Menards: What joke can't compete with home depot
Page 2

Went to Home depot, to get a kilz paint on sale at 75% off, yes from $18.99 per gallon down to $4.49 per gallon. Home depot had over 60 gallons in stock. I purchased all at that price and went to Menards to take advantage of their price match guantee. They had the same paint in stock at $19.99, so much for being the lowest!, they told me that they did, do I showed them the reciept from Home Depot on the paint and asked them if they carried it, they said yes, I asked if they matched price they said yes, so I said that I wanted to buy it all. I had the recipt at $4.49 per gallon from lowe's , it shocked the manager that he called Home depot and it was verified, it took him 40 minutes to return from the office, he then stated that he would only limit me to 20 gallons, I asked him why and he said it was posted, well I replied please show me this. Well we went to the front of the store and he couldn't find the posting, then i yelled at him for not knowing store policy, then he said that he wanted more proof, I again asked him to clearly state why he wanted more proof, he called home depot and the store manger verified the sale and it was chain wide with no limits on the amounts you purchased, he said he wanted to see the flyer, I angerly went to the vechile and pulled out the ad, and showed it to him, well i asked if that was enough proof, he replied yes, then I demand that he get one of those lazy young kids standing around to load up all the instock paint and have it ready at the cashier and to call the other menards in town to give them a heads up that I was coming, so I didn't have to argue with the store manager for over an hour. well it took about 20 minutes more and they finally got it done. I got 69 gallons of paint at $4.49. Whew after 1 hour and 45 minutes i Got the price match I was offered in there radio and paper ads. But what a fight, well it gets better, the other store manager stated in his phone conversation with me ,that he would only sell me 20 gallons but at half off, that was his interpertation of the ad, I asked him if had called Home depot, He replied he didn't have to, and that he didn't even had to sell to me.

Thank goodness for Home depot and lowes for quality merchandise.

Has anyone else have problems like this, please email me the phone number for menards HQ so I can talk to the owner himself.

Angelo

This is funny, I was surfing the comments reading all the support for Menards and came across Angelo. I was within earshot of the second store manager that dealt with Angelo in March. This is not Angelos first attempt at ripping off large retail stores. He once wrote an article in a local newspaper about Menards after he did not get his way. Back to the paint. Depots ad was clearly stated that the price was buy one at 17.99 and then get one free, making the price $8.99 per gallon. Angelo made such a scene at depot that they gave it to him for $4.50 to get him out of the store and yes he did buy them out. He arrived at Menards demanding the same deal waving his receipt around like a prize. Again Angelo made such a scene that Menards gave him some of the paint but held back the rest to get him out of the store. I heard the phone call when he tried to run his scam at the next Menards. Turns out Menards does not need to match any price if the competitor is out of stock. Angelo bought out Home Depot ending his arguement. The price guarantee also says they will sell you enough to do one house or project, what is he doing with 70+ gallons of primer... Can we say resale? Wonder why the prices keep rising......

You know what i love best about this is that menards is supposed to beat that sales price by 11% if they aren't the lowest. So you could have gotten it even cheaper. I also remember this ad at depot. The menards store i work at bought all the paint from the local depot when they ran this price. Not only did they lose their A$$es on this but we bought it half as cheap as we could of from the company

FYI Every Menards store that I've been in has a sign posted by the desk as you walk in about the right to limit the quanities on a sale, you're the reason all stores have policies all you're doing is ripping the store off.

If you hate Menards, quit going back. Do all the employees a favor and stay away from a place you are not wanted.

You seem like one of those guys who walks around the store acting like you are a local Donald Trump when you are probably just pissed off they won't give your *** *** a job.

its not this persons fault they work at burger king making 5.25 an hour. Maybe they just suck and cant find a better job to afford things that arent dirt cheap and crappy.

HMM. This is an indicator that Home Depot is doing so poor they have to discount old paint that is probably expired.

If Menards has old paint, it usually sends all defected paint back to the manufacturer and therefore the guest does not get a bad product.

First of all, a$$hole--you are an unbelieveable piece of $hit! You are the kind of person who makes working in retail unbearable. You are a legend in your own mind and you're lucky someone didn't get sick of your theivery and punch you in the mouth.

Just so you know, you're the type of person who gets spit in their food when they go to restaurants.
