Menards in Wausau, Wisconsin - Received a damaged door and they refused a exchange

1.6
Details
I wanted to let you know about a very unpleasant experience I had at your Rib Mountain, WI store recently. I purchased a door for my new cabin and when I got it to my cabin I realized the jamb was damaged, there was a scratch in the window and there was a large dent in the panel. I figured that this stuff must happen sometimes and Menards would surely exchange it for another. Boy was I wrong. A manager named Jim refused to take it back. He claimed he had no way to tell if the damage was done by me after I left the store with it. I can assure you that it was never handled by me until the damage was discovered. It was loaded into my truck by Menards employees and I saw the damage before I unloaded it. I tried to return it a few days later but Jim wouldn't allow it. He would only offer me a warranty claim paper but that says its for stuff that is installed. I thought Menards cared about people but I guess I was wrong. Jim was also very arrogant and condescending toward me. He was a down right ***. I just bought this cabin and am planning a major remodel but I have now instructed my builder to not put a single Menards product in my place.

I not only experienced the same problem with the inferior Mastercrap doors they sell but the store manager you delt with sounds just like this *** manager at the Anderson store. They must get their marching orders from the same place.

I pressed hard enough to get an in store credit, and vowed never buy another door from them again. As a matter of fact I vowed to never darken that stores doors again.

I am convinced Menards couldn't care less about the consumer, the so called "guest" turns into the bad guy once the money exchanges hands. I drive considerable away form Menards to purchase building materials, and I also spread the news that Menards manufactures inferior doors.

@Done with Menards

If the problem with your door was so obvious why couldn't you see it at the store? It seems like if their doors were all beat up you wouldn't have bought it the first place. It's funny how you accepted a store credit but will never darken their doors again.

Here is your problem...You pick up a door that the panels and glass are clearly visible to you and don't notice any problems when you pick it up even though you say a "large" dent was there when you went to unload it. Seems a little odd.

Then rather than calling the store as soon as the damage was noticed you wait a few days to take it back. Who knows what may have fallen over in your truck on the door or what fell on it while it was sitting at your cabin.

It's just amazing at how many things leave the store in perfect condition but come back with "damage" that couldn't have happened after the customer left with it. Whether you buy at Menards, Lowes, Home Depot or elsewhere, it's always a good idea to check your product before you leave with it.

Cashiers would be considered an associate of Menards, I believe this to be a very clear sign that you lack intellect. You do a very poor job describing the issue at hand.

You said vague words such as rude, but how are they being rude? Perhaps they're coming off as rude because you're not listen well or comprehending what they have to say. Perhaps you're coming off as rude and they're feeding of that behavior you exhibit. Finally Home Depot is no better, they pay similar wages, have similar hiring procedures and have just as many reviews like this that Menards does.

You will find that if you become and better consumer the customer service representatives that try and help you will also become better. If you don't know something don't aspect them to know it. Educate yourself on the store policies. Understand they're working long hours for little pay dealing with difficult people who just toss out the receipt and owners manual.

These people take zero personal responsibility and blame everyone but themselves.

Be a better consumer and you will see better service, I PROMISE.

Haven't you ever heard that to forgive is divine? Seriously, it was six years ago, it's time to let it go.

It's not healthy to hold on to anger for so long, especially over something so small. If this is the worse thing that had happened to you in the last six years, I would consider you a very fortunate individual.

Menards told me in the morning my price for delivery way $59. When I called in the evening the price was $79.

When I asked what happened they said “don’t know” but that is the price. Strange!!!!!

It appears that you must be somewhat literate as you were able to post here. Why is it you couldn't read the ads, signs and the rebate form that all said the rebate is in the form of a merchandise credit? You have nothing to complain about other than your inability to read what's in front of you.

Menards - I went in for a sales item and they were sold out. Since I drove 30 minutes to get there, I asked for a substitution. It took me 2 managers and 40 minutes to get one. Horrible customer service!!
I saw in the ad they had 6-cube cubbies on sale for $19.99, normally $29.99. I wanted to get a couple of those plus some other things, so I drove the 30 minutes from my home to pick them up. When I arrived I notice that the spots for all colors were empty. They had a...

Menard's sucks when it comes to customer service, anyway. I am a former employee and I quit because of the way they treated their employees.

I want your employees to be trained effectively and for customer service to be a priority. I would also like an explanation from upper management as to why this situation occurred and well as an apology.

Anybody that has done any amount of remodeling knows mistakes happen. As should a good installer.

A good installer would have checked the measurements on the top to be sure everything was correct before they tore out your old top.

Yes, Menards countertop supplier made a mistake but if your installer had checked the top before they tore your old top and sink out you wouldn't be working in a kitchen without a sink nor as large a labor bill. Your installer is partially to blame for your problems as well.
