Menards - Rug Review from Chicago, Illinois

I ordered several rugs online from Menards. On one the binding was frayed. On another the binding was an ugly color that was not visible in the picture or mentioned in the description. Two others the colors in the pictures were not accurate. I was surprised when I returned them and was charged $144.00 surcharge. As I shopped I saw FREE SHIPPING 20 times on each page. Nowhere did I see that I would be charged 25% restocking fee - not as I shopped or when I completed my transaction. It was buried on another page under return policy, online purchases....2nd paragragh. Fees a are exorbitant and unnecessary. Lowe's does not do this. Menards has lost my business.

Restocking fees are common on special order products when you use a big box store. You did not pay for shipping, however it still cost Menards money for shipping and packing.

This is a way for Menards to recover the lost profit. When you return an special order product you do not pay shipping on the STORE LOSES MONEY AND GAINS NOTHING. I bet you did not complain about the free shipping and packaging!!!!!!!

Restocking fees also assist with shipping the items back or covers for the unwanted space it's now taking up in the store. Believe it or not SHELF SPACE COST MONEY.

This store has a girl that works there Katie and she does not care about the customers at all. They should fire her. The store manager is also a ***. Then delivery is even more of a joke. You ask them to help you make the lifting easier and they are stinking lazy. Then they say we will be there early in the morning and they get to your home at noon. The whole day is shot. This store needs to close down. Then to make matters worse when a price is wrong they can't fix it at the register. You have to walk all the way to the other end of the store and get your receipt changed. Then you have to wait in line for a long time because there is one person behind the customer service counter that doesn't speak very good English. I need to call Paul menards and really let him know how this store is run. A joke!

A store has the right to follow anybody. If you really weren't suspicious it wouldn't bother you.

Most times people that notice someone is following them are actually suspicious and tend to watch for employees. Quit your whining and enjoy shopping at depot where you wont find any body to help let alone follow you.

Menards in Fort Wayne, Indiana - MENARD'S DOESN'T CARE!!!!

I purchased a complete remodel for my bathroom for Menard's. IN the total amount of $4,619.07. My items were suppose to be delivered to the store by 3/31/15. My contractors started work on 4/13/15. But my counter top did not come in until 4/21/15. The contractors are gone and as you can guess I have NO BATHROOM IN MY HOUSE!! Menard's also ordered me the wrong cabinet which took 3 wks to come. Yep you got it. The new cabinet will not be in until 5/18/15, I hope. Again I HAVE NO BATHROOM IN MY HOME!!! Menard's refunded me $37.07 for the cabinet, nothing for the very late counter top. I have to pay the contractors to come back. I LIVE IN A ONE INCOME FAMILY HOME. This is a big deal to us. Our grandkids can't even come over. WE HAVE NO BATHROOM!! Octavia

Menards does not and can not promise delivery dates on special order merchandise. They are at the mercy of independent vendors to supply and ship those products and a number of factors can impede that. I advise you not to hire a contractor until you have your items in hand.

You spent 4 grand on your bathroom??? But the cabinet was only $40 hmm sounds weird to me.

I only managed a top selling plumbing dept for 3 years. Also whyd you tear everything apart before the materials even came in...

First, Menards only sells the materials for your project and do not get involved with any labor. I am surprised that your contractor would start remodeling a bathroom without verifying that the materials were at the job site and that they were indeed what he needed to complete the job.

Anytime you custom order material there can be delays in delivery for any number of reasons. In the future make sure you have everything you need to complete the project before you tear the old room apart, no matter who is supplying the materials.

Menards - Garage Door Review from Grant, Michigan

I bought a new garage door and when I ordered it I asked 5 times if it came with a garage door opener and I was told yes and the lady that help me even got a attitude about it the door came in a week after they told us it would be here then when I went to pick it up there was no garage door opener and all the management could say is he could take me to go get one so the deal for the garage door and opener was not the deal I was told lied to again this is the third time this has happened in the last year I got the same sorry every time

It seems odd that you would "ask 5 times" if the door came with an opener. If an opener were included it would have been spelled out in the order for the door which gives a detailed description of the door.

Had an opener been included it would have been described as well, including the brand of opener, the horsepower of the opener, type of drive and how many transmitters were included.

I take it the detailed description of the door did not include any mention of an opener being included. As Judge Judy would say "If it's not written on the page, it's not part of the contract."

They have the wrong products in the wrong spots. They refused to give me a discount because of the inconvience of having to locate the correct price (which was covered up anyway, the boy pulled the paper over it out right in front of me). I emailed corporate, they said (we have the right to charge the correct price). I then emailed them back and told them, Thats fine, I will never shop at menards again. I will pay more at lowes, just to have better customer service. Better customer service means alot to me and it should to them as well. After all it is the customer that keeps them in business.

