Clerk was poorly trained and totally unaware that the materials I needed were sold there.
Aug 7, 2008
Menards complaint by Lunald
After spending $500 on materials, I ran short and returned on 7 Aug. 2008, to buy additional trim and tub surround panels. The female clerk there looked at the samples of pieces that I brought with me and said, "We do not sell those here." I had to show her where they were.

If a person does not know, then they should get an employee over to help that does know. She actually was going to send me to a competitor. That was only my second visit to Menard's. I think I will stick to Lowe's and Home Depot.

Do you always know every little detail about your job? Heaven forbid if someone makes a mistake. If you had already bought these pieces previously then why were you talking to the team member about it anyways? Shouldn't you have known where to look for it.? Oh, I forgot, most people can't do anything on there own. :cry

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a not fully trained team member, but did you know everything your first day on the job? How about your first week, month or year? I'm in a store that between inside & outside covers 5-acres. It took me about about a month to get the department's locations down after you've learned your own department through and through, THEN you've got guests like yourself whom call the team member the dumb one when they don't know where something is across the store in a department they don't have much reason to be in. Do me a favor and find an employee of Lowe's or Home Depot in their first month and ask them 100 questions about different departments and see what percentage they got right, then come back and complain some more. You'll find yourself right back where you are right now.

I love menards. I shop there all the time and when you realize theyhave bout 200 people working at each store, don't be so upset if you bump into a couple who don't know everything about the store. There's a lot to know. I shop there to save the money and better quailty products.

not sure why you'd choose to spend more money for less overall quality at another store, but more power to you i guess.
