Denied credit ‘Fraud’ never happened

Sunday June 28th I attempted to make an online purchase using my Menards Credit Card, the purchase was $559.00 for two chairs that was discontinued at the Burton, Michigan store. My Menards credit card was declined, I called the credit card company right away, speaking with their representative I was told their was a FRAUD Alert on my card. I told the representative that I just used the card earlier in the day, I also used it the day before with NO Problem. The representative said the Fraud Department is closed on Sunday and I should call on Monday. Monday, I called Capitol One and spoke to another representative, again they could give me NO clear reason why the card was declined and then I was transferred to the Fraud unit. Again I was told my credit is GOOD, and Im not late on any payments, (Never late). Well try your card again representative said. I told him that I want an answer, this Is costing me money. The representative finally said theirs No Problem with your Credit Card, but Menards puts a Fraud Alert on cards at times when its an online purchase, because they dont know who making the purchase, it COULD be a Fraud. Well Menards, I made the purchase on my Visa card (Not Menards Card). I missed out on 2% back, I was very embarrassed by the fraud alert that never should have been placed on my card in the first place. You know, Ive never had a problem with Home Depot and my credit limit there is 3 times the amount of Menards. Signed Gregory Palmer 810.275.3159 One pissed off customer

The manager and all the workers there deserve a RAISE for constantly put up with whiny little Bs like you, pretending a face mask is too dangerous to wear in your, allegedly, fragile health condition... I'm elderly and have COPD.

While I do find wearing a mask to be terribly uncomfortable, it doesn't interfere with my oxygen machine at all. EVERYONE who's healthy enough to make it all the way to the store CAN wear a mask, they just don't want to.

Guest

sHe wasn't being rude to you. He was just trying to get the fact through your thick head that if you want to shop in a Menards store you need to wear a mask NO EXCEPTIONS. If you feel that your health is so poor that you can't wear a mask while shopping have someone else pick up what you need or shop on-line.

Defective Lutron fan light control

I Purchased a LUTRON Maestro Fan /Dim Control #363**** on 7/8/20 with My Menards card. Why I selected this switch was to match it to one I purchased for another bedroom across the hall earlier in the year from your Green Bay store.

I installed the control and ran the fan and light through the settings and every thing worked fine, being the way I am about double checking while running the control up through the settings again the switch started making a clicking noise and all the switch indicators lights went out and the control was dead.

I sent an Email to the Escanaba store where it was Purchased on the 10th of July about the failure and if another switch could be sent to me, the trip to that store, which is the closest to me, is over 120 mile round trip.

As of 4:49 today the 14th of July I have not received any response.

I ordered a new switch from Menards online yesterday which should be here in a cpl days.

I fully understand that things can be defective. I don't understand the lack of any response from your store.

How long would I have to return the switch to a store for a refund?

To make a 100+ mile trip just to get a refund or a replacement isn't going to work with the current situation in the world, I keep my trips anywhere to a minimum.

Please advise on how to proceed.

Hello. I was at your store today at Mt. Prospect IL. During my purchase I was never advised that there is a restocking fee. Since the doors that I ordered never came on Jul 3 and still not here the two manager last week were willing to cancel the order. I decided to wait another week before canceling. Today the Brian the manager refused to cancel the order which I still dont have without charging me restocking fee. This is just unacceptable for

Had the doors shipped at this point? Last week they may have been able to cancel the order with the vendor but once they ship they will be stuck selling your doors at a discount to get rid of them.

No. They not even shipped yet and they don’t even know when that might happen.

Was Brian the General manager or one of the assistants? If he was one of the assistants try talking to the General manager. If they are still able to cancel the order they should be willing to give you a full refund.

