchange, there is no coverage for lost food. Always make sure a freezer is cooling before filling it with food.

agree as well! we may start playing it a tad early if you ask me but the fact that we don't get in trouble for wishing people a merry christmas is fantastic. granted i don't say it unless someone says it to me because i don't want to insult anyone and get into any trouble.

Menards paint ""experts""

Iowa CIty store = the WORST EVER. Example. When landlord with 2 tenants went in and asked the paint ""experts"" there,, what is the best paint to use for Cabinets + trim + wall,, they were given a good pittsburg paint,, but FLAT,, NEVER use flat on trim,, let alone Cabinets,,, nor walls in a RENTAL!! flat never comes clean and shows any dirt right away even from washed hands. Even my daughter whoe does NOT like to paint knows that and is under age 25. I = the new manager = then had to totally repaint the WHOLE unit. Plus get this,,, got better quality paint for less money at Diamond Vogel.... and everyone there KNOWS paint,,, not just push it. red

haha ***. you went to Menards to save money.

NO? you think a paint expert is gonna work nights, weekends, and holidays at a retail store for $8? get a *** clue. it's YOUR responsibility to know what the *** your doing also.

modern society is full of people who exept ZERO responsibility for their actions.

I'm willing to bet NOBODY at Menards claimed to be an expert.

Menards doesn't hire people with previous painting/carpentry/electrical/plumbing/lawn-care experience. You want to know why?

The people with that experience make more MONEY DOING THEIR CRAFT. Experts don't work at places like Menards, same goes for Home Depot and Lowes. The people that work at these places are trained to know where stuff is, to keep inventory, to stock items, and to sell. Most these people have zero experience with the stuff they sell.

Also, this is your fault MR EXPERT!

Had you been there getting the paint you could have prevented all of this!

You really should be blaming the people picking up the paint for not knowing. Menards is not required to know what you need YOU ARE!

@Heartless

our paint department is usually pretty good with finding paint that fits the need of the guest. maybe whoever had gotten the paint never told the employee what it was going to be used for.

Original poster- Re-read the first seven words of your post and you'll see where the real mistake was made. "I forgot to mail in my rebate." Dear God...take a cue from my nick name and get some frickin common sense.

How are they taking money out of your pocket? This is no different than if they advertised the product as being on sale for 1 week and you went in 5 days after the sale ended.

You wouldn't get the sale price because you didn't get to the store during the sale. Take some personal responsibility and realize you need to follow the rules if you want to save money.

This is your fault! It's your responsibility to know when the deadline is and mail it in on time.

Menards and many other companies all use deadlines; on rebates, coupons and sales. These companies don't want to give you cheaper or free stuff if they can help it.

They're hopeful you're one of the dumb one's who forget. Conclusion you're very very dumb and your paragraph only confirmed that fact.

You are just one of those obnoxious customers that customer service people can not stand. I do not think you deserve even "I am sorry” comment, but the manager had to say it because it is his job. I feel bad for the paint person and for the guy who had to tell you “I am sorry”