Menards staff 4 life just took an hour to post something he/she could have explained in less than 30 seconds. So glad I'm no longer working that nightmare it's m0r0ns like him/her that really gets to the intelligent hardworking staff.

These lazy workers are carried and cause a portion of the guest related issues because of their laziness. Setting sale is simple and is very easy to be 100% accurate, I did it for years. The real problem that this lazy Menards worker totally neglected is this. Products are often in the wrong location not because of the Menards staff, but because the consumer makes a mess of the store!

Oh and you can go to Lowes you will soon find out they're no better. Matter of fact just search Lowes on this website you will find hundreds of similar complaints just like yours. I urge all consumers to be better consumers! Educate yourself!

Treat people the way you want to be treated! Think logically! Don't take your years of anger about yourself on this person that is making $9 dollars an hour.

Lower you expectations!!!! And if you refuse to lower you expectations I challenge you to work in retail for 3+ years making 9 bucks an hour.

In wisconsin Menards "voluntarily" excludes themself from state law Wisconsin Statutes 98.08 – Price refunds; price information Current as of: 2014

(1) A person who uses an electronic scanner to record the price of a commodity or thing and who sells the commodity or thing at a price higher than the posted or advertised price of that commodity or thing at least shall refund to a person who purchases the commodity or thing the difference between the posted or advertised price of the commodity or thing and the price charged at the time of sale.

(2) A person who sells a commodity or thing and who uses an electronic scanner to record the price of that commodity or thing shall display, in a conspicuous manner, a sign stating the requirements of sub. (1).

I'm sure they also have governor exclusive exempt forms from Ohio, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and every other state that has similar laws as well as requires 98% accuracy between shelf prices and scanned prices.

You see the primary problem is menards uses tiny paper price tags which have to be inserted into a plastic track. Friday nights when the store sets up for sale the employees spend hours f@rting around playing hide and seek to put up stacks of these tiny pieces of paper.

It IS the customers fault NOT the employees fault when the employee accidentally places one in the wrong price tag holder. Also if there is a "misprint" in the price tag, online ad or newspaper ad or price increase from supplier menards has the right to adjust the price in the middle of a promotion "just because"

Next time you try to come to my menards store Ill throw a stick towards the lowes store across the street for you to chase after and don't come back

There are a number of possibilities as to why you find a product over the wrong price. It could be that a customer before you was looking at it and set it in the wrong spot, and employee (yes they are human too) put it in the wrong spot or even put the wrong tag under the item.

In any case a store has the right to charge the proper price for a product. The funny thing is that you NEVER see anyone complaining that they got to the register and the price was lower than they thought it was going to be.

I just wanted them to make it right, none of the employees even cared that I was upset. The employees say exactly what I was talking about on the shelves and they didn't even care. They could of offered me some kind of discount just for the inconvenience.

Menards in Elkhorn, Wisconsin - Same old story

I have a 22" mower that broke only after a few weeks. The weld on the front wheel bracket has broke and I lost the bushing between the wheel and the bracket. Lucky me. Hundreds of thousands of products and you expect menards to have them all in some fantasy storage building... Your contract had an estimated delivery date.

Why didn't you ask why it takes so long? They would've told you before you bought it.

Did you pay with a credit card and cash? We will never know.

Each place of retail has rules and there are guidelines they're all required to follow. Keep that in mind before you throw a temper tantrum.

Menards will refund in the manner the purchase was paid for. If you paid by cash or check you will be refunded in cash (10 day waiting period if you paid by check).

If you paid by credit card or debit card the purchase will go back on the card.

If you used a store credit you will get a store credit back. If you used cash and another form of payment the amount put on a card or store credit will be refunded to the card or store credit before any cash is returned.

Do Not Purchase from Menards

Purchased (2) deck post planters - $17.99ea + $2.80 processing fee. Received them and look very cheap (made in China), so would like to return them - an additional 25% restock fee will be added and I have to pay for return shipping; Amazon or eBay does not do this and frankly haven't dealt with any other company that tacks on these additional fees! You are unable to speak with a human ----- take your business elsewhere, any where would have better customer service and no additional fees associated with purchasing. Menards, menards, menards, menards, menards - bad bad!

Google your local menards and you will find a phone list. Here you can call any department in the store.

Or while you were in the store pick up a business card. Call the store and get the details on ordering things.

Restocking fees are very common when you special order a product from a major retail chain that they normally do not stock at the stock. Did you pay shipping and packaging when you picked it up at the store?

I don't think so! The 25% restocking fee is to assist with the shipping and packaging cost along with the possibility this item is now taking up unwanted shelf space. Please become and educated consumer!

Treat people the way you want to be treated and learn the store policies before you make any major purchases. Finally you can't compare Menards to Amazon or Ebay they're completely different outfits.
