Menards in North Platte, Nebraska - Employees not paying attention to you when you ask them a question

My Girlfriend and I went into Menards in North Platte Nebraska on Saturday November 8th 2014 at 1:30pm. We saw some calendars on a rack in the middle of action alley. I asked the lady that worked their if they had anymore calendars in the store and she turned her nose up in the air and walked away! I tried to get ahold of another employee and they all walked the other way! That is really *** bad customer service! I used to work at Menards and you are suppose to help your customers not *** walk away from your customers! Their employees are the most unfriendly people around! The only friendly person in their was our Cashier named Doug!

Not all Menards Stores are created equal.........

4.9
Details
I don't believe ALL the Menards' stores in Green Bay are created equal! I will agree with the poster for the negative comments on just Menards West as I've never visited Menards East. I live fairly near to the West side store and have not been treated well nor do the employees seem to have a handle on the department they work in. However, the total opposite is true of Menards in De Pere who have hired exceptional employees tripping over each other to help their customers. I go there regularly and speak to the "same" people, which proves low turnaround, and everyone is knowledgeable and very helpful. They are probably the exception to the rule, but if you live near Green Bay, try Menards in De Pere, much different shopping experience!

The problem Menards has is there is no one out there to enforce policies in a consistent manner. If all stores followed the policies the company has, your shopping experience between stores would be more consistent.

They did away with district managers years ago so it's up to individual store managers to interpret policies. They all have their idea of what to do. Some are great for employees and customers, others suck at their job and everyone suffers. Sure, they may get an occasional visit from a buyer or someone at the general office but with close to 300 stores these visits are rare and always by a different person.

All they get is a snapshot of what's going on at the store for a few hours while they are there.

A store has to get to a really bad point where the complaints from employees and customers build before anything gets done to improve the situation. At that point it a long tough battle to turn things around.

You don't know what you're talking about. The De Pere store is formally the Green Bay West Store, they were the 26th store Menards ever built.

They built a 250,000 square foot store and moved into the De Pere location. Since they've moved their they've had very high turnover. Over 50% of the people who moved to De Pere from Waube lane no longer work for Menards. And they struggle to keep new employees.

Also since moving to De Pere that location has struggled. And everyone working their HATES IT AND WANTS TO QUIT. Their sales are down at least 50% since moving to De Pere, they used to be ranked in the top 125 stores now they're lucky if they break 225 out of 285 stores. The store you're calling the West store is known as the HOWARD STORE, not GB-WEST.

It a totally brand new store that opened in summer 2012. The Green Bay East store is an older store that they recently renovated into a larger location similar to De Pere and Howard.

@Heartless

Sorry Heartless, you sound like a very disgruntled ex-employee/manager! Either you study "Menards" at some institution or your days are spent investigating Menards' for some unknown reason.

Anyone who can recite the stats regarding employees attitudes, percentages, and especially numbers, i.e., the "26th store" to open displaying 250,000 sq ft. Who in the world would know this *** if they hadn't worked there at some point? I can only speak from my experience and I still deal with the same people I have for a year now and everyone has been great!

If employees want out, all they have to do is quit - what's the problem? Forgive me for not "labeling" the west side location as "Howard"; bravo, you cast the first stone!

Menards in Elmwood Park, Illinois - Rebate on Simmons couch and loveseat

Sent in my rebate slip and have still not received my $100, sent in one after for $3.oo on something else and got that right away what gives? We have been shopping at your Melrose park, Il store since it opened and have always been pleased. Why is it that on this big purchase we have not received our rebate. There are many home stores in our area but we have chosen Menards all these years because of the service and are very disappointed that we have not received our store rebate after at least two months time. Who do I have to contact concerning this?

Never make any major purchases from Menards

1.7
Details
Never, EVER make ANY major purchase from Menards. I have had so many issues with them concerning kitchen cabinets down to $20.00 boots. Over the past couple years I have purchased a complete kitchen and only after many visits to the store and many discussions with the manager did the issues get resolved which costs me unknown amounts of time and money. Name brand refrigerator that failed within 2 months. the list goes one - I was a slow learner but learned I did..... Those $20.00 dollar boots split open on first use. Menards is OK if buying junk such as "As seen on TV" but seems they stock junk even from name brand manufactures. Must be they buy seconds, thirds..... One interesting thing is they have one employee per foot so there is no way to shop without being blocked by a few at every lane...... No need to worry about being from their website cause it is near impossible to navigate or find anything. Tom

Menards hiring process is not about experience or knowledge. They hire based on weather or not they think they can conform you to their views.

The training is very simple, read the box of the item. Unless you've been at Menards a long time which most are not because of the high turnover do to poor working conditions; rude uneducated customers, long hours walking around, lots of manual labor lifting and moving things with out purpose, horrible breaks and breakrooms, cameras everywhere watching your every move, horrible bosses with horrible leadership skills. My question to you is WHY DO YOU NEED YOUR HAND HELD? You can't use google like the rest of the world?

Not bright enough to read the boxes and owner manuals yourself? If it's that complicated for you, perhaps you shouldn't be making any purchases at all anywhere. It's your job as the consumer to educate yourself, not put that on someone else.

I've known people to be hired by Home Depot, Lowes, and Fleet Farm. Those places are no better than Menards when it comes to training and working conditions.

Menards in Columbia, Missouri - 11% Rebates

Pick up numbered rebate form on way out, send in receipt and gift coupon comes in mail every time. Copy or scan receipt for your own records. At checkout, the credit slips they send are never questioned and they do not have to call a "Supervisor". If you are not an ***, the rebates work well as does the 11% credit option. Satisfied Menard's customer. If you want to be pissed, go to Lowe's and ask for the 10% veterans discount. I had the clerk say "Oh ***" because the "Supervisor had just left and had to be called back. Well......Just thank me for my service, won't you?" Demeaning to say the least.

If you buy the cheapest brand of Dutch Boy and then get the semi-gloss, which is already difficult to paint with, then of course it's going to not cover well. Did you prime?

Did you paint over a dark color or have a dark color to paint with? Did you buy *** brushes/rollers?

If you were to look at the sheen display every menards has, you'd have seen that gloss in paint ALWAYS makes the colors lighter. Don't be an ***.