Complaint and how I was treated in a store

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Ive spent over $15,000 at Menards this summer. The orders have been messed up. A few weeks ago, I sent someone to pick up lawn furniture and one of the chairs were broken and they didnt give us our $700 table. I also ordered an $8000 fence that was received at Menards quite a while ago and not once did MENARDS contact ME to schedule a delivery. I called and was told that it would be delivered on July 1. I just called to see if there was a window and now I am being told that it wont arrive until the 7th. I was told that the delivery drivers do what they want so I will not be given a window. I have three dogs that are afraid of fireworks, no fence and a bunch of people who were hired and planning on putting up the fence tomorrow (some even took off of work). Its funny how their customer service is excellent while they are collecting your money and then once they have it, they dont care about you or what you ordered. Need proof, check my rebates. I should have just gone to Home Depot. The Glendale heights, IL. Menards is the worst.

I take it that you haven't bothered looking at the complaints on the Home Depot board. You are going to find that deliveries are a sore point at all of the big 3 home centers ( Home Depot, Lowes and Menards).

If you are looking for good service go to a local lumberyard. Yes you will pay more but a properly trained staff doesn't come free.

Violating ada by requiring people with a disability to wear a mask

I was at the Burnsville Menards and was told by the manager that I need to wear a mask to shop in the store. I told him that I cannot wear one because of a medical disability.

He said it did not matter and that was a corporate policy. He is wrong as I went the the Menards, in Virginia, MN and that store does not require customers to wear a mask. I heard of another Menards in Iowa, that does not require a mask.

I was ask by one the people at the front of the store, what my disability was. I told her that it is against the ADA to even ask this.

I am a contractor and have been shopping there multiple times over the last couple of months and no one ever said anything to me. I go in the back, as I am a contractor. They know me at this store. I am in there at least once a day.

I spend 50 - 60 thousand dollars there every year, but I guess they dont care. I emailed corporate and the store manager, with no response. People need to stand up for their rights or they will not have any rights left. I filed a complaint with the ADA, in Washington, no response.

I will contact an attorney next week to see what my potions are. I have shopped at Costco, and their mask policy is the same , but when I told them I have a disability, they said I could go in. When I went to Menards, and was told this, I asked if I could at least do my returns and this was allowed. I was in the store for almost 3 hours and seen at least three of their own employees not even properly wearing a mask.

I pose not immediate health risk. I asked one of their employees if Menards trains them in the proper wearing of a mask and was told no. I told them that I believe if and employer has an employee wear a mask or respirator, that OSHA requires them to be trained to properly wear them, and they are not doing this. If this is such a big deal, they are putting their own employees at risk.

Menards even requires a customer to wear a mask outside.

Menards is a joke. Someone needs to stand up to them.

Cons:
  • Response of corporate management

Preferred solution: Let people with a legitimate disability shop at their store

User's recommendation: Do not shop at Menards. Go to Home Depot or Lowes, as they dont require customers to wear masks.

My wife was turned away also and she’s on oxygen. This was the Paducah ky store.

I told the manager to date time signature and explain why she was denied access and they refused to do so.

As s the states in ADA guidelines they have to do this. We will be contacting our lawyer Monday.

''I cannot wear one because of a medical disability.'' Short of having some huge growth on your face there's no MEDICAL disability sufficient for your statement to be factual.

Unless you are a pulmonologist please keep your m edical opinions to yourself. They are ignorant.

Guest

You don't seem to understand that the masks are not intended to prevent someone from catching the virus. They would have to be a properly worn N95 mask which is not what they are requiring.

The face covering they require is there to help stop the spread of the virus by someone that has it by containing the spray from their mouth when they talk or cough.

Good luck with your lawyer. Can't believe the lawyers at Menards aren't on top of what they can and can't do.

If you go to the Rebates International website, you can request to have the rebate re-issued. They will do it as long as it hasn't been used, which in your case it hasn't.

You'll just have to wait a couple weeks for it to get mailed to you, but shouldnt be a problem. :)

You need to contact Menards. A post on a complaint site isn't going to help you.

This 11% off rebate is only to get you in the door and give them more business. Its pretty much a quick and grab store.

You think your saving money.

But you're really not. It takes forever to get the rebate check and Im sure you have to used it in a time frame.

The 11% rebate has been running continuously since March now. If they weren't counting on the majority of their customers not to bother sending in a rebate form they would have just dropped their prices by 11% and saved everyone a lot of hassle.

Be aware that Home Depot matches their rebates at their stores in markets where the compete with Menards.

