11% rebate works out to about 4%. Our sales tax is 7%.

$100 item cost results in total cost of $107; mail in rebate is $11. Next purchase for $100 is again totaled at $107 resulting in a net price of $96 after rebate (obtained for previous purchase) is then deducted. Total of 2 purchases is $206 with rebate; $214 without rebate. $214 - $206 = $8.

Sort of a letdown.

Must mail in request and hope it's not rejected and wait for the rebate card. Ok if it's something you need now rather than wait for sale where the discount is before the tax is figured and you don't need to rely on getting that mail-in rebate.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

I feel like what the government charges you to buy stuff in their state has nothing to do with any specific company. I'd imagine they would LOVE to get that line item off of their expense report as much as you do.

Sales tax has nothing to do with your rebate. If you buy $100 worth of merchandise you will get an $11 rebate.

When you use the rebate you will end up paying $89 for $100 worth of merchandise. Of course taxes are added to each purchase but that has nothing to do with getting 11% of the product price back.

Display of bad math; should be $214 - $203 = $11. Saving is about 5%. Sorry about that!

Menard does well with this 11% sale event and they have been increasingly using this ploy to draw people into their stores. However, as you determined, it is really not worth your time or trouble unless it is something you need right away and cannot wait for a sale on the item(s). When Menard's has a sale, the items cost less than if you had bought them during the 11% rebate sale.
