i had come into my mankato menards wanting to do a siding project. i had told the order dept dimensions and what i had from previous project.

i finished i had 2 whole boxes of siding left, so i took back to store with receipt in hand. 25% return fee on my siding return.. wtf! i didnt order the extra siding, they did!

$75.00.. i was pissed.. nothing i could do.. so..

my credit had been tampered with so had to get new debit cards, sorry, can only put on card used.. i had receipt, i had been ripped for $75.00 and now i can have store credit or wait 2 weeks for check.. still waiting for check!

whatever happened to customer service.. we are making these companys so wealthy they can care less if they lose a few customers..

Reason of review: POOR RETURN POLICY AND THE THEFT OF MY $75.00.

Preferred solution: RETURN POLICY TO BE CHANGED AND PERCENTAGE ON RETURNS LOWERED.. .

Menards Cons: Return and repayment policy.

Location: Mankato, Minnesota

Perhaps being a informed buyer would be a better idea there are many apps for estimating material needed and everyjob being diffrent it's hard to be 100% correct it's why you usually order 10-20% more than required so you don't scap it in or have to wait two weeks to finish a job. Did I mention that we are lucky that stores take returns of unwanted items it wasn't that long ago it was buyer bewair and you were simply stuck. Thanks for the sad sad story.

The return needs to be done on the card it was bought on.Its not Menard's fault that it was compromised....

No matter where you place an order you should review it to be sure you are ordering what you feel you need. If it looks like too much say so.

In estimating siding most estimators don't deduct for doors and windows. This allows for the waste you commonly have in siding due to the fact you will usually have a number of short pieces most people don't want to use. You may have used all the pieces that most people would consider scrap and ended up with extra siding. Menards isn't making any money when they charge a restocking charge on special order items you return.

Take a look at their bargain area and you will see these returns are sold for fraction of their value. You might have also kept some to have on hand to repair siding damaged in the future.

Your complaint is poorly composed. It's hard to read and has little information.

I do know this MENARDS DIDN'T ORDER ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CAN'T. It was either and in-stock item or a special order item. Special order items are 25% restocking fee because you did not pay for shipping/handling and packaging. You're also not paying for it to be returned to the vendor/distribution center or taking up unwanted shelf space at the store.

It's very hard to sell a mismatch of random siding..... There is no doubt in my mind you special ordered it and clearly did not realize that was the case.
