They don sell "kits". You can plan a deck on their computer that will print out a list of materials based on the input you gave.

You were given a generic set of instructions for building a deck. You may or may not have a bottom rail depending on how the balusters are attached. On some decks yo may have a bottom rail running between the posts, on other decks the balusters may mount outside the deck on the facia board.

They may have run out or 16' boards and sent 18' as a substation rather than backordering 16' boards and sending nothing for you to work with. Either you or your contractor should have reviewed the materials on the estimate to assure they were what you needed for the way you were constructing the deck.

No matter what chain of stores you shop at prices will vary by market. Prices will vary for may reasons.

Cost of transportation, cost of operating the stores which can include land prices, cost to build the building, labor costs (some states have higher minimum wages) taxes (both payroll and property taxes), local competition and the list goes on. I had an uncle that lived in Southern California who bought as much as he could in Mexico due to lower costs, he even ending up moving to Mexico to avoid US and California taxes.

You may find if you move across the border to Wisconsin you cost of living will be lower as well. You just have to decide where the standard of living is better.

Sure that delivery service sucks but that has nothing to do with Menards. People on this website are looking for legitimate reviews about Menards don't fill up the feed with irrelevant information.

Just like if you get into an accident you don't go to the person that caused the accident for money or the company that you bought your car from you go to their insurance company.

Just because your parents didnt educate you for life and you don't understand the inner workings of America doesn't make Menards a bad corporation....it makes them a corporation in America. Wake up and hakuna matada.

Menards - Rust Oleum Review from Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Put rust oleum garage paint on garage floor. It was thin and spotty shiny in places. Called menards to ask if I could put another coat on . No way they said I would have oh totally strip the floor. Either pressure wash it or sand it off. What? Long story short rustoleum said you can paint over it even with the flakes on top. There's a 72 hr window when you can do it. Did 2nd coat looks beautiful. I'm advice it don't ask the retailers who sell it. Call the people who manufacture it.

Or you could just realize that the people who work there are generally high school or college age students who aren't looking at making working at menards their life career. Therefore they should not be expected to know the details on how every single product works...seems like doing a little bit of research yourself would have given you a better answer than relying completely on somebody younger than you with less experience, your own fault with this one.

Menards store employees are just puppets of the corporate office and the training only goes as far as the instructions on the package. Beyond that menards employees do not feature common sense. Only thing their good at is making excuses how everyone else is to blame especially if it places a monetary risk on john menard's wallet

Menards Sales Manager
Menards seems to feel that the products they sell should they fail, that menards bears no responsibility. They defer you to the manufacturer who in turn will stonewall you, case in point is rustoleum corp regarding their " rock solid " deck coating products. But...

Just exactly why do you feel the retailer store has any responsibility. It is the manufacturer that warranties the products they make, not the retailer.

The retail store is just a middleman in a transaction between you and the manufacturer. The retailer just makes it convenient for you to purchase a product from a manufacturer. They warehouse the product and put it on a shelf of a store near your home so you have easy access to the product. The retailer doesn't manufacture the product so why should they be responsible for its failure?

Let's say you go to a grocery store and buy a can of soup. When you get home and start eating the soup you chip your tooth on a nut that fell off a machine and into the can as the soup was being made, who do you blame? It wasn't the grocery store that let the nut fall into the can. If you have the least bit of common sense you would blame the company that canned the soup, not the store where you bought it.

Menards didn't manufacture the can of deck coating, why are you blaming them for its failure? You should be complaining about the company that made the product, not the retail store.

Menards in Battle Lake, Minnesota - Engine will not stay running

I am no small engine mechanic but I have had nothing but problems with the carb or something that controls the engine's ability to keep running after it has run for a few minutes to several minutes, depending on its mood that day.I have cleaned the carb numerous times. I even bought another carb from LCT and that was the same trouble after about 5 to 10 minutes of running ( I have now cleaned that carb numerous times too. ). The carbs do not appear to be dirty while examining their jet orifices. You have to keep the choke on nearly full choke and it may keep running or it may kill the minute you put a log to the pressure control.Could this be an electronic ignition problem??? I am about to go to fleet farm and buy a Briggs engine and mount it on this headache..

Try running with the gas cap loose. I have seen a lot of newer gas caps that don't vent properly

You don't say what it is that won't keep running and how old it is. Take it to a repair shop and have it fixed.

If it's a newer product it may still be under warranty. This is really a bogus post.

It would be just like posting that the battery in my car won't keep a charge. Without the information of how old it is it's hard to give advice on what to do.

Menards - Review from Poplar Bluff, Missouri

Waited 1 and 1/2 hours for a tub kit to be delivered to the register that I was waiting at with everything that I need for a complete bathroom remodel. I never did get it and left with nothing. I was never helped with locating or loading anything that I planned on buying. Very disappointed in the service.

Why didn't you go to the department and put them on a cart like most people. The people working in the departments are busy helping the people that have come to the department to make their purchase.

When people walk up to the register and ask the cashier to have products brought up they don't magically move to the front of the line of people waiting to be helped in the department.

You can bet the people that have come back to the department get helped before they start bringing your products up. Next time grab a cart and bring you purchase to the register like everyone else.