Home Depot offers a simple on-line submission and is quicker to get your rebate to you than Menards. Check their rebate form though as they do have a few restrictions.

If the purchase was made within the past couple of days you might try contacting the office manager at the store. Tell them what happened and they can check several things to verify your story including looking at the security videos for the cash register you went through. If they can verify you only got one they might issue credit.

Mask free shopping hours requested

It's time for you to PROVIDE MASK FREE SHOPPING SPECIAL SHOPPING HOURS FOR THOSE WITHOUT A MASK Curbside shopping or instacart delivery is not fair and equal access, and has additional costs. Further, this discriminates against those who do not have access to technology. Offering SPECIAL SHOPPING HOURS for those who cannot wear a mask creates REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS (as required by federal, state and local laws). BENEFITS: 1. Shoppers who can't wear a mask can shop in comfort and confidence free of discrimination, harassment and intimidation (which violate federal and state civil rights laws) 2. Associates will not need to waste time checking to see if shoppers are wearing masks 3. Shoppers who want to wear a mask can shop during certain hours in comfort and confidence without feeling "threatened" by those without a mask 4. ASSOCIATES who cannot wear a mask could be assigned to work those hours. 5. This demonstrates YOUR commitment to your ETHICS and COMPLIANCE for NON-DISCRIMINATION policies 6. Your business can avoid costly and embarrassing discrimination lawsuits I am uncomfortable shopping with a mask and avoid stores which make me do so. Thank you for your consideration.

Where are you going to shop with more and more stores requiring masks? It's time for you to realize that masks are one of the keys to stop the spread of the virus.

No on is discriminating by asking you to wear a mask if you want to shop in their stores. They are trying to keep everyone healthy.

Nancy H Pxl

You go ahead with your science and I'll go with mine. I have plenty of studies that show wearing masks does nothing except infect the one wearing it.

It's a myth that it "keeps everyone healthy." It doesn't. But it does cause face rashes, infections, nausea, car accidents, etc.

Last time I checked, it was still a free country. If not social distancing or wearing masks is ok for rioters and protestors, then it is ok for me.

Treated horribly by the manager

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This is a complaint about the manager named Danielle at the menards at 521 E North Ave in Glendale Heights, IL. My 60 year old mother, my 5 year old daughter and I waiting in the long line to get in the store to buy soil and fertilizer so we could plant some flowers and bring some happiness to our lives during this time. Obviously the line starts way passed the entrance so any sort of signage Facing the parking lot will be missed. Danielle comes barreling towards us with her chest out and very aggressively tells us we need to leave the building immediately for bringing a child in, in a completely unprofessional and unacceptable manor. We said we will leave but we didnt know or do anything wrong theres no reason to be rude to us. She then started to yell at us I AM NOT RUDE ITS NOT MY FAULT YOU CANT READ causing a scene and embarrassing us for wanting to shop at menards. I am so beyond disgusted. To be honest I haven’t been to a store in a very long time I’m not sure the rules each place has. The situation turned into us defending ourselves and being berated in front of everyone. She just followed us out as if we were shop lifting, screaming at me to take a picture of the sign on the way out. I will be filing a complaint anywhere humanly possible. I cant believe you allow customers to be treated like this. Everyone in our family is contractors I can not even tell you how much business we give menards. I can not believe you allow someone like this to run a store. So unbelievably upset and disappointed. Menards just lost a lot of customers. + I got EVERYTHING I needed and more at Lowe’s! Fantastic customer services and selection.

I couldn't agree more. My son is a landscaper and just went to Lowes last night and purchased $537.00 worth of merchandise that he would have purchased at Menards. Nope, won't be back until the masks disappear.

Guest

I take it you missed the sign saying they weren't allowing anyone under 16 in their stores at this time. Don't think they are going to treat you any different than anyone else just because there are contractors in your family.

I don’t care. No one should be treated like that for shopping at their store.

I didn’t miss any sign, she misplaced the signs and also forgot to inform her staff not to let children in, as 2 employees let us in the building and the one at the service desk sure didn’t stop us either. Get a life
